i wanna stress this, USE YOUR RANGED WEAPONS! and make sure to stock up on ammo pouches. picking off a few enemies from afar with a crossbow or javelin can really take some of the pressure off of some of the early game areas. the ranged weapons and magic are VERY STRONG. you are making the game harder than it needs to be by not using them, unless you like the challenge(like me😏)

I'm at the beginning but I just wanna add that respeccing is NOT done with just a moderate amount of vigor in this game. There are only 3 respec items in the game, only one is purchaseable from the hub (the ghost merchant thing has it) and any after that has to be grinded out by collecting eyes from revenge fights, and it takes literally hundreds of revenges to have enough to purchase one. So y'know, just don't come in thinking you can always respec in this game, because you absolutely cannot.

Other fun QoL details: The game remembers your equipped ammo types separately. So if you equip your 3 favorite thrown weapons and put on a bow, you're looking at 3 arrow slots. When you switch back, your thrown types will still be slotted. Unfortunately, spells still need to be loaded in if you switch catalysts, but if you're out of mana, you can still, with one equipment slot, switch to grenades. (I assume no liability for players attempting to adjust equipment during combat in a souls-like.)
Conversation menus have an icon if there's something relevant/new. I didn't realize I had my second saintly quint until I was checking NPCs for possible quests after finding out I'd been carrying like, half of the Exacter's quest items. It's not much, but considering how easy it is to not realize what you just looted before you had to dodge something Umbral, (or before you took a break... have you remembered to hydrate?) and it's nice the NPCs can give you reminders.

Lies of P is very polished but not fun (also arguably only marginally a soulslike due to being mostly Sekiro-inspired). This game needs polish, but is very fun! 🤷🏻♂️

Its also easy to quickly switch range slots. I wander with a weapon buff spell on demand. I run into a fight i cant handle, run away use spell and quickly switch to a throwable to kill excess enemies
Is there a difference between slashing piercing and bashing dmg at all other than status effects weapons explicitly apply ? I think piercing heavy charge attacks can impale and bashing knockdown maybe ?
This is the game that made me buy a controller for my PC; absolute must imo.
my tip would be to be very careful trying to attack guys arranged right on the edge of a drop cos I lost count of the times i also fell during the attack!
What do the eyes and severed hands do? And what are the small icons above my health bar?
Aura of tenacity saps mana constantly after use until you are out of mana for those who go with radiant

Can't wait for this to be playable coop on console. Atm the game is a huge let down. Constant stuttering and screen freezing
The co-op aint great though. Pretty much only the host gets anything out of it.
@thelastmotel partially true all items can be dropped and shared. Host gets all chests and world items. Partner can recieve items dropped by mobs
Grievous damage seemed pretty underwhelming to me. Once I figured out the stat effect system I didn't need it, and wouldn't recommend going out of your way for it.
Step 1: Get Pieta sword
Step 2: Pump Radiance
Step 3: you win the game
Easy mode. That's why I'm playing inferno/ umbral.

many many many players including me, we forget to level up vitality when we play souls games type rpg, 😅
Radiance is OP in this game, almost everything is weak to it
Pretty much, i use that spell to apply radiance to my grand sword (which scales in strength and radiance and also applies bleed on hits) for any fight except radiant enemies then ill use the withering version
I feel like most enemies I’ve fought have been resistant to it, I’m always hitting gray numbers outside of umbral

I can't even make it to the fuckin hub, I've never played a souls type and I'm about to loose my shit. Stuck on the 1st real boss.😢
It's tough. I had to give in and get help from discord lol. This game isn't friendly to us getting into the Souls like games. The key is learning her attack patterns and side stepping at the right time.
This is my first souls like too.
I’ve fought her and died 16 times so far. Stopped because my hands got to sweaty and too much burn 😂
But, I’ll definitely stick with it, this formula is fantastic.
I did farm the area first, to get more comfortable to the mechanics and timings, and in the process upped strength to 17 and vitality to 20 - started with Hallowed Knight base

Umbral finishers? Is that when you soul suck them?
What is an “umbrel finisher”? When the final blow to an enemy comes from a soul flay ?
@@evanpetelle5669 correct you soul flay them when hp is out and they will get staggered you then do the critical strike and it will be a unique animation where you kill them with umbral and that has a higher item find

Honestly with the combat feel this game has given me nioh 2 vibes over any soulsborn. Higher enemy density with a focus on aggression and action.
This combat is absolute garbage compared to Niohs.
@saucemaster2 no it isnt, maybe yur just garbage at the game lol, i think the nioh comparison is weird, but this combat is very good. nioh 2s combat is also incredibly good, but thats the main draw of that game, and pretty much all it has going for it. this game has better level design, enemy variety, and worldbuilding.
Hahahaha it’s not even in the same league. It’s not bad I’m disrespecting this game’s combat, but Nioh is Ninja Gaiden Souls😂
When you say stuff like "(body) sucks the soul back in" cant be true or your next tip that you csn drop enemies would not work.
In the game its excatly opposite. Body does not suck the soul back in
But soul sucks the body towards it. There could be some conditionals like you need to do damage ln soulfrom or nothing objects can be in between enemy and their soul. Not sure.
Can you clarify
Body goes to the soul, I should have clarified. That's why it's important you rip the soul to the right location because the body follows close behind.

I’m playing on ps5. The graphics not look this good. I was wondering if this is pc gameplay or did u change the in game hdr settings
I had the same issue until I adjusted the HDR contrast setting in the game to 100 (I kept the other HDR settings at 50) and switch to quality mode.
The game looks much better. I also made sure my console HDR setting was set to (only when supported).

The main problem I have is that even after farming like a zombie for 2 days to get to a high level, I still get killed in 2-3 hits... do the enemies level up at the same time?
I went from 25 to 96 and I still get killed in a couple of hits -_- I mean whyyyyyyyyy?! If the enemies level to respond to yours, then how are you supposed to progress if you are stuck?
I just learned that there are no vestige points in new game plus?!?! Is that a joke? What an awful decision. I will not be touching new game plus until they add vestige points to it. Please tell me they’re fixing it… this game would be completely unplayable without the vestige points.

this game has the same open world freedom (arguably more so) than Elden Ring, so if your really having a hard time you can basically activate easy mode by having a friend further in the game drop vigor (souls) and other items for an easier start.
guy from an LFG made me lvl 100 in 5 mins and basically broke the in game xp economy. still a hard game tho

Agreed. This game feels so limiting and cramped compared to ER. I wouldn’t call it open world at all.
I'm loving this game right now. I plan on playing through multiple builds. However, how is it even remotely more open world than Elden Ring? ER is specifically designed as an open world, while this is more linear in design. The world is quite large and they tie all the areas together very very well, but it isn't an open world.
@eligreg99 Open world freedom, and open world level design are 2 different things.
Being able to drop anything for another players instance, invite easily based on profile instead of the fromsoft summoning system, coop thru most of the game instead of restrictions

Call me delusional but I think Lords of the Fallen is the best candidate to be Game of the Year
nope, not delusional at all. its my goty as well, edging out blasphemous 2, which is also fantastic and a masterpiece, this game just takes me right back to the dark souls days. it is a love letter to dark souls veterans, and rivals fromsoftware in some areas, which is exactly what fromsoftware needs. COMPETITION. it will force them to evolve and try new ideas.

The fact there is no merchant to sell items before the first boss really makes the game harder. First boss is too hard without over leveling. I wanted this game to be open world, that would have made it better
The first is not too hard. The environment is arguably harder than most of the bosses
First boss isn’t hard at all nor do you need to over lvl for it
Fr I'm struggling too with her lol. But I picked the exiled stalker and I don't want to upgrade yet cuz idk what I can do with the character. So that's probably why I'm struggling lol

I disagree, perfectly fine on mouse and keyboard. I just rebound the keys to my preferred ones and it's been fine
I want to buy this game and support the devs but I hear it has real performance issues on consoles and PC. I'd like to get it for PS5 but I can't justify it right now. They seriously needed a beta or to delay it.

@jayjayson9613 yeah it's already fixed man. if you got a ps5, performance mode runs great. There's no major issues at all from 45+ hours so far. Maybe like 1 crash near launch but that's about it. Well quality mode was horrible at launch but even thats working pretty good now. Performance mode runs great.
@@thegreatpoo2electricboogal318 that's encouraging to hear then. Is it true that the game suffers the longer you play? I heard that was an issue and you had to stop before restarting. Framerate holds up then?
@jayjayson9613 idk man. I literally played for 10 hours straight on my day off the other day and it was pretty good the whole time. Edit: I would also take in account that mileage may vary slightly. Like say someone who has a well maintained ps5 vs a super dusty one that's never been cleaned.
