I still say that "the snorse that Bobs wrong" takes it because that hardly registers as a coherent sentence, but that's pretty close.
An honourable mention of mine: "The Welephant has Bample".
Great news, Cameron! It's both! You can't flicker it to get the Offspring, but it's still an Enter the Battlefield trigger, so Panharmicons will count it!
I’m glad I hibernated my mtg interest for this set. The plane of bloomburrow feels so damn alive, the vorthos in me adores it.
Tamiyo is a rabbit not just because her hair fits. In Japanese culture, instead of seeing a face on the moon, it's a rabbit on the moon pounding mochi, so all Moonfolk are intended to fit the Japanese aesthetic of associating the Moon with rabbits.
Not a Judge, but I am pretty sure the effect of gifting is resolved during the resolution of the spell, and it is the first effect that happens when the spell resolves.
Since no player has priority in the middle of the resolution of a spell, if you gift a card the opponent draws a card first, but can't do nothing with it until the spell resolves, and anything that triggers for the card being draw (i.e. Niv-Mizzet) goes on the stack after the spell's resolution, with obvious exceptions like replacement effects (i.e. Notion Thief).

It isn't, though it sort of looks like a centipede. As the flavour text says, it is a worm, particularly a "Bobbit worm", which is a type of marine worm with nasty nasty mandibles

Offspring is a “fixed” version of squad and I’m glad to see it in the game. This set is looking pretty rad and I’m looking forward to drafting it.
It's not "fixed," just different. That's like saying "Bloodrush is a fixed version of Channel," while one is certainly a subset of the other, that does not mean the other is broken and needed fixing.
I really like the frog names in this set with Flubs being the best froggy boy there is.
I appreciate the contrast between Flubs and Glarb versus Helga and Clement.

According to Wikipedia, the finest of all sources, Moose and Elk are the exact same species (Alces alces), with the name Moose being used in North America and the name Elk being used in Eurasia.
This distribution is attributed to the etymology of those names. "Moose" came into American English from the Algonquian family of First Nations languages, from Proto-Algonquian *mo·swa, while "Elk" has its roots in Proto-Germanic *elho. The genus and species name "Alces" also is the old Latin name for moose and is thought to have the same etymology as "Elk".
Also, about the great art in the set: I love all the art in the Season cycle, but most of them that of Season of Loss.
This set is too cute, I hope the kids who get into it because of this set stay strong, same for their parents

We still call the "European Moose" Elk. We always called them Elk, British colonists then started calling Wapiti "Elk" because if you aren't used to them a big deer is a big deer. Wapiti being the Cree and Shawnee words for "North American Elk".
Moose is originally an Algonquian word.
So I propose the easiest way to keep this clear is:
- Leave "North American" Moose as Moose
- Leave "European" Elk as Elk
-Rename "North American Elk" to Wapiti.
Thus each region can keep its original word for its animal. In English at least, the other languages can sort out their own issues.

I'm excited for your story recap, it was a fun one! Jace doesn't appear in the story other than Helga's visions. I think it"s implied that he has been there with Vraska and Loot, but is not currently there, and that Ral following Jace's trail was a bit of planeswalking misdirection.
They talk about wonderful flavor text later but didn't manager to discuss Brave-Kin Duo, the one that made me melt.

Offspring is more like Squad than Eternalize, since you make token copies in addition to the original creature. Also, the inspiration for Offspring, Offspring's Revenge from Ikoria, has you exile a red, white or black creature to make a 1/1 copy of a creature, which is one alternate Offspring cost like Cam was wanting.
For things like Long River's Pull, the whole spell has to resolve before priority goes to anyone. Them getting the card during the resolution of the spell means they can't cast anything while the spell is still resolving.
Duskmourn is going to be an enchantment heavy set.
Since Delirium is a mechanic in it, I bet there will be a lot of both Artifacts and Enchantments, since there's also the Artifact Toys.
If memory serves, Ward actually had alternative casting costs from the start. In Strixhaven, it was mostly WUG had mana ward costs, BR had paying life. AFR introduced discarding a card Ward costs for B, Bro adding sacrifices for BR, and it went from there.
According to Scryfall, Strixhaven only had Ward with the generic cost on Blue cards, with the life payment being on a Black and Black/White card. And the only Green Ward card was Adrix and Nev which were Simic and in the Commander product.

After Ral's visit to the plane, I think the return to Bloomburrow may end up being more Rats of NIHM than Watership Down
New "your opponent doesn't get to play Magic" combo: Maha, Its Feathers Night and Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite kills every creature that ETBs under your opponents' control without something else granting them at least two (2) toughness or that doesn't have a cast trigger that deals with at least one of them. Emrakul, the World Anew works, but even the other two Emrakuls don't, even though they have cast triggers, because as soon as they hit the board they die. Your opponent could probably get up to some crazy stuff on those turns...if they had any creatures.
You basically need to boardwipe because even if you get rid of one of them the other one is still a *problem.*
If they were to do a Watership Down Secret Lair I would so buy it. Love that movie and the book.
I think it's less artifacts and more so many enchantments. The classes for this set and the enchantment creatures for Duskmourn.

In terms of the Gift mechanic, either way I believe they can't counter the spell with the gifted card. Not a judge, but in my mind the interaction goes:
Cast spell > Promise the gift > Spell resolves > Opponent receives gift > Spell's effects resolve
So on Kitnap for example, they wouldn't be able to counter the spell with the card they draw but I believe they could respond if they draw a bounce/removal spell before tapping and gaining control of the creature.
To shorten it, they can't counter the spell but they can respond to the rest of the spell's effects.
Again, not a judge so take this with a grain of salt
The Promised Gift is given as part of the spell resolving. The reminder text, while not techincally rules text, does say how drawing the card happens before "the rest of its effects", meaning it's also part of the spell. They draw the card before their spell is countered, but they don't have priority to do anything during the resolution so even if they draw a counterspell they can't cast it.

in German the creature type Elk is not translated to "Elch" but to "Hirsch" which is a stag

I don't know about not having a clean card in a while. We literally just had Horrific Assault in MH3 which is just prey upon with gain 3 life if you have an eldrazi. Seems even simpler than the gift thing.
If we're including punch spells, Hard-Hitting Question from Karlov Manor is even simpler.
Very disappointed to find out Kathleen hasn't (at time of recording) read the bloomburrow story because I love their story summary TTCs and have been looking forward to it ever since reading the first three chapters.
Very excited to find out what she's been working on instead though!

Why does lilypad village say “entered the battlefield under your control” if they’re switching to “enters”?
Presumably they didn’t like how “Enters under your control” sounded
Because it's not a trigger, and it would be grammatically incorrect as "enters".
At best they would change it to just "entered" (similar to the change to "dies" and "died"), but they are probably more focused on the change to the trigger that is a far more common occurrence (5905 cards). "Entered the battlefield" is only on 69 eternal legal cards, and they probably felt it doesn't take up too much space considering how often they use it. Who knows, they may change it later.
Additional reminder that when they make changes like this, it's for a specific set of words. There are many "mill" effects that are not called mill, because they use different wording.

I feel like “enters” being shorthand for “enter the battlefield” may be questionable as future stuff is concerned. I’m sure it will be a simple line in the rules that just says “enters refers to cards entering the battlefield” but I can see a year or two from now a player saying “enters what zone?” Probably not a big deal but interesting to me nonetheless.
They already shortened "Shuffle your library" to just "Shuffle" back in Strixhaven, that's 3 years ago, and I haven't seen anyone make a fuss about that, and you could make the same argument of "what do I shuffle"?
