Wacky and Neko rigs is KING during fall for pond and bank anglers! If you don't have a boat, learn the wacky/neko rig asap. I use a daiwa med-light spinning rod with a size 2500 reel. 10 pound braid line with 8 pound flouro leader. VMC wacky hooks. I don't use o-rings tbh, I go through so many senkos that I just got sick of using o-rings lol.
Fish can barely see 10lb braided, just link directly braid to hook. I'm willing to bet you'll get more hook sets and won't notice any less bites. The flouro leader thing is an over-hyped surf fishing techniques people invented to hide EXTREMELY heavy line and add abrasion resistance. It's basically pointless in freshwater bodies.
We have had an intense lack of rainfall for a month or two now east coast) and our lake is down probably 2+ feet. A lot considering winter drawdown is only 6. Less oxygenation, less fresh water.. tough year. Inwas legitimately skunked last friday and I fished from 6am to dark. Thankfully some panfish were ambitious enough to eat bass lures so Inhad SOMETHING to make me feel better about it. We need rain bad.
Guys, I’ve been fishing wacky rigged senkos for over 10 years with an O ring set up just like Derrick. I use 5” and 6” and the only times the hook misses is if the fish hits the worm away from the hook. You will save so many baits this way. Spots will sometimes hit like that. If spots are in the area give it a one count before you set the hook.
Just don't use a leader. Braid is so sensitive you can feel every bite on the wacky(no need to glue eyes and allows night fishing). People who think fish can see the braid are hard coping. That's shit makes no difference aside not feeling bites and bad hook sets. Flouro hook sets are TRASH

That’s a good tip as well, @NineteenEighty8. Thanks for sharing.

Appreciate the thorough explanation on the setup. You mentioned that you were using 10lb fluoro, but are you using the 18 or 30lb braid backer?
Thank you for the information
@raygissendanner1476, glad I can help. Thanks for subscribing as well.
Yessss
Last year, if I just needed a bite, I would toss the Wacky Rig and bam! This year? Nada!
I feel your pain. Thats how its been this year for me as well. It still gets bit, but not as hardcore as last year.
I haven't caught but maybe 1 or 2 this yr on the wacky. The Neko with that T-mac has been the deal.

What size hook was being used?

Your wacky rig is rigged wrong! The hook goes the other way, perpendicular to the worm. Your presentation won't hook fish very well.

And you would be wrong. I've
Yet to lose one on a rig hooked this way.
