My grandparents are dead, my parents are dead, my uncles and aunts are dead, and sometimes I wish they were all still alive and around, especially at times when winter seems long and warmth and summertime seems ages away.
Every good thing they gave during their life will never be forgotten!!! You are infinitely loved and cherished!!!

This old song brings the tears, both of sadness and joy - - - the memories of dear ones lost, the passage of time and gratefulness for those we love today. Now that I'm old, the passage of time becomes precious, memories become dear and the nearness of eternity becomes a comfort. Good-bye and good riddance to 2020 and a hope for God's blessings on us in 2021.

My heart is so touched by this song. It goes back it seems so many centuries and yet just too yesterday. Life is long and strange but God is available to us. I hear him in this lovely song. Times long ago. I think I will listen to it several times today and I've sent it to my six children. Such a lovely song holistic healing and meaning.

Heart wrenching yet wonderful rendition. I am moved by your sincerity and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. All the family I have lost - mostly in tragic circumstances are with me in spirit. My warmest regards to you and best wishes for a happy New Year Susan

Dear Susan, It is new years eve 2018/2019 and I just read your post after listening to Dougie's beautiful song. I was very touched by what you said and, even though it's a year after your writing, I want you to know I am praying for you. May God comfort your heart and let you know you are not alone. Lady Guenevere in the USA.

I'm with you there.. I've lost most of my Scottish family here in the US during the last couple of years. As I listen to this gorgeous rendition by MaLean (and his Caledonia), as well as a wee dram of whiskey, it takes me back to my father, and my Scottish fam. Good days. MacLean is a special musician.
