Thank you. I changed the battery, causing the radio to require a 4 digit code. The Ford dealership require that I provide the radio part number, not just the serial number (which was available through the display) in order to supply me with the activation key code. This will help me out. I am a bit wary of bending plastic as cold as it is outside. But this video is going to help me a lot.
Hi excellent vid thank you. I’ve just bought an S Max 58 reg. it shows no errors on the dash however I plugged my diagnostic machine in as the rear parking sensors wormy working. I sorted the rear sensor but also found codes wehere the abs isn’t communicating with the yaw, steering and bcm. Do you have any idea what woukd cause that and not put the abs light on ? Cheers in advance.
YES!! Got told by Halford's today that I couldn't have a different radio in my smax because it was an integrated built in one. Can you fit any touch screen radio in an smax? Mines not the Titanium model so I've got the standard radio in. It's an 2009 model.
I have a gen 1 but facelift model (2013). My head unit looks like that but all units I se e online say up to 2011 or are gen 2. Is this just a failing on the description or are they actually different
Hi, great video, quick question my stereo started making a noise through the speakers like a crackling hissing sound, very loud, then it stopped for a few weeks then started again, now the speakers don't make any sound through the radio and parking sensors, could it be a loose connection on the back of the radio? Thanks.
Hi, not sure if this is still active ? Just a question regarding these stereo's. I have one in my 2011 Galaxy Titanium, and played the music full blast, and it just packed in and went dead 😞 I am still searching to find a correct fuse in the wiring system, and just wondered if these had one in the back of the unit ? Any help appreciated, thanks Bob.
We have just tried to take out an aftermarket stereo and put an original in and Cannot for the life of me get the aerial to work. Do you know why this could be?
Hi buddy, thanks for this. Removed mine tonight as totally dead. Any idea as to what can go in these? The fuse seems fine. Don’t suppose you know of a unit dismantle video do you? Cheers!
Hi There, Great vid, much appreciated👏🏻. After 10 years and 155k of trouble free driving (save a new clutch) in my 2009 S-Max, I now have two electrical issues that are irritating me and I really don’t want to pay £114 out for a plug I’m at ford to tell me they can’t be fixed. Been a great car and I’ve decided to run it for another year and just got it MOT’d. The first fault involves the stereo and I wonder if you could very kindly advise please; when on DAB radio it cuts back to FM and reads ‘Hardware Fault’ on the head unit. DAB then won’t work for the remainder of the journey and the message displays almost constantly. I have tried a battery disconnect ‘reset’ to no avail and I am now lost for what to do. I was watching your vid toying with the idea of getting a 2nd hand unit with code to and replacing to see if that rectifies. I heard though that there may be some wizardry that can be done to resolve via the CPU. Any help advice is appreciated. The 2nd problem is a parking sensor, the system is not working. I know the individual sensors go wrong, but I wondered if when they plug in if they can diagnose which one of the four is causing the fault. Really don’t want to change them all. Both annoying little niggles but the car itself is still excellent, but don’t want to spend too much money on them as clearly we are getting into the twilight of the cars life. Again, your kind advice is much appreciated.
Hy Buddy, I have 2008 Smax with the same stereo showed here, and I have a problem with the plug in connector ( the right channel sounds very bad). I have just changed the plug female connector ( where the cable enter the connection) but it still working bad. I suppouse there is a cable problem. Could you please suggest any way to solve this problem?
One of two things springs to mind depending if it's either both right speakers sounding bad or just the front right that's bad. If it's just the front then either the rubber weather strip where the window is has rotted enough to let water in on the speaker and so the speaker being made from card is now damaged or it is pretty common for the wires inside the rubber boot near the door hinges to snap over time. If it's both speakers on one side then problem lies with the stereo and would need further investigation.
The only extra thing to add on a DAB radio is to make sure you buy a powered internal window mount antenna, the power wire from it connects to the blue wire on 99% of radios. Do not use the mag mount external antenna as they corrode very quickly. One last thing is to make sure your antenna has the correct plug on the end, either screw fit or push fit. you can generate code directly from the serial with applications without having to contact Ford support....
thanks to your video and proper tool, this job took me about 7 min. Thanks!
Just followed your instructions and bang on perfectly explained. Thank you
Thankyou . Easy to follow .. worked well
Thanks for video it's really helpful. In my Smax both doors speakers don't work or lag and I think the problem is on the radio cables.
Excellent...thanks a very clear guide. Maybe not so easy to enact but we shall see.
Thanks a lot! This was really helpful! Your voice reminds me of Tyson Fury 😂
@@stail86 Had it said a few time that Tyson Fury sounds like me 😂
Hi. Thank you for your video, very informative, I will do the job soon.
Good video, cheers pal

I want to change my radio to an aftermarket pioneer unit. What iso harness do i need to make it work
Thanks for your instruction. Is it possible to connect subwoofer without amp to the factory Sony radio?
Yes, you would need a rca pre out converter. I have a guide on the channel showing one.
@@PJsprojects Thank you 👍

Do you have the link for installing a new entertainment kit?
Can I replace this unit for the factory fitted unit with built in Sat Nav ?

I have the same problem. Did you manage to get this sorted?
Hi, cool, have you encountered voice control not responding/Bluetooth not availible says "audio mute" /radio turns on off randomly - malfunction?

@@bobdean5728 No fuse on the back so either the fuse box fuse has blown or the units dead.
@@PJsprojects Thanks, still trying to find the fuse in car . . 😵💫
If you look in the owners manual it says the fuse for the speakers is in the fuse box in the boot.
