Never thought I would feel bad for Eve’s parents. But now it’s understandable why they are so protective and hesitant. They thought she had died before.
So sad their real child probably never had a proper funeral or anyone to remember them.
And eve's mother forced to become a birthing machine :(
I didnt, they kept calling her weird, denying her gift and isolating her for the rest of her life. Eves actual mum tho i felt bad for
@@JeidelacruzUK Considering in the Invincible universe superheros are anything but invincible her parents were probably just trying to protect her. It doesn't justify there actions but with that context you empathize with them.
I think their real child was found and assumed to be Eve, no clue what that means for a proper funeral tho
@@Shadow1YazMost likely, dissected to hell and secretly disposed of if nothing valuable to their research was found. The best you could hope for is some type of cremation at the end of it to get rid of all the evidence.
Have to give props to the doctor. The man probably ended up in hell after all of it, but he made sure she would have a loving family and would be safe
Yes…. A loving family…
Better than a lab toy away from society
Well, I wouldn't say say a loving family, but atleast its better then the worst of worst. She was raised, she grown up to be an amazing hero, that is something I give props to the doctor.
@@pedrorosa9893well to be fair, it's not like he knew them or how they would treat her.
@@pedrorosa9893 a loving family that never knew that their child is a changeling all along.
What they did for that grieving couple was both sick and sweet. It wasn’t their baby, theirs is deceased. But here’s a perfectly fine baby who needs loving parents. It’s like in nature when a rhino loses a baby but at the same time a baby has just lost its mother. So you just give her the baby and all is well
I suppose you're right... But the doctor did the right thing. It was the only way she could have a life
they do the same thing with cats and dogs in shelters, one mama looses their babies or babies loose their mama they will pair up the living ones even if the species are not the same (apparently the milk is similar enough I guess).
"LOSES" their babies. Not "looses"
@@alyssastern6073not only that, motherly instincts take over. So the mother animal will take care of the baby even if it's not their species.
But they didn't know that their baby was a changeling all along.
Eve's story is so tragic and heartbreaking especially what her mother went thru her whole life😢
@GoKentAnd Kate's
I can't believe that zavala would put the mother through such things.
Iirc, the comic version was way worse.
are you kidding? her mother had it all. all she needed to do was lay around and get impregnated by freaks.
To think what happened to her after Eve was born💀😢
Showing Atom Eve’s backstory in an special episode was a great idea. They could that to lots of characters like Rexplode, Monster Girl, Allen the Alien, etc.
I think they'll do special episodes for all of the main characters just like in the comics there are special issues explaining the origins of some characters like Atom Eve or Immortal

Agent broyles too in fringe he was awesome in that specially the episode in s3 called Lysergic Acid Diethylamdie if u havent seen it yet i recommend it, it's a great sci fi show
He also voiced Commander Zavala
@@animeman466 Indeed…
Zavala too 😢
While I still side eye Samantha’s parents a lot, this definitely puts into perspective how protective they are over her. They thought that through some miracle the baby they lost had come back, that they were given another chance, and don’t wanna squander that. Still doesn’t justify things though
Even 4 months after lances death, his voice still appears in new media. Are they trying to make us cry?
Yes
it reminds us he still lives on through his work
who's Lance?
@@fireemblemaddict128 Lance Reddick. He was a actor who had died a couple months ago.
@@fireemblemaddict128 a voice actor who passed away
This was a great special, but that image of Eve's birth mother in the chamber from the original comic still gives me shivers
was very horrifying seeing what they did to her
Crazy to think that dying in labor was the significantly more humane option.
Oh soon enough, become reality.
what did they do to her???
@@anthonyambrose7830 spoiler
After she dies they put her in a chamber where they hooked a bunch of rubes to her most if them in her womanhood in order to recreate another baby like eve
God, Lance Reddick was an acting legend & a beautiful soul and to hear his voice once again, a couple months after his passing is so heartbreaking and surreal. May he rest in peace, his work will never be forgotten
I can't think of another actor who could flip between trusted mentor/leader to menacing villain so well. He'll be missed
Amen.
If they do a follow up with this character, they should get Mahershala Ali to finish the lines.
@@wyletwoso he was your commander, too?
The Immortal didn’t realize he was wearing a letter on his own chest. 🤣
I didn’t even notice that either until I saw this episode 😂. You learn something new everyday
In his defense, it just looks like a straight line. Yet further proof that making capital I a straight line is the OBJECTIVELY worse decision to make when writing.
@@nbewarweit’s a lower case i. Look at his neck
This re-contextualises so much with her.
She's incredibly powerful specifically because she was a manufactured super weapon, she did not just get lucky with her powerset.
Her mother and farther, while they where unpleasant too her, dose make me sympathise as they did not want to lose there daughter, and even more so since they thought they lost her once, which they did of course.
Raises the question weather that group made any more super solders or if they will come back for her, look forward to fining out the answers to that!
So their solution is to push her away even more and out of their lives. They are awful and the mother is weak and pathetic
@@Ready-ForTheEnd i think i'd be the same if my child was supposedly dead but somehow came back to life
Omg this explains why they’re so… “controlling”. This short episode really makes you appreciate the characters and the world building so much more😂love the lore
you need to watch the whole episode, "controlling" may not be the word 😮💨 sadly
@@Da_pvuh oh
nah you gotta watch the WHOLE episode
@@Da_pv controlling. Is definitely part of it. They lost their daughter once, any parent would try to make up for it by giving their child a normal life. Hence why “one hour” outside despite being across the street was a big deal for them.
They KNOW she has powers. Hence why “gifted” seems worse than “weird”. They live in a world of aliens, superheroes, magic and monsters. They know the consequences of being a hero or being caught in the crossfire of a fight. He’s in denial & the whole episode made it clear. It connects perfectly with the conversation they had before Eve ran away from home. So yeah, controlling is definitely part of it.
Oh and its “controlling” cause it can be an allegory to many things a child goes through with parents that can’t accept their children for who they are.
Any child who was gay, has a condition or has a disability can relate to some of the scenes were Eve herself confronts her parents. It’s almost the exact same words they would use.
If omniman and immortal weren't beefing they would probably make good friends

@@neenster69Yeah, the show makes them look friendly compared to the comics where they hate each other😂
I love the idea of doing special episodes in between seasons that show origin stories of characters besides Mark. I hope they do specials that adapt the comic issues that featured Rex's and Cecil's origins and other characters' origins too like Allen, Battle Beast, and number of Viltrumite characters.
And that one British Guy who had his own comic
Would love to see an origin special episode for Monster Girl, Allen, Dupli-Kate, Battle Beast etc...
Maybe even do one fully depicting Nolan's arrival on Earth and get a further look into the Viltrumite Empire, although well probably most likely see more of that in Season 2 this November
How about the Original Guardians of The Globe
They'll do the showed characters first before going over the others soon. Bless the writers if they decided to make the third special series about the history of Viltrumites.
Mark is the least interesting of all the characters on this show.
"Be careful, this woman's in grave danger. The baby's a superhuman."
"We can see that."
I love that this implies that medical professionals in this world are specifically trained to be able to handle superhuman patients as well as regular ones.
100% they are NOT trained but they also are not allowed to turn her away when she is in medical need like this. Second you enter a hospital and something bad happens (even before you are admitted) anything that happens to you is THERE responsibility
"Their" responsibility.
@@alyssastern6073
I think the reason that guy said that was because the woman's glowing eye
After watching this special episode, I notice how Atom Eve was more creative with her powers and how she was kinda more powerful, the fight scenes were awesome too, I hope they keep the same pace she is in with this episode in the actual season 2.
I would love to see other characters of the series to have this kind of episode that shows their origin.
Seeing this, can understand her father a bit better on why he was so over protective of Eve
I understood him completely when he took a pause after saying “the neighbors are talking about her?!”.
The dad cares, he just sucks at conveying it verbally.

And perhaps the original Guardians of the Globe too.

This does explain her father being overprotective a bit. He thought he lost her, and it kind of drilled into him she was fragile, delicate, and vulnerable.
He never knew the truth, he did lose his daughter, and this was a genetic experiment that the scientist saw as deserving as normal a life as possible.
you should watch he full episode though...
@@averygrant7426 I get it. There’s gonna be more to it. I haven’t had the time yet. I was ok with this bit as I’ve gotten somewhat spoiled from comic info already and know what happened here
Dad is 100% overprotective BUT is also a raging misogynist like does not hide it. He is definitely abusive overall but not bad enough for something like CPS to step in. It's an odd I love you but I need control over you and will insert awkward and controlling moments in order to enforce/ show it.
I felt that too, like I know he loves her, but he is so mean to her too.
I would think he would have treated like her princess all her life, but he just judges her now
I think this is the most nicest thing from Invincible since The Baseball Flashback

That episode was so cool for Atom Eve.
About time Atom Eve got her own episode, speaking of which she should have her own comic, she has quite the compiling story
She did! This is adapted from a two-issue prequel comic.
OMFG, LANCE! Dude is a freaking legend. It would have been amazing to hear his voice even if he hadn't passed away. Now it just feels like a treat for his voice to pop up in something new. RIP Lance Reddick
Yeah, a bittersweet treat, rest in peace Lance
Lance may be gone but his iconic voice with live in our heads and hearts forever.
Yeah, I loved him❤
This omni man guy seems like a great character, looks like he is a big team player with other super heros
Blood makes you related. Love makes you family.
I just wish that applied to Eve more. That doctor was a pretty good dad, though. And her parents were pretty good. Up until her dad pretty much decided to give up.
It's stuff like this that makes me love Invincible, how even characters like Eve's parents have more to them beneath the surface
So glad the art-style and animation is still the same. I'd rather have it like this than being worsened by the years. Either this or an upgrade is something we extremely care about.

Good to see Omni man tagging along with the Gurdians of the Globe.
I hope they all get along with him in the future.
Yeah, about that....
I remember seeing an alternative future (won’t say too much about it) and it sucks, if it wasn’t for that switch being flipped (psychologically, not a real switch) he never would have betrayed his friends. Instead, he has to live knowing he took all of their lives, and the few who remain despise his guts (except his tailor)
This is very different from her comic book origin. In the comics she was only given one page to tell her story. It seems like this season is taking full advantage of the TV/Streaming medium to tell more deep and compelling stories while also paying respect to what came before.
As it should. Expanding it competently.

So I'm confused. Did the adopted parents really lose their child and the doctor just replaced the deceased baby with the super baby to save her life?
Didn't read the comics, so maybe I'd understand it more.
Heavily implied, yeah. It's kind of fucked up, but it gave a set of parents who lost their child a baby to take care of, sparing them that pain, and it protected an infant from being raised as a weapon.
Heavily implied here, straight up said in the comics yeah. He just pulled a switcheroo between their dead baby and Eve during the blackout.

Man its hard to hear Lance Riddick's voice after what happen to it shows how great of a voice actor he was.
I didnt even know he was sick
The episode was amazing and the fight was epic. If this is what we can expect in terms of animation for season 2, we are in for one hell of a ride
RIP Lance, you’ll always be a legend
Well that explains the hyper protectiveness of Eve's parents
Gotta say, it looks like had Eve’s adoptive father gone through the miscarriage of his child, he would have become a better person.(from how he was supporting his wife, making sure he told her it wasn’t her fault. The current dude absolutely wouldn’t be caught dead doing that)
Instead, because ‘she made it’, he emotionally stunted and believed he was owed every success in life, all because he was a man.
The sad thing is (assuming Eve never told them about meeting the doctor or anything he said), if they ever found out that she isn't really their daughter, that there was a switch, they both would without a doubt turn on her completely; call her a witch, call for her head, maybe even accuse her of killing their daughter so they'd take her in.
I can 100% see her 'father' doing that. But ya. It's fucked up. I think that's why Eve didn't do that. She had a trump card in her back pocket to yell at them when she's being abused by her father but she didn't. Because she knew they'd try to kill her.
I can see this from her Dad, I can see her Mother being in a shocked silence, unsure of what she wants but not stopping him either
Surprisingly Atom Eve’s origin is actually way darker in the comics
Oh Lance Reddick.
Rest in power Sir.
I’m stoked that they got Lance Reddick on this show! When I read the comics, I heard his voice when reading Ericksons lines.

That’s just beyond sick. Making them think that their baby who died miraculously came back to life.
At least they got to have a daughter in the end
It is quite manipulative. At that point, most people wouldn't ask questions. However, it gives them a beautiful baby girl and it gives Sam a chance at a happy, normal life.
@@carlycrays2831Well, I wouldn't have liked it if the Government captured baby Eve because that would have been a horrible outcome so I am glad the Doctor did what he did to save the baby just like the mother asked
Better than to leave the child to be experimented on by the government
@mahad1456 yeah no doubt they would have experimented on her and abuse her as a weapon. This really was the best option.
such a bittersweet clip. RIP eve mom.
Omni-man is so inspirational, truly a standout hero
Stephen Root knocking it out of the park, as usual
Eve didn't have tragic childhood. Eve's mother had tragic backstory. Ironically, the doctor took her mother out the streets where she would have been born and at the same time used her for his own gain. It's good that he had a change of heart, but if not for him, Eve would be a normal baby, homeless, but normal and in time she could have been adopted by someone. Luckily for him Eve regarded her powers like a gift.
She probably wouldn't have been adopted. Her mom probably would have kept her. I mean, they probably would have gone into a shelter and life would have been hard, but her mom probably would have gotten her life together to some extent.
When Ericsson talks, I cannot stop hearing Sylens from the Horizon games. R.I.P. Lance Reddick
Um dos maiores plots desse enredo. Isso ta bom demais, ta maluco
Man you'd really think with a start like this her father would be a lot more caring. Some people defend him saying he's just over-protective but honestly the freaking out over superhero antics is only part of it. He's a shit dad in so many dimensions, unsupportive, emotionally and verbally abusive, distant, constantly on his last nerve with everything non-mundane that happens around him.
And that's the thing, not all trauma can pass and become something positive.
Trauma is trauma, their daughter died, they thought she died and revived a fragile creature fighting for her life.
Even if they fight in the end he always assumed it was difficult, this is not about "you could have been a better person" but rather trauma is trauma.
i could understand him a bit in the show, but here he was a jerk even before she started using her powers, so the overprotective thing goes out of the window
This episode was a masterpiece 😊
Man this was a special treat!!!
I was worried this season wouldn't be as good because the first one had such a perfectly contained story. But this looks great.
This also can shut up every single person who cries superhero fatigue. People didn't start hating the genre, the genre started sucking nuts.
This, people got fatigued by shit stories. With good story and genre can be likeable
Facts
Stop spitting truth. The world can't take it. Besides it's that the writers 1. Can't write for sh!t. 2. When they can they're way too cynical.
Look at Watchmen. Look at how the least cynical character Rorschach ( Yes inwardly Rorschach is the least cynical character) is the only one people actually like.
Invincible is literally(funny I get to go back to the OLD, old meaning of literally, before it had to become literarily) the opposite to watchmen. Where optimism wins. It is a love letter to the genre.

And oh my god her parents are not her real parents?! Never would've thought about this just from watching Invincible S1. ughhh the wait for S2 is killing me. I love this show and the characters. I even bought the first volume of the comics because of it
When you think about it enough, it actually makes more sense this way. That Atom Eve has really op powers, makes sense that she was specifically bio engineered to be that way. And her parents being so concerned and controlling kinda clashed with someone that would experiment on their child. Now that we know their real daughter died and they were under the impression that she miraculously survived, that explains why they're overprotective now. I like how they explained it.
