I hope you enjoyed this video and thought it was helpful! I do want to mention that the toilet paper hide is best in dryer cages and substrates, as if it gets too moist it will get soggy (sorry ball python fans!) Krylon also dries non-toxic so no need to worry about your little friends! Feel free to send in pics of your homemade hides on Instagram! You can tag me @ellasxanimals or dm me :)
What a great idea !!! Would both of these options be safe in an enclosure that reaches temps up to 115 degrees fahrenheit? I will be attempting this for my bearded dragon. Did you paint the toilet paper hide?
I made Christmas ornaments somewhat like this with a flour/water/salt mixture and I was wondering if I could make an inexpensive hide this way and I'm so glad you did! Finally cheap affordable hides! I was thinking instead of toilet paper using tissue paper and watered down glue and kind of paper mache it. Then I like the grout idea that some people have used. I've been watching tons of videos and I plan on using every idea and make it into one. I'm actually really excited! I want a new leo, I have the tank now I just need hides but don't want to break the bank. Thanks for the idea and recipe!
Hi, loving this video! Thank you so much. Can I use acrylic paint to paint the tissue one? I want to make small hides for my small cornsnake. Many thanks
I already have a small box I want to use as a bearded dragon hideout. I just need to know what paints or markers could be safe if any are safe for bearded dragons. Please comment below what I can use to color The Hideout with that is safe for bearded dragons
Can I make these/some sculptures for my Giant Day Gecko?? I like using smoother things as her basking surface or just laying on top of something I can make. If so I was thinking I could smooth the outside of the hide/ sculptures. I haven't put anything rough feeling inside her tank. I don't want to hurt her. I've had her four years she's spoiled rotten to her core 😂 She wve knows her name Crimson. Thanks if anyone could help. I got a few hides made for her she loves the bamboo hide the most!
For the first one with the clay stuff mine is hard on the out side but soft on the inside so I don’t want him to use it bc he might eat it so what should I do?
They sell outdoor rated acrylic paint for ceramics. Is completely non toxic. That is the best option. You can mix in a little sand in the paint to get texture. Or use Drylok masonry paint (this is more expensive but very good at sealing out water.)
did you try this? if so how did it turn out? i’m looking to make my gecko the toilet paper hide but i want to spray it with the rock spray so it matches her tank aesthetic
That's pretty clever, won't the toilet paper one dissolve or erode in the water? Secondly for the first method, you think plastidip would be OK to water proof it?
Spray paint is not nontoxic. When completely cured it may be ok, but I don’t trust it. Acrylic hobby paint is truly non toxic. You can mix in some sand to get more texture if desired. Another good option is to use Drylok masonry paint.
Except for the fact you obviously aren't using ALL of the items. She's talking about the cost for the qty you actually used. If the rest of the oil and flour is used to make bread then it isn't figured into the cost of making a hide. So yeah probably used about a dollar worth of those ingredients per hide. Smh

Novaenri Plays thank you! I’m glad you like it ❤️
The toilet paper one is genius, rafiki (my leo) will love ittt
Rachel Barylski glad you liked it :)

You just earned a subscriber!
The last clip of your dog was hysterical!
Pretty cool. Can I use clay?
By the way, toilet paper are gold these day.
Plainrock I think you can use clay as long as it’s non toxic! And yes, the irony 😔

Nice! Thanks for the ideas 😁
Poterium thank you for watching!
Tyssm this helps so so much ☺️💖🥰
Does is have to be that brand of spray paint?
could i put this on the hot side for a leopard gecko with a under tank heat mat
can you use the first one for aquatic turtles?
Nice idea. I got some concrete to use. Wonder if I could do some concrete over top of that TP idea? Make the TP the base.
Could you dry the tp with a blow dryer to quicken the process ?
LordMikeBedlam i don’t see why not!
Can the 1st hides also be made into food and water bowls and can they be on the hot side?
Going to be doing this today! Thanks for the great video
Wait, wont the paper hide just melt when you put any water on it?
David Baer it’ll just get very wet but it’ll eventually dry out. Just keep it out of humid enclosures!
you could try coating it with Flex Seal TM from the flex family of products

Cool video !!
NicksAdventure DocumentaryChannel thank you for watching!
In the first one is the 250 degrees is it Celsius or Fahrenheit
Dolan Twinzz Fahrenheit!
That’s awesome
Is the 250 degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius?
dreams_ella Fahrenheit!
Do you have to use the Matt finish spray?
Yes
Can the first one be wet? Lol for a ball python?
Can the first hide mentioned be used as a humid hide??
Leopard Gecko It is waterproof, but I wouldn’t risk it. I use old Tupperware or glass jars for my humid hides :)
Ella's Animals thank you so much
Does it have to be matte finish
digital plague I think any finish that’s waterproof and non toxic will work!
does the dough get mouldy?
Alice Maddock I have not seen any signs of mold on mine, but if it does, throw it away.
@@ellasanimals2849 how long did it last you? Love the idea.
Does the hide mold?
Heather Lamb so far i’ve had no problems with it molding :)
cool ! what kind of gecko do you have?
Is there another way to waterproof it other than paint
Wood varnish is good for sealing but you have allow few days to dry and get rid of smell
So cool, thanks
Can I use wax to make it waterproof and can I Color it with normal paint ??

@@6strings735 so i can trough out my current hide ? Well damn thank you ❤️❤️
Amazing guide thank you 😊
Does the Finnish have to be a matte or is that just for aesthetic
Luke Lavin just for aesthetic! as long as it’s non toxic it should be fine!
Great video! I’ll definitely try making these one day. Is it in degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit?
Thank you! It's Fahrenheit :)
Could you spray the paper hide with the rock spray stuff?
boss gamer I’m not sure but it wouldn’t hurt to try!

Is this ok for the reptiles to lick or can it be poisonous?
Does. Snail cont as a reptile ha
Bobbi Cahill snails are mollusks :)
Thanks, this was very helpful. Also, do you think I could use the make it stone spray on the paper hide? Or would that ruin it
Holly Lewis i’m not sure! i think it wouldn’t be washable but you could give it a try
Ella's Animals, thank you 😊 I’ll probably just stick with the first design
That's pretty clever, won't the toilet paper one dissolve or erode in the water? Secondly for the first method, you think plastidip would be OK to water proof it?
How long does it take for the toilet paper to dry
A day in the sun should do it
I got s paper bowl and coated the whole thing with toilet paper to make it more sturdy
Is spray paint dangerous for leopard gecko
Jp vorster Vorster certain brands are toxic to animals, but this brand is nontoxic. so no worries!
Thank you
I think the spray paints poisons?
Ginger Cats as long as you use a non-toxic paint and keep it in a dry environment it should be perfectly fine :)
Spray paint is not nontoxic. When completely cured it may be ok, but I don’t trust it. Acrylic hobby paint is truly non toxic. You can mix in some sand to get more texture if desired. Another good option is to use Drylok masonry paint.
will the cave go bad since it's basically food? just wondering

My dough came out more sticky. Anyone know how to fix that?
she said in the video if it does put it back in for another hr
Do you need the finishes?
Yes, it makes the hides more durable and waterproof :)
Can you use tissues for the toilet paper one?
But i don't understand.. bread can develop mold.. and bacteria.. so why would you do that..
Is this safe for bearded dragons?
Use polymer clay for humid and hot hides. ❤
my name is ella to
Why did you need salt lol
❤️
How is that stuff around a dollar??? Tf u mean 1 dollar
NOLEN05 the ingredients themselves are more than a dollar, but if you only make a hide, then the percentage of ingredients you use is very cheap.
How about the spray paint and stuff, how much does that cost because the other stuff is almost in every home
NOLEN05 Oh yes, that would be the most expensive haha. I think I spent around 12 dollars. I should have been more clear 😂
Lol it's good, I'm getting a leopard gecko in a week.
Did this today and it came out amazing! Thanks hopefully Lucifer (uromastyx) will love it!
Brad Parks aww I’m glad it worked out for you!
Tried it wasn't moist enough. Is it just me or is it because i used gluten free flower?
Pet King I’m not sure. Maybe you could add more liquid?
Ok thnx for the suggestion

The sealer is £10 per tin and the paint is £10 per tin so not a cheap project as stated in the video!
