I used this C4 on my E46 Touring (a lot of black trim) 3 months ago. It brought it back to looking as good as new, and still does today. 3 months down the line and I'm very happy with it. Admittedly it is more expensive than the other trim restorers out there, but if it lasts as long as it claims to do (up to 2 years) then I'll be more than pleased. The prep work is key though, i cleaned all the trim with IPA before applying the C4 and it looked great from the start.
Absolutely love how you perfectly articulate the process. I call it wordy but in no way is this an insult. More youtube video makers would be wise to take not and heed the example you set; the Americans mainly. Well done!!!

Bought this last month and all I can say it's fantastic. Thanks guru car cleaning for showing this product. Yes expensive but I've never seen a product like this after 30yrs in the motor trade. 👍👍👍👍
Daren Kent I've had trouble finding the product for purchase. Last time I checked the company shut down or something, their website didn't work. Any help?
I use black magic tire wet and yes ik it's not meant for this stuff nor is it very good. But, when I got my car it was completely faded (04 expedition xlt with black plastic bumpers) and looked terrible. I did all the same steps but applied the tire wet once a week for 4 weeks and now it has fully soaked in and lasts about 4 months which is great for me considering a bottle of 23 oz is just a few bucks
Meguiar's supream shine interior spray I saturated the plastic for 2 days used 2 bottles... it staied by avalanche was faded to ash grey its black now. Do not soap ur plastic hand wash that part and re apply every few weeks as touch up
Excellent video and great product. I used a few weeks ago with great results. Be mindful to not get any on glass if doing any panels near the windows. I think I got some on windows by mistake which I'm struggling to get off.
Great results on the plastics. Now tho, for the people that don't mind doing it every now and then when they wash their car. U can use rubber seal protection. That's what I do for my tires, rubber seals of course, side skirts, door trim, even interior and so on. Yesterday I even covered my whole front end in it, since I still haven't painted my panels and bumpers. It does the job if the panel has gotten a matte look
Once again great video! By the way I've bought a few products you had listed in the description on another one of your videos, one being the mercury spray bottle. It's great, works well. Great demonstration, just got myself some of this to use on my 17 year old Discovery, the trim isn't actually too bad in most places so this should get it back to factory condition, however I think the wheel arch trims will be too much of a challenge as they are rough plastic. Even if it goes on it'll be almost impossible to buff off without the plastic tearing the towel apart. We will see.

I don't rate this product after my experience with it earlier this summer,it seems to be very hit or miss.I used C4 to coat the faded trim on a Volvo XC70.I used G101 and Panel Wipe three times to make sure i had a properly clean, bare surface before applying the C4.Results looked good initially, but the product failed within a month after receiving a weekly wash using Autoglym's Trade purple shampoo,no wash and wax products,or TFR,or Snowfoam.

Cleaned everything properly and let it dry for 2 days indoors. Wondering if other Products could do the same for a fraction of the price. I would be fine with restoring the trim once or twice a year but this stuff is not cheap 😁 But anyway great video with nice instructions 😊👍
Just stumbled on this video, thank you firstly. Secondly its so soothing to hear you talk. You should definitely get some voice over work. AudioBooks or something.
Dude, your videos seriously made me keep my car and my family's cars in tip top condition... I discovered my interests in auto detailing and I'm seriously thinking about inquiring about job openings at a well-known auto detailing shop near my house!
Went out and bought some of this after watching your video, cant say im impressed one single bit really. Tried it on the exterior plastics on my clio 182 sport and all it really did to be honest was restore colour a little bit and put a bit of a shine but other than that no better than anything else really, will have to see how it lasts but it certainly didnt put any black back into the trim just looked slightly blacker than before I started and shinier, is it worth the expense???? not in my opinion.
As always a fab video - I bought a white Jaguar sportbrake this year which has taken my obsession with cleaning to a new level! - love the hints and tips, just wish I had more time to go put some practice in!!
+car cleaning guru. If you haven't used solution finish you should try it. Works awesome on oxidised black plastic and rubber trim. In the end our choices are to either cover the oxidation or remove it through chemicals. I may be wrong but this product just coats surface but does not remove oxidation. Solution Finish penetrates into plastic and removes oxidation and finishes well. I guess it's 6's and 7's. As long as it looks ok and customer is happy. Job Done.
bing crosby yep I agree... I use it also and have been very impressed with results. It's mainly for oxidised black plastics but have also used on dark gray. Whilst the end result isn't as good as on the black it still acceptable.
bing crosby. Thanks for the tip. I watched a video by the maker of SF and he explains it has protection component in mixture. From my understanding from talking to the guys who sells it in Australia the better quality the plastic the longer the produst lasts. I normally allow to dry for a week and then visit customer and apply 303 Aerospace Protectorant over the top. If the customer is on my monthly Maintanence cycle I apply 303 each month. According to the makers of 303 it should be reapplied after 5 weeks so it fits in with monthly maintanence. I normally like to use 303 on interiors but thought I'd give it a go over the top of SF after talking to rep about drying time. 7 days he suggested. THe only problem I've had with SF is when I dressed trim on white car that had lost all clear coat and I'd restored base coat with light polish. The car was being sold. The job was for my neighbour and and an hour later it rained. The next day I noticed black streaks running down panels. I had to polish it out of the base paint that had absorbed it. Pain in the ass really. Other than that one time I have had no issues with product. As for Car Pro Reload it seems to be a silicone Detailer Spray used as an overcoating to Cquartz and the like. It can also be used on trim. But I'm not sure about putting over SF. Maybe it ok. I tend to steer away from silicone products.
TheMilenkata looks faded I have tried many restorers and they arent any good for parts that are outside and get sunrays. They are good for interior and underhood detailing, tho

Also would be great if you could make a video to show how to polish out scratches in plastic and also how to maintain and rejuvenate old rubber window seals that are weathered
It doesn't last. You're just as well off to wipe some transmission fluid (that's right; even just motor oil is fine) on your faded exterior rubber/vinyl and wipe off excess with a clean cotton cloth. Works terrific and lasts a few weeks; cost: next to $0.
That's pure BS, I used this 3 years ago on my 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander (mainly the badly sun-faded trim around the windshield and wipers) and it still looks like new, 2 summers later.
looking pretty sharp! our our 04 ford focus has some faded trims which i accidentally waxed last year. they now became white and that white residue is pretty hard get rid off :(
oh my goodness is that your real speaking voice!?!?! its sooo pleasant, you should be a professional narrator or make an app where you recite poems! it's so calming and everything my Texan dreams could ever dream up for a British guy - you're amazing!! Anyways, if I was going to use this on my 2 door Jeep Wrangler how many bottles of the C4 would you recommend buying?
Also someone told me to rub acetone on them to get off the "dead layer of plastic" since my jeep if 14 years old. Do you think that if I did that and then did this the next day it would help restore and get rid of the gray? My trim is a lot worse off than yours.
The 22 quid stuff applied after the 78 quid wipe , set you back 50 quid a year since itll last about 2 years . Results look great , also still on the 15th of May .Did you leave out the rear part ? Looks very old and not treated .
After using the C4 on the trim, is it safe for me to use plastic protectant or does that decrease the effectiveness of the C4? If the C4 last about 3-4 years I cant imagine how long it would last with regular maintenance washes and plastic conditioners.🙌
Great video! Any tips on water spots on tinted windows? I have a 2012 Dodge Journey and it looks like the previous owner washed the vehicle without methodically drying it and now there are water spots on all of the glass.
Halfords used to do a interior cream renovator back in 2000, it was the best product I ever used. It made the trim come up looking new and had a lovely eggshell satin finish. Does anybody know who made this for halfords or is it available under a different brand name?
when i had the 1998 Corsa cdx 1.4 it had plastic trim around the fenders and the doors.i was looking for to restore it try lot of products and with the new corsa edition 2016 that's gone other like to try it out if i know where to buy it. did a nice job for your 440 and great video
I enjoy all your videos and took your advice on this C4 and it did a good job of restoring Volvo (similar to yours) trim, but what do you recommend to use on plastic trim to keep it from needing restoring in the first place?
WD40 turns old faded trim back to black,I was surprised how good it looked. works better than the proper spray I had previously used and has stayed black for much longer too.
i didnt even know there was such a product to restore plastic. i thought i was just stuck with this gray mess on a 2012 model year car! off to the interwebs to see what i can find like this in the US!
Paint thinner and boiled linseed oil works good as well and probably less pricy mate. We usually don't use that lingo here in Canada but I thought I would use it as it what you use! CHEERS
Great video, do you know if you can get these products online? Plus i have a 2002 volvo S40 with very tired looking trim, but the trim on the front and rear bumpers have suffered scrapes, can i still use this product on a uneven surface? Can you recommend an alternative?
Hi, thanks for the video. I just got a 1996 Volvo 850R Estate with extremely faded grey bumpers. I had it newly painted, but the bumpers greatly detract from the rest of the car. What product would you recommend to restore the sun faded bumpers (the Gtechniq C4 product description says it’s not for extremely faded trim)? Very glad to see you do this on a Volvo since many models have non-black trim. Hi from the San Francisco Bay Area.
You could try a hot air gun (carefully) rather than expensive chemical application. Heat reactivates the oils in the plastic, bringing them to the surface and restoring original appearance.
Hot air gun is actually damaging plastics. You can use the chemo as many times as you can (me myself used a really strong Plastic conditioner severall Times, and they still looks fine. While my buddy did the Heat gun thing two times and had to replace some exterior pieces), but using Heat gun more than twice, might left you with damaged plastics.
Great show my friend. A very good review of g4. I like it but the size looks a bit small. I would Likely need a 2nd coat. All the best from Australia 🙃
A can of flat, bumper black paint works great if you don't mind taping off your whole vehicle. It'll last 3-5 years at least. Of course, some surfaces you can't paint. That stuff in the vid looks good, though!
You're just as well off to wipe some transmission fluid (that's right; even just motor oil is fine) on your faded exterior rubber/vinyl and wipe off excess with a clean cotton cloth. Works terrific and lasts a few weeks; cost: next to $0.
Great video! But with al these trouble, I might as well spray paint the trims in car. colour. I actually own a V40 too and literally everthing is spraypainted now. Freshes the car up, and makes it look 10 years younger.
Alright there la, how does this feel after application please? Does it feel like the greasy, slippy silicon a bit like flash dash or just the normal feel? Many thanks.
There's something very therapeutic and calming about your videos. Great job. Thanks.

Try hot air gun to restore faded plastic interior and exterior, it does miracle
It does until it doesn't. Using a heat gun actually leaves the plastic without oil, leading to cracking, even faster fading and more. Not recommended.

Ganbala you need to prepare your plastic for paint. Not just clean and paint
when i had the 1998 Corsa cdx 1.4 it had plastic trim around the fenders
and the doors.i was looking for to restore it try lot of products
and with the new corsa edition 2016 that's gone other like to try it out if i know where to buy it.
did a nice job for your 440 and great video
C4 lasted 1 year on my bumpers. I was so happy.
Any chance of a follow up on how it looks now, nearly 2 month's on?, cheers.
Your videos are downright therapeutic
I enjoy all your videos and took your advice on this C4 and it did a good job of restoring Volvo (similar to yours) trim, but what do you recommend to use on plastic trim to keep it from needing restoring in the first place?
WD40 turns old faded trim back to black,I was surprised how good it looked. works better than the proper spray I had previously used and has stayed black for much longer too.
any update ?
i think wd40 will make it worst in the next few months
i didnt even know there was such a product to restore plastic. i thought i was just stuck with this gray mess on a 2012 model year car! off to the interwebs to see what i can find like this in the US!
I just applied Cerakote , worked great!
Nice stuff, never knew it existed. Specially handy when your restoring young timer cars.
Brilliant vid mate. I own a volvo v50 and your tips and tricks are excellent. Thank you
Love the look of a V50 especially in R-Design trim.
Great video, and just shows just how good this gear is!
I hope my car won't blow up with all that C4 😁
keep up the good work 👍
I didn't know Ringo Starr cleaned cars.
Peace and love!
Ringo specializes in brake drums...
Ringo Starr the best detailer in the world? He's not even the best detailer in The Beatles!
I thought Thomas the tank engine had gone into the plastic rejuvenation business.
Bumpers = £5 each. Yellow Submarines = Call for a quote
Can I use it on rubber trims too? Does it hold well like on the plastic?
What do you think of the heating method of black plastic trim restoration?
Is it just me or is this guys voice/accent completely mesmerizing? (and no, I'm not gay)
lol ya sure?
You're gay now lol
It's not just you. Mesmerizing is a good word for it. I need him to voice-overs on my videos!
You are gay confirmed.
Sure lol
You could try a hot air gun (carefully) rather than expensive chemical application.
Heat reactivates the oils in the plastic, bringing them to the surface and restoring original appearance.
Hot air gun is actually damaging plastics.
You can use the chemo as many times as you can (me myself used a really strong Plastic conditioner severall Times, and they still looks fine. While my buddy did the Heat gun thing two times and had to replace some exterior pieces), but using Heat gun more than twice, might left you with damaged plastics.
hot air (i.e. as the sun itself is hot!) will do NO good to your car. Facepalm
@@stfuplsok it's the uv rays not heat that degrades plastics
@@dom9816 do/have you ever heard about Thermal Degradation?
Great show my friend. A very good review of g4.
I like it but the size looks a bit small. I would
Likely need a 2nd coat. All the best from Australia 🙃
Thank you i have same car as yours and i always keep fighing those trims they never want to be black xD maybe need to try this :)
How's the durability of Gtechniq C4? I've been planning to use this, but not if it does not last long. If I can get 1 year out of it...then I'm in!!!
A can of flat, bumper black paint works great if you don't mind taping off your whole vehicle. It'll last 3-5 years at least. Of course, some surfaces you can't paint. That stuff in the vid looks good, though!
You can just hit the trim with a heat gun on lowest setting. The heat brings the oils in the plastic back up to the surface
You're just as well off to wipe some transmission fluid (that's right; even just motor oil is fine) on your faded exterior rubber/vinyl and wipe off excess with a clean cotton cloth. Works terrific and lasts a few weeks; cost: next to $0.
Nice V40 - going to attempt to do this to mine using some DIY alternatives instead of the actual product.
I love C4,
super easy to use and its been 6 months since I applied on my car and still no sign of fade at all.
Lies
just a suggestion- touch up the stone chips/rust spots to prevent further corrosion.
Great video, learned a lot in preparation of applying CarPro DLux to my car!
