It'll still be there... waiting. I had really long hair in my mid 20's. A friend's 4 year old daughter had only ever seen me with a hat on, and my hair pulled back in a ponytail. One day, she walked up to me, and carefully pulled off my hat. Her eyes got huge as I shook out my hair, and she backed up until she could hide behind her parents legs, taking my hat with her. I told it was okay, it's just hair, and offered to let her feel it. She shook her head no. Her dad asked if she wanted to give me my hat back, again no. When I was done, she peeked around again, saw the hair monster was gone, and heaved the biggest sigh I have ever heard from a child.

That's actually what a lot of her dialogue is. She's is constantly hearing everyone else's thoughts and can't always distinguish them from her own due to the torture she was put through.
All these are great. That bit at 6:31 and what came right before it in that episode was really interesting to me because it gave us some real insight into just how her brain had been damaged. She saw and picked up an object that had the shape of a gun, but while people's brains would automatically recognize that shape and alert us that it's a potentially deadly weapon, hers did not. Her brain couldn't make the connection from seeing the shape to recognizing the shape. To her it was just an object.
Summer Glau is a wonderful actress. I can relate to River Tam due to having autism. River Tam has autistic behaviour due to mental trauma she sustained when Alliance scientists experimented on her brain so they could turn her into a assassin.
@Daniel Williamson During this Scifi Action thriller she was Almost beautiful Summer almost became a Poweranger but she ultimately was cast instead as River Tam
It wasn't so much about turning her into an assassin, she could read minds at times and when the top-level people in the Alliance (I think it was) met with her, she learned some of their secrets, including about Miranda and the origin of the Reavers.
I took that personality database test that tells you what characters you’re most similar too. River tam was my top character, but I had never heard of her before so I had to check it out. She’s interesting lol.
River taking Jane’s food is almost a sign of respect. She could be doing it because she is wary of drugged food and knows Jane would only pick good food for his plate. Or it’s like a buddy messing with a friend.
Every time I see this guy, I keep thinking of Crowley from 'Supernatural'. 😂 Also, River is basically every special needs person on earth, including me. (I was really born with special needs)
They continue post-Serenity in the comics. River is still very much River, but without the horrors of what happened on MIranda ricocheting around her head (which she learned about via hearing about it through a (presumably) horrified Senator, only compounding the emotional weight) she's getting better. They don't write her as getting 'normal-normal' but rather attaining a state of 'River-normal'.

A bit bothered that you cut out "You don't fix the Bible. It fixes you." Even if you're atheist, this is still a good quote from a purely objective point of view toward people who DO believe in it. The ones that don't take away others' rights because of it, at least.
Book said that about "faith" not the Bible, but your point is still good. He also later made the point to Mal that "faith" did not need to be in God. Which fits more in line with what Kaylee said to Mal in the pilot... "you just have to have faith in people."
I don't think that most atheists are waiting to be suddenly surprised by a new interpretation that makes your bible "right." I am just living my life unencumbered by your BS.

It wasn't so much about turning her into an assassin, she could read minds at times and when the top-level people in the Alliance (I think it was) met with her, she learned some of their secrets, including about Miranda and the origin of the Reavers.
of all the perfect moments in this short lived series:2:15-2:45. amazing.
The no touching guns scene should have been followed by the scene from the shootout where they rescue Mal. Would have been a poetic follow up.
I took that personality database test that tells you what characters you’re most similar too. River tam was my top character, but I had never heard of her before so I had to check it out. She’s interesting lol.
Every one of her lines carries a double meaning.
I thought this would feature fight scenes (which are also great) but this is just a bunch of sweet moments from the show! Well done!
River taking Jane’s food is almost a sign of respect. She could be doing it because she is wary of drugged food and knows Jane would only pick good food for his plate. Or it’s like a buddy messing with a friend.
Greatest show ever
I will say the same upside with the bounty hunter jubel was by far the best episode with summer in it
4:17 _"It doesn't matter. It'll still be there, waiting..."_ 😆
Missed one quote; "Just keep walkin', preacher man."
All the videos on TH-cam and none has my favorite scene when they land on that dead planet and she speaks in Chinese
Every time I see this guy, I keep thinking of Crowley from 'Supernatural'. 😂
Also, River is basically every special needs person on earth, including me. (I was really born with special needs)
No power in the verse can stop me! Where was that one?
They attacked some station... With that ridiculous torturer I think.. Niza. Can't remember the episodes name
@@Zaluskowsky I don't want to know which episode it is. I want to know why it's not in this video :P
@@ArmyGuyClaude lmao ok
i love her so much
From the TV show not from "Serenity" I'd love to see what she's like after she was "OK" from the end of "Serenity".
I kind of liked her better screwed up...
Kevin Ryan yeah, same. It was kind of adorable. But i dont think she was truly fixed. Her brain was physically damaged so she cant fully be fixed
@@valashar5313 Yeah I meant "River" normal. She'd still be a "Reader" she'd still be able to kick a serious amount of ass. She just might play better with others you might say.
Wasn't there a scene where she shoots 3 guys?
Exactly that's the only reason I came here to see that epicness 😕
+KuraMad2000 Yes, in "War Stories". Kaylee recounts it to the crew later (in "Objects In Space") because she fears River may have potentially dangerous abilities.
+KuraMad2000
With her eyes closed, yes. Don't know why that wasn't included.
+Mina264 I refer you to the answer I gave 1 month ago...
+Mina264 nope. the scene I'm referring to she just picks up a gun and takes out 3 guys bam bam bam without even looking. our first taste of River's kickassedness before serenity
"I like her"
Say what you will, but he respects strong women
A bit bothered that you cut out "You don't fix the Bible. It fixes you." Even if you're atheist, this is still a good quote from a purely objective point of view toward people who DO believe in it. The ones that don't take away others' rights because of it, at least.
It wasn't River's lines, tbh.
Akshay Mathur It was a moment that included River.
Book said that about "faith" not the Bible, but your point is still good. He also later made the point to Mal that "faith" did not need to be in God. Which fits more in line with what Kaylee said to Mal in the pilot... "you just have to have faith in people."
El Jison oh shit.
you just completely changed the meaning of this series for me.
I don't think that most atheists are waiting to be suddenly surprised by a new interpretation that makes your bible "right." I am just living my life unencumbered by your BS.
" The Bible is broken, it doesn't make sense" when you think about it that is deep when you think about the context of the scene we are watching
It gets deeper when you realize she isn't talking about the Bible, she's talking about herself.
The most kick-ass character ever!!
River is the best!! #queen
Crowley had no idea how much danger he was in.
River Tam's best moments without the "no power in the 'verse can stop me" scene or diving into the the reavers scene?
YES!!! moremoremoremore!!!!!!
Noah’s Ark is a problem …. We have to call it “Early State Quantum Phenomenon” it the only way you can fit 5,000 species of mammal on one boat.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"It's broken. It doesn't make sense,"
It really, really doesn't. Does it?
Preacher, long ago in a former life, was a detective in New York City, Greenwich Village. He worked under a Captain Barney Miller.
He's from Evansville, Indiana.
A producer needs to resurrect the series Firefly. Only one series was made, not nearly enough.
Why? So you can have the lesbian with feminist hair cut as the superheroe who has no problem kicking everyone's ass?
Summer is only barely a second to Jewel.. My god they are cute! in the end though... i pick Jewel, (her with her parasel!!)
i took a test to see what fictional character i am , i got her , i’ve never watched this but it seems interesting
Thats why I'm here too.
Me too!
Oh snap! River must make no sense out of context, and only some sense in context. What a shame, maybe we could have gotten more flashbacks of before all that crazy academy time.
What about the scene in episode 5 where a very young River gives big brother Simon a bad time?
So cute... and so deadly.
When you roll a natural 20 on bluff.
How do you eat an ice planet?
