@@anecro Yea thats true. Just make the aliens a lot weaker. Basically harmless and silly. You can either just give the player a ton of bullets or make it really easy to wack them over the head and then they just stay down. They should probably also add a map or minimap; either that or just waypoints.

Nah, the main music is a reference to the movie Signs, as is the baseball bat weapons and the aliens clicking speak. I like that better than pulling a Destroy All Humans style of music.
@@HAZZARD2099 I would like that too, sure, but then this game would need a LOT more fixes than just a few things that can be done in a few weeks. Because the story and writing is nowhere near good enough for that.
The Greyhill Incident is the greytest game of the year. In development since twenty-greyteen, it ultimately grossed even more than smash hit Morbius, quickly earning over 100 greyhillion dollars.

Apparently the game is like 30 minutes of actual gameplay and was made confusing on purpose to make people get lost and take more than 2 hours to beat it so they can't refund it. Simply ingenious.
@@MaTaMaDia He has no source. It's just some bullshit claim a few people have made with no evidence. Some guy told me they didn't play test the game. I asked him "How would you know? Were you on the dev team?" He of course didn't respond because people love to make false claims but back out when people call them out on it.

They have release dates to meet and once that release date comes, whether it's buggy or not, or tested or not, they have to release it. They have been releasing patches like madmen since launch to address everyone's issues. Anyways, regardless of whether it LOOKS tested or not, don't make claims you can't support. People who do that just make themselves look like morons.

The first couple of seconds had so much potential, then it turned into nancy drew quality.
You summed it up perfectly. It’s that odd blend of incredibly stereotypical, but taking itself seriously most of the time. Except horror doesn’t work for a Nancy Drew game, and it doesn’t work here either.

@@spacebassist I just rewatched some of the footage after watching this playthrough and the War of the Worlds gameplay still looks terrifying. It might not be the impending fear that Joel wants but it’s more of a looming fear of the unknown already after him.

The gameplay I watched today looks much further along in terms of terror and how they destroy shit. Just seeing them in the distance and hoping to stay hidden feels so right for what it is

@@patheticidiot I think the problem is that it it's not very good at making it clear that it's a shitpost. The jokes mostly don't really land so you're left wondering if the game is being serious or not. The fact that it tries to be a horror game doesn't help either. It's also not very fun to play.

Such a waste of potential, man. I really liked the idea that the you're already thrown into a scenario where people are aware of the aliens (or something else) and are at least preparing for the attack. It didn't need the rush of "damn I was walkin down the street, saw a light and then I woke up in my bedroom with a itch on my shoulder. What could that be?", you have this sense of early urgency that isn't common on games like this. You don't need to go after the weird dude and go "Little green men from Mars? What?!" You don't need to convince anyone that some shit is about to go down. But then the ufo who abducted the mc's son is a fence away from him but he gotta go around it instead of just jumping over it, and the grey dudes just show up without build-up. You get used too quick to them chasing you around, like Joel did. The devs clearly got inspirations from "Alien Abduction!", which is nice. The UFO not moving on a field, the aliens wearing black suits, etc. But the film does a better job in making you feel uncomfortable with what's going on. You get a good look at the aliens early, the camera guy films them for a good 10 minutes and when they get back home, you're already worried for the family. Even when the dad gets the shotgun, you don't feel like it will do much, since he's scared shitless.
Anyway, alien game is not good, again. Fuck.

Saw the new Amnesia game, (That looks really fun and tense), in which it has The Gun, but it take an entire Century to reload.
It got me thinking;

Like, you're trying to reload The Gun , but your hands are so shaky from all the tension, that the bullets just drop out and you have to pick them up which just takes EVEN longer to reload.
I don't know how to program worth anything, but I come up with the weirdest ideas for my (Daydream) games.

@@kommandantwunder6785 You say that, but in Hunt Showdown, a literal FPS game, pretty much every gun takes a century and a half to reload. The shotguns are absolutely terrible, both in terms of range and reload. You know you fucked up somewhere when the best shotgun available to you is at the very start and it's a single-shot.
My other twist with "The Gun" in a Horror Game is this;
You find a shotgun or rifle type weapon in the game, but there is no ammunition. At all. It doesn't exist.
So, you're carrying this thing like a club and whacking monsters with it, and it's the slowest, heaviest piece of s**t ever. But it hits like a Freight Train.
Very risk vs reward type weapon.
It's not RNG or a horror game, but Receiver is a game where you have to manually load your guns. As in, you have to actually put bullets into a magazine, insert the magazine into the gun, chamber a round, and make sure the safety is off. Having to reload when one of those flying enemies is chasing after you can be stressful.

I think the gun could have worked if it didn't do anything to them. It'd give a very good moment where some players would feel safe with the gun until they realized the bullets were doing nothing. Then the real fear would set in.
I love how Joel can't stand the idea of even having alien creatures around in a game like Signal Simulator yet in a creepy, eerie environment he laughs at them.
