    Finally!! A comparison between the 12T and the new BL-2S system. Half the videos I see are people ranting about how the BL-2S system isn’t as good as the VXL system and I don’t get why they think that’s a correct comparison. This the Titans replacement! This is the new era stepping in. Before you know it, the titan will be gonzo

    • @rockyfortenberry5845

      And now the titan is going bye bye. And so is the stampede. I overheard the traxxas dealer rep telling my local hobby shop all this a week ago.

    Love seeing these trucks pushed to their limits. 16t pinion definitely seems aggressive for that motor. 200F seems a bit on the hot side for me, even 180 is kinda toasty. I usually see most people recommend staying around 160 for good performance and lifespan. I've run motors upwards of 200 and some of them can take it pretty well, but it's definitely pushing them. Given the temps and slow acceleration, I think I'd probably run a 15t personally, maybe even a 14t. I bet that would give you the perfect balance of top speed, good launches, and keep the motor temps well under control. I'd also be willing to bet that the stock ESC is just kinda lazy. Velineons are usually set up to have really low punch and it's not adjustable, so I find the initial throttle response is just kinda spongy feeling to me. Doesn't have the instant torque and power all at once when you jam on the throttle, and if you only give it a little bit of throttle it just feels like you're not getting much power. Pair that motor up with a Hobbywing EZrun, and turn up the punch a couple levels, and I bet that thing would spin 4 tires on command for 100ft no problem. Just doesn't have that kinda kick with the stock ESC. Of course, 3s could also really take that thing up a notch and I think the motor would be just fine on 3s with the stock gearing, especially being a 3300kv.

    My guess is that it's geared down at the factory because they expected people to be running it in grass. Grass is nothing more than a heat generator when it comes to RC stuff. So it's probably got a lot of headroom as long as you stay out of the grass, but a lot of new to the hobby people run in their yards because they don't have dedicated places to drive.

  • @V8chump
    @V8chump ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So mark, what would be a good safe motor and esc temp for longevity of the electronics? I know you said 200 and 180 but I feel like that might effect the lifespan of the system if you’re consistently close to those numbers… some guys say “if you can’t touch it for a couple seconds it’s too hot”… 200 and 180 would burn you pretty good if you did that! 😅😂

    • @NerfCraft
      @NerfCraft ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the time I see people recommend keeping your motor around 160 for good lifespan. Some of them can run upwards of 200+ and I've done it, but you are really pushing them. As for the ESC, I don't usually pay close attention to their temps cause they have a built-in thermal cut-off, however 180 seems a little aggressive there to me. I'd probably try to keep it around 140-160 max myself, but usually I just set the thermal cut-off and leave that to protect the ESC for me and I've never had an issue with that.

    • @NerfCraft
      @NerfCraft ปีที่แล้ว

      @@V8chump I've done that method. Seems to be more of a quick check if you don't have a temp gun around. To be fair though, I'm pretty sure I don't have 100% feeling in my fingers anymore though. I could touch a 140 degree motor and it would feel very warm, but Dad would swear it's burning hot if he touched it. Maybe just use the temp gun, or if you are going to touch it, just touch it for a second first to see if you can feel the heat. Tap on it a couple times it won't have time to burn you, but you'll know pretty quick if it's too hot to touch.

Traxxas knows that most upgrade to systems more powerful than the vxl 3s so they’re either developing a new 3s class or are content with just selling this to everyone. Personally I want to see the 540xl in everything but still think that this is a great first 4x4 truck. Even for us experienced hobbyist that will upgrade anyway it’s basically a better version of the 4x4 trucks for $70 cheaper than the old vxls.

      @@dylanwhite6539Speaking from first hand experience, the 540XL actually handles great in the Rustler 4×4. I have it in mine, and actually had a 2200 shoved into it for a while 😂

      @@bazis98 I have basically the same thing. Swapped a rustler chassis in a hoss. The 540xl is a great motor, perfect for any 3s or 4s truck.

    The point of this video was to test gearing. And you failed. Is this a crappy tv show where they always need cliff hangers? Shoot a video n put all the info into it. come on man

    I want to see him pull the BL2's off the shelf. Absolute crap. What garbage? I wish I bought a VXL. I knew this was going to be such a piece of trash whenever trust traxxass again, if I don't see the speed on the box I'm not buying it

      The speed on the box is meaningless, it’s just marketing. And yeah of course the vxl system is going to preform better it’s more expensive and can run on 3s… your complaints all just sound like a result of your own ignorance lol
