I prefer slightly rough towels myself. Some of the ones that are too fluffy don't seem to absorb the water in my experience. I am one of those oddballs who likes a lower thread counts on bedsheets which holds the starch better and there is simply nothing like sleeping on freshly starched sheets. That is the reason I have a mangler to iron and starch mine at home.
Completely agree. It seems like I can get dried off better when the towel is thinner. I found some fantastic towels on Amazon that were both thin AND very soft. Just a perfect towel.

Totally agree with you. Simonne and I had an adventure on the Adventure of the Seas. Old lady of a ship, public areas were OK but the cabin and the disaster area of the balcony needed some loving care. Balcony rails were a mass of rust and decay, most disappointing, being we both like to relax there. It truly is sad that RCL and many of the other resort ship companies are more concerned in the money part than keeping the ships in good repair. I always say vote with your wallet and make good choices. OK rant over! We really enjoy your trips and comments. Until the next wave, have a great life.
Ben and David, I love your square cabin. It's so easy to navigate. Ample balcony space, too, which allows plenty of natural light to flood the cabin. I always enjoy your nephew, the precocious Oscar; he's like a mini Ben. 😊

I used to work in a very grand hotel in a Swiss ski resort. My god we HATED the Russian Orthodox new year holiday when the wealthy russian tourists took the place over. But they spent like drunk sailors on shore leave so the hotel management turned a blind eye to pretty much all their bad behaviour!
You aren't wrong about the Russian's. When I worked as a cruise representative, the only travel agents that were rude were the Russian ones. I hate to say that but it's true.
@@jaengen I've seen my share of Ben & David's videos where they talk about passengers from other country's rude behavior directed at right at them. Sadly, civility has left social spaces when people are smooshed together, anymore.
I went to Egypt earlier this year and was one of maybe 10 Brits in the entire hotel, the rest were from Russia - can confirm from speaking to the hotel staff that it's a cultural thing, they were all really glad whenever they got to meet some Brits because we're "actually nice"

We visited Bali and we noted the same issue there. We were told they are trying to miss being made to go into the military. We also noted that at the breakfast buffet they take lots of food away for the day. We watched one couple fill up their babies pram with extra food. I do admit that I did take away an apple or muffin occasionally. I hope you have had a lovely time in Australia 🇦🇺. Your nephews are so cute.

I’ve done 8 RCI cruises but 3 weeks ago I did a cruise on Carnival Luminosa from Sydney to Whitsundays and I was absolutely amazed at how clean the ship was and within hours of being on had a sign on the door to say Balcony cleaning the next morning, the signs were right along our corridor. So impressed with my cabin as well , the staff were constantly cleaning all over the ship.

When I worked in Helsinki the signs are in Finnish and Swedish with many also in English The fascinating thing was when there were signs about social behaviour etc. the signs were in FOUR languages they were always in Russian. In public saunas when there were a lot of Russians sauna etiquette which is sacred was ignored by the Russian users so the boorish behaviour of Russians abroad is a known quantity.

We stayed at a hotel in Paris that had quite a few Russians. I didn’t notice any bad behavior, but they all looked like the Russian mob characters on TV shows like ‘Law and Order ‘ !

On our Orient cruise with the MSC Euribia there were also a lot of Russians on board but they were actually all fine. I didn't notice anything negative, it was a wonderful cruise
We’ve done level 7 on the Ovation of the Seas and the only thing blocking was the very top of the crane. We saved so much plus had an extra big balcony. We loved it so much that we’ve booked it again out of Singapore.

We cruised back in May of this year on Celebrity Eclipse to Bermuda. Our cabin was an aft-facing balcony on deck 6, classified as obstructed view. The only obstruction was the roof of the specialty restaurant below, so our view was very similar to the obstructed view in this video, so not a problem for us either. We loved it! And the savings was awesome!
I agree with you that the "square" cabins are really great. We stayed in 6654 on Anthem which is the exact same as yours except on the opposite side of the ship. I would say it's actually my favourite cabin I've stayed in on any ship and I would book it again in a heartbeat. 🤩

Great video. I'm looking forward to the upcoming videos. I noticed the soot on the balcony-is it from the smoke stack? In our past experiences with some balcony cabins, this was a significant issue. Despite the staff's daily cleaning, the soot would reappear by mid-afternoon, making it a persistent problem. We've also encountered this in some aft cabins also. I've found that aft cabins with an overhang tend to have less of this issue. On a related note, I'm curious if Royal has plans for more cruises from Dubai to Asia, or was this a one-time event?

We always ask the cabin steward😊 to leave 2 sets of towels in the morning when servicing the cabin. Problem solved.

Great video. I'm looking forward to the upcoming videos. I noticed the soot on the balcony-is it from the smoke stack? In our past experiences with some balcony cabins, this was a significant issue. Despite the staff's daily cleaning, the soot would reappear by mid-afternoon, making it a persistent problem. We've also encountered this in some aft cabins also. I've found that aft cabins with an overhang tend to have less of this issue. On a related note, I'm curious if Royal has plans for more cruises from Dubai to Asia, or was this a one-time event?
