I enjoy your videos and how you promote small business. I live near the mountains in Montana, U.S.A. and have never been to your part of the world, but my dream is to visit Brocklesby in North Lincolnshire. It was the home of my ancestor the Earl of Yarborough. Thank You, Take care :)
Oh wow! Stay tuned then because in a couple weeks, Great Limber is up - thats Brocklesby's neighbour. Brocklesby itself will also get an episode at some point too
You say the police station is a ‘modern building’. Well I went on a school trip there not long after it opened - nearly fifty years ago…..Christ I’m old. I left Gainsborough in 1983, so it’s good to see the old town presented in such a respectful and positive way.
Thank you for this a blast from the past I used to live in Gainsborough many years ago and even went to Middle field lane secondary school your tour brought back some memories 😊
I moved to Trinity Street in 1985 from Epworth. Gainsborough seemed like a big city for us then. I loved watching this one. Keep up the good work Andy.
This brought about some memories of forgotten. I used to walk Ropery Road every day for a few months while I worked at Manor Nursing Home in Morton. Also learned to drive round the housing estates, the examiner was notorious for failing women and after a couple of attempts with the idiot I went to Doncaster, did a crash course on roundabouts and passed first time. I'm trying to remember what was on the Tesco site originally. I remember going to Morrison's from Gringley on the Hill before Tesco was built as it was the closest supermarket.
Tesco was another part of Marshalls I believe. It was massive. Our school bus used to go along Trinity Street and as far as I can recall it was their warehouses all the way up to the traffic lights. I learned to drive in Lincoln. Not much better to be honest. Test centre was in a horrible place too, near a very difficult (for learners) junction
hey andy thanks for the video... i might be moving to gainsbourough on the 22nd august 2023. as im in melton mowbray at the moment and looking for somewhere in lincolnshire to live...
I can certainly recommend Gainsborough! You may have seen I've got a lot of other Lincolnshire videos already so there's plenty of nice villages on offer too. I'm getting closer to Melton as well, so look out for Leicestershire stuff close to you soon!
Use to do door to door deliveries in the early to mid 90s and Gainsborough was the Wednesday Round. First call was opposite what is now the rhubarb patch. Always found the people to be nice and friendly until one customer asked why I was early, said I was going out that night as it was my birthday, she said "what is it, 21 again?" , that was my 21st birthday :)
Your visits are fantastic! Thank you. We’re going to be moving to near Gainsborough (Lea) very soon and this has given us so much useful and interesting information about the town. Will you be visiting Lea or is it a bit too small? Keep up the good work and the cycle shop that sponsors you is good to know about.
What has your first year in Gainsborough been like? I’m considering moving there but have heard some awful things about the place. However, it looks like a quaint, well serviced town near to beautiful open countryside (all that I want). I’d be grateful for your feedback.
Hi Andy, we love Gainsborough and you did the town justice, well done ! However some positive criticism if I may? Too many adverts on this one, not sure if you can control that or is it TH-cam capitalising on your success? The video seemed a bit long as well, I think that was down to a lot of driving round in the latter half of the video? Hope you don't mind me trying to be positive with my comments!
No, can't control that. The length dictates the number of them. YT will always shove a few more in where there's space. Mind you, the ads aren't a bad thing - they are after all, how TVI is able to continue. On the length thing - I aim to make my episodes between 10-30 minutes, but I don't mind the occasional 31-40 job when I hit a place with a big population. There's much more to cover after all. From experience, you can bet that if I didn't put so much in, someone would say "where was xyz?!" 🤣
Technically private property. From a legal standpoint, you do need permission. Given what happened with Westwood Cross in Broadstairs & Peters, I wasn't prepared to chance it
@@TheVillageIdiot the grounds would normally be in the bigger areas so plenty more 3 hour walks....lol....great video, such a lovely place but it strikes me that it has it's "rough" areas too
@@johnmulhern2833 It does unfortunately but it is getting better in my opinion. Back when I was at school, Park Springs was a definite no go area. These days its better
Hey Martin. Yes you can walk to Morrisons, but from Trinity Street it would be uphill, so you're best to drive it. Simple enough - Trinity Street, Thorndike Way (A631) and then Heapham Road
You stated the church had been finished being built in 1748, but all of the articles I've read stated, 1744. Did you read yours from an article, or did you ask someone in the church? (All Saints)
Dates are never consistent in published print. Considering this is the mid 1700s we're talking about, there could well be a lot of guesswork going on. They weren't as hot on recording stuff back then as we are today

Brilliant Andy loved watching it

Glad you enjoyed it! It was kind of a sad day when they knocked Middies down. My bus used to pass it
@@TheVillageIdiot I felt really sad when I heard it had been demolished apparently a soon to be built housing estate 😕

I think you would've been fine filming in Marshalls Yard.
Technically private property. From a legal standpoint, you do need permission. Given what happened with Westwood Cross in Broadstairs & Peters, I wasn't prepared to chance it
Although it is technically private land it is publicly accessible so filming isn’t a problem.
Not watched yet but nice to see Gainsborough Trinity F.C....I like my non league football
Awesome!! Non league should be covered way more!
