    Damn talk about knowledge is POWER. This why I cherish people and the net! In a few seconds someone was kind to share what they know about collaging to me and others. Blessings. Lets all share positive things we know. THANK YOU (10:18)

    So glad I found this tutorial. I have been experimenting with collage and recently started looking up videos to learn some new techniques. I was kind of frustrated that most didn’t go into detail about the materials used and your video was very thorough which is much appreciated. Well done!

    I have a box that I made a little diorama in (Alice In Wonderland themed with some Beatles refs thrown in. It's for my friend who I have a crush on and she likes the Beatles and Rabbits and Alice in Wonderland, so I incorporated that into the diorama. However, I didn't know how to decorate the outside (I don't have paints) but then a friends suggested a collage. So, I spent hrs searching for pictures she would like (most based off movies or bands she likes) and now I'm here to learn how to put them all together.

    I just have one question, how do you paste the transfered areas to paper, so that the glue won´t ruin the transparecy?

    • @craftyblock7519
      @craftyblock7519 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mod podge!
      Mod podge is a clear glue and varnish that sticks and leaves your image transparent! You can use it on multiple of surfaces :) but like she said, make sure not to use a unnecessary amount or your paper will buckle :) to use all you do is take your mod podge and glue your collage down and then go over it with a thin coating of mod podge directly over your collage to seal, do not worry about your image disappearing. After the glue is dried your image will be visible! TIP:
      If you don’t have access to mod podge a good alternative diy is to mix 10 tbs of PVA glue (school glue) with 2 and 1/2 tbs of water together and use it :)

    What’s a good way to get the full quality of your college on to the computer? Flatbed scanners or just taking a picture of your finished product ?

    • @MrOtterArtStudio
      @MrOtterArtStudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find that scanners are the clearest but if your collage is very layered you may still get some shadows on a scanner, in that case, a camera and daylight is the best tools

    The best adhesive to use is hands down Acrylic Medium. Not glue. Glue has too much water in it and causes buckling. Acrylic medium not only adhears permanently bit it also protects your vintage papers from yellowing and also your magazine cut outside from fading.

    Thank you for sharing your technic with packing tape transfer. How do you finish it? Adding a layer of packing tape on top of everything? How do you remove the bubbles?

    • @MrOtterArtStudio
      @MrOtterArtStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t add anything over the top, I just use the little bit of tackiness left in the tape. The bubbles need to be out when it is applied to the image, you can use a bone folder or ruler to press it flat

    I've been trying to learn how to create a good composition ever since my brain injury; thank you for your tips but I don't know if I can do them: I think the bit of brain that did this is one of the areas which are damaged now, but I do the best I can! I've never seen this clear packing tape in the UK (only Sellotape is clear but much narrower): it's always brown; and in the UK 'masking tape' isn't like that at all (you used both terms): it's beige and not as wide as what you used here.

      @@mariarascon5031 Yes, thanks, but with brain injury we forget what we've learned so have to repeat more often = exhausting & VERY demotivating often = UNLESS we have enough small successes (that WE count as 'successes', not others' opinions) as 'rewards', otherwise it's an endless slog.

    • @MrOtterArtStudio
      @MrOtterArtStudio  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have used watercolor paper, newsprint, and wood. The transparency usually has enough sticky residue left in the back the it will hold it to the surface. A glue stick would also work as well as one more piece of packing tape

    After you rub the paper off the back of the packing tape, doesn't the tape lose its stickiness? If so, what's the best glue to use to make it stick again? And if you have clear areas, won't the glue show?

    • @MrOtterArtStudio
      @MrOtterArtStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I have used this technique the tape stayed sticky, you could use any clear glue, even a glue stick would be enough to hold it there and it should dry clear.
