I can't put into words how much I'm loving these episodes. So excited for my first BYU in late April here in BC, Canada. And the outtakes are beyond hilarious.
Thanks! We’re really excited for your first backyard ultra!
That means a lot!@@HarveyandKelly
Furiously taking notes for my first BYU in March. Riverhead backyard relaps in Auckland NZ. Thanks Harvey- legend!!
Go get it!
Poop Loop! I’ll be running Babbitt’s backyard ultra September 28th for the second time. Thank you for the tips!
Thank you very very much! It's my new hobby I started last year. I'm 53 and ya'll are the best
Awesome!
Thanks for the tips. I did my first BYU yesterday and tapped out after 70 miles or 17 laps! My quads were completely destroyed, will be training lots more hills in the future and practice running fast downhill.
Nice work!
Awesome 👏👏👏
Loved the outtakes. 😂
These are awesome. I think it would be fine though to just let it run, warts n all. I really want to try a Backyard Ultra, and hope to get more inside info from yall, so please keep em comin.
Hey guys! Love this new format!
I’m a race director for Flag City Backyard ultra in Findlay Ohio. We get a lot of questions about how to setup your watch for a Backyard Ultra. I have my own setup but I know a lot of other runners do it differently. Eg intervals or laps. Do you swap watches, charge along the way or use something with a large battery.
Would love to hear about your setup!
Looking forward to see Harvey make 18 at Barkley!
Hello! Thanks for following and that is a great question! We’ll definitely include that info on a video! Thanks!
Thank you both so much, and you guys are really great! There were so many good tips for the backyard ultra and running and the outtakes are hilarious! Can we have a video of outtakes only too? 😀
Great! Glad you found some value! Haha…..that’s a funny thought about the outtakes 😂
Super humble Harvey is a beast!!
Thank you so much for these videos, you guys, they're awesome, outtakes and all. Signed up for my first Backyard a while ago, and it's in a week's time, and I don't feel ready at all, and I'm completely panicking :D but listening to Harvey in podcasts and discovering this YT channel just turns all that fear into joy and excitement.
Yes! We love to hear that! Definitely find the joy and camaraderie in the event first and foremost. Go get it!
I love the outtakes too! Haha ❤ These videos are never too long - thank you for taking the time to make them 😍
Thank you very much! We truly appreciate the support!
Really enjoyed this video, watched it awhile back and got to run with Harvey at Great Seal, Feb 10th, with a large group of IRC runners. He motivated me to sign up for my first backyard ultra, #OBU. I got 2 other friends to join me as we ran a lot of miles in January for the #SEOTR Winter Challenge. I ran 75 miles. My longest race prior was a 50K trail race. I really enjoyed all of the helpful OBU advice from Harvey on the run. Still working on my spirit animal.
Yes, congrats at OBU!
I loved this video. I've never done a backyard but think it would be a dope experience! The poop loop bit was epic haha.
I'm so glad I found your channel! Loved hearing you both share on Rich Roll's YT channel! Thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you 🙏 Much appreciated!
Love this channel. What a privilege, to hear it straight from the goat! 😊 Minor editing error around 3 mins (audio).
Thanks for the feedback! It’s been fun documenting this stuff! We’re definitely beginners at editing but it’s fun learning new things!
This video is GOLDEN ❤ Doing a backyard next weekend 🤭
Awesome! Go get it!
100 miles, 24 loops.. bring on the next one ❤@@HarveyandKelly
I watched big's live stream for some hours. Honestly, I didn't think you would win until loop 105. The live stream will not give you the whole picture, but then Ihor suddenly looked almost done. Nice to see, that you choosed a picture with him. Hopefully your channel will grow fast.
Grab... the other... dog!! 😂😂 Dogs make everything better! But this was still a fantastic video. Just found your channel, looking forward to learning from you, and laughing with you!
I find that the POOP LOOP usually kicks in around a mile into the yard. This leaves no option but to floor it and get back to camp!!!
Right? Like it’s not always a planned thing!?
What brand socks/shoes did he mention? Looking to get into some compression socks for my longer efforts.
Newton Gravity for the shoes and 2XU compression is unlike no other! Thanks for following!
What does Harvey think of the Jeerleaders at Bigs Back Yard?
“I think that’s the first time I’ve been asked that! They are great, very enthusiastic and they add to the drama!”
What was the name of the compression socks that you mentioned?
2XU Compression Flight Socks. The best!

I think going nr 2 is the most stressful. When will it happen? I try to go before it's urgent... Don't wanna run with the runs 😊
You have to time it just right 😜
I think our local byu puts the poopstations away from the course... But I'm gonna check next time and maybe try your tip of going right at the start of a lap 😆
