Off-road dirt bikes come choked from the factory, in this video we gonna talk about the ways to open them up and get full potential of your dirt bike. I am working on WR450 explaining free mods and jetting. Doing following things will get you uncorked yamaha wr450 or wr250 which will feel very similar to YZ450f.

I ran the grey wire to a switch on the bars.
If I need it,it's there.
If I don't...the little blue light stays on.
Great for low and slow timing.
WR series are hardcore enduro bike..despite the model its still shine and run smoth,specially with nice graphic and some mods..

cool Mark, glad you find it helpful. Your bike backfires and runs rough.. clean the carb could be dirty pilot jet, maybe its too lean. Get JD kit for the bike, its runs great .
Dirt N Iron the carb is new, just ordered the JD kit today, hoping it fixes the backfiring, has FMF muffler, about to do air-box mod...grey wire and throttle stop finished today.

Hey Dirt'n Iron, thanks for explaining these mods! For anyone wondering, these mods are applicable on the *older* model WR's. From 2015 onwards the WR250F engine is based on the YZ engine, and one of the best mods I've heard is to replace the ECU with a new programmable one from GTYR and change out the throttle stop screw. This apparently will really open up the WR !

yes for fuel injection the best is to get new ECU thats somewhat equivalent to good jetting. I am wearing L

JD jetting will make a big difference, plus slip on and free mods and you are set
I went from an old YZ250 to a brand new WR450 and I hated it! Then I did the grey wire mod along with a White bros slipon and the airbox cut out mod and now its a beast. Scary fast! I didn't even need to rejet seeing as these run rich from the factory. I hear you can also use the YZ450 exhaust cam to give more power too. Has anyone done that yet?

yes Nir, air box mod, exhaust and throttle stop apply to EFI models as well

Hi I’ve lost a rubber pipe of the top of a metal pipe on the side of the engine on my wr450f it now blows air out of it and sounds as though there is no exhaust on it could you please tell me what it is thanks

Me got me an 03 all I did was change the standard pipe and cut out the air box , good enough for me , awsome machine👍
When you're doing the mods go a little more in-depth on the O-ring mod around the accelerator pump also could you put a link to that exact jet kit I need it for my 04 WR thank you

Would these modifications go for the 2012 wr450f dirtbike? Asking this cause you mentioned carberator but mine is fuel injected. Thanks any feedback appreciated
no, you need gytr ECU for 2012 and newer, you can remove throttle stop and open up the airbox but there is no grey wire or carb tuning mod

I have wr 450 2004, with 48 pilot and my idle screw wants around 3 turns out, the pilot is already big, when on idle i push hotstart to see how good it revs but its not as strong as it should, what i can i do? Needle and main dont have much effect for idle, i still have snorkel in airbox if i take it out it will be even leaner than now
yes the snorkel will allow more air in, hence leaner mixture. I would make sure that pilot circuit is clean, I had that happen before, my pilot jet was little dirty and the bike was running lean bc of that. Next try to raise the needle one clip, it will let more fuel in and it will become little richer. Also dont forget that cold humid air (winter air) is causing our bikes to run leaner
You really need to say what year the bike is and what years these things apply to.
mine is 2004, these things apply to all years. Majority of years come with AIS system which I dont have on mine, GYTR is selling removal kit for around $150. EFI bikes also have most of these restrictions. There is plenty of details online. hope that helps

do some research, find out if wr has the same stator, if not get the one from wr it should be same fit but high output
iv done it its 01 wr250f and with some mods ,anyways il figure it out,believe me im not the no research type im the one verify everything with research and experience and fact type.anyways back to reading on stators and circuits!i will make my own damn stator if i have to have done half on stators and ignition cdi reading already etc .yz side cover is thinner as well!anyways bro awesome sounding these yz and wr uncorkedand tuned.
i have question for you. i have heard that fuel filter is not recommendet on carburetor engine - because when you have full tank - pressure good and everythink good, but when you have 1\4 or about it fuel tank amount - not enought pressure for carburatore and engine start strangling. Is it true - do you have this filter on your own wr450 ? Thank you.

yes I think so, all carbureted WRs
I thought removing the baffle of an exhaust made it louder but reduces backpressure, lowing power slightly? maybe I am wrong?
it was chocking the engine, it breathes and runs better with open exhaust

yea you can do that, no jets there. Those carbs run really well, I got lectron on my ktm 300

Just in case anyone else reads this, I would stay away from the lectron for a 4 stroke as there is no accelerator pump, they are more intended for 2 stroke applications. The FCR carb is a great carb once properly jetted.
Do you have kids sizes? Or can I buy an iron on for a kids shirt? I just picked up a suzuki jr 50 for my kids and they LOVE to ride, especially my youngest. One of his first words was "ride".

Yah. As well as the gear box. Too bad the last owner didnt know about that. I changed the trans oil when I brought it home and it SHOULD have had 450 ml of oil but when we drained it there may have been a few tablespoons at most.
Xterrential that's pretty silly!! Had one in at work on Friday, to fix. The owner hasn't been mixing oil in the oil tank. He'd been running it for 4 years on just petrol, cos he didn't even know it was a 2 stroke. Haha.
That is a true testament to the durability of japanese engines.

Don't 'California' my bike to start with. In Australia we don't get all that restriction junk.

My bike came with these so called good mods, my bike runs great now after I closed up the air box. opening up the air box makes your bike run too lean. If you are an expert at carbs and have a lot of time and money open the air box. If you are an average guy ans want more power do everything this guy says but DON'T cut the air box!!!
cut the airbox and jet your carb, you dont need to be an expert. get JD jetting kit for $80 and follow my video, its simple and the gains are great.. you can do it without the JD kit too, just go with bigger pilot and main jets, jetting is not that difficult even for average guy.. trust me

some of them you can.. do some research first.. 2001 was one of first years i think so something could be different
