Stayler17 I'm going again sunday hahah. It's just too good to see once in the cinema. Also episode 8 won't come out untill may 2017 so that's a long wait, man
So good, just got home from seeing it. I live in the UK, we don't applaud watching films and being someone who goes the cinema almost on a weekly basis, this was the first time I've ever heard people applauding the film once the end credits rolled up. I loved the film. My favourite is Empire followed by ANH. This film is either third or quite possibly level with ANH.
You can see the passion JJ Abrams has for cinema, it oozes out of him. He is an incredible filmmaker and risk taker. You can only admire the courage he has in taking on this huge challenge. He has done a great job in setting up the franchise. I love listening to him talk about storytelling. I didn't enjoy the movie as much as other people, including the critics. It seems like a progressive remake of the first Star Wars. Made in a Spielberg type manner. I wouldn't put the movie in my top 10 for the year, but wouldn't say it was a disaster either. I felt the movie was lacking in any deep substance and maybe star wars isn't as relevant today as it was back then. Having said that, I am glad that the movie has been a huge success and that the majority of people have enjoyed it.
*NO SPOILERS* I have to say, this film did exactly what it was supposed to do. I wanted more, but it fulfilled my expectations and even exceeded them in some points. I am very satisfied with what I just watched and couldn't help yelling "Great now I have to wait two years!" at the end.
It is interesting to watch this. For this movie Ridley & Boyega are not taking the forefront of the questions. By the next movie they will be the centre of all the discussion. Also the fabric strand sticking up from Ridley's shoulder speaks of where she is starting from. By the next movie her wardrobe will be perfect. Nice to appreciate people starting out right now, as they are starting out.
+Matías Durán Ok, Here I go: Starkiller Base - Deathstar Rey - Luke Skywalker Old Han - Old Obi-Wan Kylo Ren - Darth Vader Snoke - Emperor Attack on Starkillerbase - Attack on Death Star Captain Phasma - Boba Fett Honestly the only super different thing in this movie was Finn. He was awesome.
SPOILER ALERT!!! Han Solos son is kylo ren, Luke sky walker appears at the very end the film for only 20 seconds then movie finishes, this means there will be a part 8 to the Star Wars trilogy, kylo ren kills Han Solo, black guy betrays the first order and helps the "resistance" (good guys), FYI I went to the midnight screening at 12:01 am, one word: Masterpiece Have a nice day :)
SPOILER ALERT Princess Leia is back in the movie, new Sith Lord called the "supreme leader", R2 D2 and c3po is also in the movie, chewbacca is back as well, daisy is the chosen one meaning she is a Jedi. :)
I don't know why, but Kathleen Kennedy reminds me to Rick Mcallum in some sort. By the way I love this video... it's so dense! every single second has so much going on. I think It's stylistically designed to be that way; you can't undo that... so it's confirmed... *J. J. It's the key to all this.*
Awesome movie. Not gonna say much more, it's amazing. One thing I felt was "meh" was the soundtrack. Maybe it's because we're so used to the original themes that we don't notice the new one, but I felt it was kinda underwhelming. The end track was beautiful, and the final fight one was chilling, but other than that, eh.
Why is there such an aggressive undertone to this whole conversation? They talk of "the things George got right" and how a creative group with a higher female headcount "helps bring out the human side of a story". I'm assuming Lucas got most things wrong and that men can't create human stories. Don't get me wrong, I'm no bigot, but this is ridiculous. The female percentage in a creative group should be irrelevant, it's not supposed to be an activist group for egalitarianism. If someone's input is constructive to the creative team he or she is in, regardless of gender, and if not he or she is out. Don't try to 'populate' creative teams to solve gender inequality.
+Gato Negro Reason why they talked about it is because nobody does, not to mention it being such a huge movie. Not trying to sound condescending but I doubt you'll understand why, not logically. But really why.
+Gato Negro "Why is there such an aggressive undertone to this whole conversation?" Feminism, unfortunately. They make problems where there aren't any and actually add bigotry into the whole thing where before there wasn't any.
Love JJ's passion for both Star Wars and film making, still haven't seen the Force Awakens, but I know he was the perfect choice. Nolan, and Spielberg for Episode 8 & 9!
+TheMellowPumpkin *sigh* Originals = GODLIKE Prequels = TOO DIFFRENT OMG TFA = OMG ITS TEH SAME It's not. The main thread of the story is similar, but the storytelling is different.
+TheMellowPumpkin Personally, I liked the way they connected old to new. It was very much like ANH but also had a lot of new and unique characteristics. And now we're all ready for the new generation, and the next episodes. :)
i hated episode1 except darth maul scene... i think the story in ep 2 was good and episode 3 for me, especially after 2nd half of the movie is best in the prequels. Soundtrack of episode 2 and 3 is best in my opinion too
+Timeyful episode 2 had its ups and downs. The romance between anakin and Padame was rushed and kinda creepy. I would have rather seen the things anakin and obi wan were talking about in the elevator than just hearing about it. I enjoyed Christopher lee as count dooku, though his character felt like a place holder for someone. *cough cough* darth jar jar *cough cough* I don't believe yoda needed a light saber. That seemed a bit off, but it was still fun to watch. Haha and why take the kid of the guy who claims your his half brother after he brought your step moms dead body into the house....that seemed a little forced to me too. But if there's one thing that the prequels did right, it's ewan macgregor as obi wan. He emulated Alec Guinness perfectly while adding his own bit of flair to the part. Sorry for such a long comment/ review... Haha
Ok I love Gwen and think she is AWESOME. But she always strolls out her social justice shtick every time. Be a person Gwen. Relax, have fun. You don't have to fight for everyone's right every time you open your mouth. It's exhausting and just wears most people down. I mean I know I could easily kill an hour with John, Daisy, or JJ... But being around Gwen would intimidate me. I don't have my social warrior hat on 24/7.
I loved the movie Like REALLY LOVED IT 9.5 out of 10 stars but one of the best things was the story the story in force awakens deserves a award FOR SURE LOVED FORCE AWAKENS LOVED IT
+Who Dat Ninja SPOILER AHEAD!! Yeah, what did they really do to her, they say they would dump her in the garbageshredder but in the next scene they are just with the 3 of them , you don't really see what happens to her. I kind of didn't like her, for some reason I don't feel like stormtroopers should be women. Not being sexist here, just my opinion.
+Joseph Haynes You are aware that there is more than one movie, right? We all know from her interviews that she won't have a large role in the first new film. That's not news.
+Joseph Haynes It's actually a good move as it avoided the mistakes by the prequels in putting too many characters and plot points in one movie. I'm sure she will get a bigger role in the next movie.
+Joseph Haynes I can't wait for the next movie what she can do! Finn vs Captain Phasma in the next movie would be awesome! I'd imagine Finn would have upped his skills by then.
SPOILERS: When Daisy's talking about Matilda and how she can tip water over with her mind, I could just images JJ panicking, hoping that she doesn't let anything out about Rey being a force user :D
rip the last question the girl in the red hat was gonna ask before daisy added to the last question which really made an entrance for john to give his take on movie realism
The host should mention some of JJ's acomplishments instead of skipping over him in the introduction. Without him, we wouldn't have The Force Awakens, just saying
I was one of the first to watch it :) ratings are 9.5-9.8 and I personally believe it was the best movie I've ever seen, including the best Star Wars I've ever watched (coming from a Prequels fan)
+Xplosive Baggins I full heartedly agree. The emotions were high in this movie! Brought back some wonderful memories, around 300 friends and I booked out an entire cinema room. I'm looking forward to the future of Star Wars !
Daisy and John are legit the coolest people ever.
right!
I just saw the movie.
Deffinitely lived up to expecatations!
Go see it now, before you read any spoilers!
ben
+Niek67 So good! God i wanna watch it again.
Stayler17 I'm going again sunday hahah.
It's just too good to see once in the cinema.
Also episode 8 won't come out untill may 2017 so that's a long wait, man
Hey dude, don't spoil me anything, but does luke skywalker apears in the movie?
Ivan Gonzalez yes
Daisy looks so good
Ikr
I love that everybody applauded a LOT for Daisy ❤🥺, I love her so much!!
+Deadpool I agree such a rare occurrence that people applaud a film. People did that too in the theater I watched in. You just know this film is gold!
And don't forget the wonderful cheering when the title popped up and the fanfare began! I had chills the whole time.
+Lupercal06 I expected cheering but the audience in my cinema sucked, there was like no reaction
Daisy Ridley😍❤️
I really wish JJ was directing the next one.
+Joshua Walters The new director's really good too
+Joshua Walters he's still an executive producer so he'll be involved in the next two, don't worry
Isn't he directing Star Wars 8 but not Star Wars: Rouge One??
+NoxticPlayz Nope episode 8 is being directed by rian Johnson I believe and episode 9 by the Jurassic world director
+Primus 23 Jurassic World..... *throws up*
Daisy Ridley saying that Mathilda inspired her makes me unexplicably happy!
JJ's impression of a tie fighter was mesmerising.
Having seen the film now, Daisy unintentionally gave a HUGE hint about her character with the Matilda reference.
It was a spoiler :/
WowThatsOrignal matilda was using her telekinesis (or something like that). but if your a jedi, you use the...?
I also gotta say, this is such amazing storytelling advice. JJ is the definition of creative.
Having said that, I am glad that the movie has been a huge success and that the majority of people have enjoyed it.
I'm gonna see The Force Awakens on Friday night
*NO SPOILERS* I have to say, this film did exactly what it was supposed to do. I wanted more, but it fulfilled my expectations and even exceeded them in some points. I am very satisfied with what I just watched and couldn't help yelling "Great now I have to wait two years!" at the end.
same feeling i had! i will watch it again in 3 days xD watching this film once isnt enough
I saw the movie to day it was awesome
Where do you live, here in Chicago it comes out the 18th
is it your favorite?
+Sander Meby Hernes yea saw it too, there are such big spoilers
+Sander Meby Hernes Did it have an opening crawl and space scene in the beginning?
Yeass, same music as the originals and then the camara going from the stars to the start of the movie
Daisy Ridley is smart enough to know not to suppress your inner child
John Boyega with the casual over 9000 joke that flies over everybody's head.
Is it weird that every time they say JJ's name I think of Good Times?
not weird. I didn't think that but now I'm reminded of it
I saw the movie. It is epic!!!!
+Michael van Heelsbergen he probably isn't but we can't be sure yet. Luke exiled himself because his student kylo ren fell to dark side.
I did just see the movie, and it's amazing
10/10
cliff hanger at the end?
+Luke Rupprecht yeah, a real good one as well, in my opinion, it is the best star wars movie yet!
awesome! I have tickets for Sunday ever day but Sunday was sold out I'm so hyped!!!!
+Luke Rupprecht It sets up the next movie very good and I want to see it like now
4 words: bridge, pit, trash compactor
The Power of Storytelling...this video hasn't aged well.
you can say that again
you can say that again
daisy my queen mwaaaaa
But why did you have to make A New Hope again? Like Jurassic World, they made the same movie with a few differences.
+Matías Durán Ok, Here I go:
Starkiller Base - Deathstar
Rey - Luke Skywalker
Old Han - Old Obi-Wan
Kylo Ren - Darth Vader
Snoke - Emperor
Attack on Starkillerbase - Attack on Death Star
Captain Phasma - Boba Fett
Honestly the only super different thing in this movie was Finn. He was awesome.
+Matías Durán the 2nd act was pretty different. The 3rd act though... geez
I respect your opinion, but did you watched the movie?
Ivan Gonzalez Ofcourse he did. That is why is is comparing it to A New Hope
+SharksFartingOutLasers Well that answers my question.
SPOILER ALERT!!!
Han Solos son is kylo ren, Luke sky walker appears at the very end the film for only 20 seconds then movie finishes, this means there will be a part 8 to the Star Wars trilogy, kylo ren kills Han Solo, black guy betrays the first order and helps the "resistance" (good guys), FYI I went to the midnight screening at 12:01 am, one word: Masterpiece
Have a nice day :)
SPOILER ALERT
Princess Leia is back in the movie, new Sith Lord called the "supreme leader", R2 D2 and c3po is also in the movie, chewbacca is back as well, daisy is the chosen one meaning she is a Jedi. :)
+sinan mese So, Snoke is a Sith, that made me happy, can you spoil me a little more? How many time does Snoke appear?
+Darth Imperius about 3/4 times when he is talking to Ren
I meant minutes 20, 30...?
All together not very long about 10 minutes if that
Too bad Captain Phasma only have like 2 minutes of screen time :-(
and.....in trash compactor:-/
+YOLO JOE I have a feeling that as each character evolves into what there to become ( both ren) rey, finn etc we will see more of her
I don't know why, but Kathleen Kennedy reminds me to Rick Mcallum in some sort.
By the way I love this video... it's so dense! every single second has so much going on. I think It's stylistically designed to be that way; you can't undo that... so it's confirmed... *J. J. It's the key to all this.*
+Francisco Arcos i love this whole comment
***** It's gonna be great!!
+Francisco Arcos That's gonna be great!
+Francisco Arcos Gungans! I thought they were called gungas!
+Francisco Arcos Its ganna be great!
John Boyega with that subtle Over 9000 reference.
Also, I forgot Rey's theme, which was great too. Then again she carried the movie, so it's only fair!
+Lupercal06 yea i think only weakside was soundtrack but still great movie
Yeah it was good, but I'm so used to the old soundtrack. We'll get used to it, I hope...
+Fabian Pettersson new hope
+Fabian Pettersson im sure there will be more soundtrack thats similar to the old films in the next star wars
i love star wars
me too
me 3
+bob billy me 69
+bob billy me 4
+bob billy 27464
Daisy and John are amazing
Cool I will travel 200 miles to see in a theater cause in The Brasil interior dont have theaters near from me , thats my best holidays for years
J.J. Abrams highlights -
13:22 - "Huge Pressure"
20:35 - "R-r-r-r-r-r-r-h-h-h-o-o-o-a-a-a-a"
31:46 - "Delightful"
Why is there such an aggressive undertone to this whole conversation? They talk of "the things George got right" and how a creative group with a higher female headcount "helps bring out the human side of a story". I'm assuming Lucas got most things wrong and that men can't create human stories.

Sorry could you repeat that, but in English
+ObliviousMan what did you not understand?
+Gato Negro Reason why they talked about it is because nobody does, not to mention it being such a huge movie. Not trying to sound condescending but I doubt you'll understand why, not logically. But really why.
+Gato Negro "Why is there such an aggressive undertone to this whole conversation?"
Feminism, unfortunately. They make problems where there aren't any and actually add bigotry into the whole thing where before there wasn't any.
Silver Kisters I am actually very privileged, thanks. I check it every day.
Great information. Really enjoyed this panel.
Omg her smile shessss soooo pretty
Watching it tonight :D
+Sonaint You'll enjoy it :)
Watching it next year
+Spec Ops Films stay away from the internet then
I can't wait to see the 2019 panel!!!
Love JJ's passion for both Star Wars and film making, still haven't seen the Force Awakens, but I know he was the perfect choice. Nolan, and Spielberg for Episode 8 & 9!
Story? You essentially remade Episode IV!!!
Not really...
+Connor Tardis yeah, basically
There are still some new thing like the connection between some people that you may would not have expected.
+TheMellowPumpkin *sigh*
Originals = GODLIKE
Prequels = TOO DIFFRENT OMG
TFA = OMG ITS TEH SAME
It's not. The main thread of the story is similar, but the storytelling is different.
+TheMellowPumpkin Personally, I liked the way they connected old to new. It was very much like ANH but also had a lot of new and unique characteristics. And now we're all ready for the new generation, and the next episodes. :)
Daisy's smile is killing me
JJ described the feeling of star wars perfectly
I joined when it was 1 sec and I wanted to see any trailers
Saw it yesterday. Has flawes but overall a great and fun movie 9/10. Go see it!
Can't wait to watch it
Han Solo dies
+Dorian Emin-Jeong (Midsnowghost) how do u know?
+max danger gamer just watched it in France
.
+max danger gamer he does
I love how when JJ is talking about writing, and he lists the things NOT to do, those are all of the things Lucas did with the prequels. haha
i hated episode1 except darth maul scene... i think the story in ep 2 was good and episode 3 for me, especially after 2nd half of the movie is best in the prequels. Soundtrack of episode 2 and 3 is best in my opinion too

Loved this.
I really like to see this kind of stuff, they are funny and very interesting
Ok I love Gwen and think she is AWESOME. But she always strolls out her social justice shtick every time. Be a person Gwen. Relax, have fun. But being around Gwen would intimidate me. I don't have my social warrior hat on 24/7.
+David Jones Some people are passionate about that kind of thing. I think I'd prefer that more than your aggressively anti-caring shtick.
Agreed. She's going way too SJW with all of this. Mind you if she doesn't Tumblr will destroy her.
What did she even do in the movie?
It's especially ironic given her role in the movie.
You're intimidated?
This is great and all but I was hoping for one more tv spot
I loved the movie Like REALLY LOVED IT 9.5 out of 10 stars but one of the best things was the story the story in force awakens deserves a award FOR SURE LOVED FORCE AWAKENS LOVED IT
There has been an awakening have you felt it
+Kylo Ren Yes but you are a temper tantrum throwing baby
lol
+Kylo Ren how's your arm? Did you put it on ice in time?
Tylord The Great Yeah remember when he was beat up by a GRILL
and where are your guards, ben?
My only wish is to meet the cast of star wars 7.
John Boyega said over 9 thousand hahahahaImSoClever!hahahahaahaha
daisy is so beautiful
I see a double staffed lightsaber in Rey's future :D
Man it would be cool to see the cast
so excited
Why Gwendoline Christie? She's in the movie for like a minute
HOW DARE YOU
It was 2 minutes. 3, tops. She really didn't do anything..
***** Pretty much. :/ Hopefully she'll do something in the next movie.
Niek67 I want to know who the Knights of Ren were. And how he made his badass claymore.
Mmm. Kylo was terrifying and menacing, yet also very human. Very well done.
More of this please
Lol dunno why phasma had so much promotion. Literally had such a small role
+Joseph Haynes *Minor Spoiler*
Phasma got Bobafetted ALIVE
right?! I think it's just because she was in GoT
+Joseph Haynes I can't wait for the next movie what she can do! Finn vs Captain Phasma in the next movie would be awesome! I'd imagine Finn would have upped his skills by then.
i love so much Star Wars
bless your soul and family for saying that braking bad guy
7:20 the Force is strong with her. She can move her hair.
How did that happen?!?!?
I love you, JJ Abrams
SPOILERS:
When Daisy's talking about Matilda and how she can tip water over with her mind, I could just images JJ panicking, hoping that she doesn't let anything out about Rey being a force user :D
rip the last question the girl in the red hat was gonna ask before daisy added to the last question which really made an entrance for john to give his take on movie realism
Some people have been saying that Jar jar is a sith please put this to rest help me star wars you're my only hope
Storytelling/creative people in the comment section, what are you working on currently?
Thank you boyega for that dbz reference
The host should mention some of JJ's acomplishments instead of skipping over him in the introduction. Without him, we wouldn't have The Force Awakens, just saying
best story possible; I liked it so much because of its vintage style; did the emperor die for real in ep 6 or is he the huge alien like figure?
3:09 Darth maul getting ready to slay out jedi
Why did .... die? :( I was so sad
16:41 Over 9000!!!
HEY! ISNT THE SECOND PERSON THAT ASKED A QUESTION IS A VINER??!
I really want J J to do the others he did so good I have a felling that the other directors r not gonna do as gd of a job as J J
I love it when people interview actors and ask them how the go about creating characters. Um it's called having a writer.
16:10. Gwendoline Christie giving John the eyes of death...
man I would love to work on a star wars film
Cool music at the beginning. What is it?
31:50 My favorite part , by far. :-)
27:05 JJ sounds like he's talking to 90's Lucas
What's the name of the planet that was destroyed in TFA?
the starkiller base destroyed correllia and 2 other planets if i know right
It destroyed Hosnian Prime, the location of the New Republic's capital.
20:54 LMAO spot on!
The movie was fantastic!
Gwendoline must've been like: "Hey! I'm getting all of this attention for being a background character!" :P
I think Snoke is Darth Plaugus
they won't do that because its from the prequels and they're not going to have a huge reveal like that be from the movies they clearly dislike
I think that's a great possibility
Agree
YES!
is darht plagues in the movie?
Boyegas answer at the very made him....the man
The force if strong with Moses..Ninja he is
Do you make next two episode?
Why JJ is not directing next episodes?
+koczy666 because he is going to direct the new star trek film and maybe he has some other project so he can't do episode IX too
Are there any spoilers in the video?
No but there is in the comments!!!!
there was storytelling in force awakens? I thought they ripped off episode IV... :/
J. J. Abrams, please don't turn into Jar Jar Abrams...
More likely not its been reviewed haven't watch but heard of score it was 9.8 idk anything so yea
I was one of the first to watch it :) ratings are 9.5-9.8 and I personally believe it was the best movie I've ever seen, including the best Star Wars I've ever watched (coming from a Prequels fan)
+PATOOFA You haven't seen the movie I asume? ;)
+IIIega Agreed. I do believe.. it beats Empire Strikes Back. A bold claim, but a true one.
+Xplosive Baggins I full heartedly agree. The emotions were high in this movie! Brought back some wonderful memories, around 300 friends and I booked out an entire cinema room. I'm looking forward to the future of Star Wars !
Dailey Ridley has huge teeth! Cute tho
J. J. Abrams: "It brought a feeling of unlimited.. POOWWWEEERRRRRR"
Star Wars 7 was great!!!
um I'd like to rate this movie 100/10 because it's amazing
