      +Haftor Smari yeah, a lot of actors do...it was kinda unfair what people were commenting on Adam Driver in the Comicon full panel vid. He's just kind of a shy guy and gets nervous! I didn't think he was being an asshole...I mean, Holy Shit I'd be kinda flippin out too, if I was a fairly new actor and got cast to play a major role in STAR WARS TFA!

    • @Joellllllllll

      +Haftor Smari he's doing a one-on-one interview! I don't see how that is intimidating since it's not in front of a group. Also I think he's just older and laid back. Doesn't mean he isn't a nice guy.

      +otdoud The same thing he said in comic con. I can't remember the direct quote, but it goes something like ,,Just because a scene is on the Millennium Falcon doesn't make it good. Of course, it's fantastic to have an opportunity to shoot on the Millennium Falcon, everyone who has the opportunity should try it, but it's not what makes the scene good. +DazReht Frankly, I don't either re: who shot first. Does it really matter?

    • @l8on99
      @l8on99 8 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      +Zay Jay No, not really. He just does not care about the people who make it all out to be real and ask him things that never happened or are not in the script or the feature film. Like say, "What would Han Solo do if he flew to Earth?" Who cares.
      I asked another "movie star" friend of mine one day if he thought his latest film(The Sum of All Fears) was going to be a success and he replied, "If the cheque cashes then it is a success". See these people are just like you and me, they just want to provide a good life for their families really and that is the truth.
      Listen to Ford talk and you will know his main focus is his kids and his wife, that is what he really cares about it's just these people are in the spotlight and we make such a big deal about them when they are just normal people doing their job, really.

    • @al112v4

      mrjoanofarc Maybe I'm reading too much into it but I get the feeling that Star Wars is just another job to her & that she has little interest in it. Compared to most of the other cast members who you can tell are huge fans of the franchise, as well as it being a job of course. But they at least show great enthusiasm whereas I really don't see it out of Lupita. In the end it really doesn't matter though, as long as she's a good actress & everything turns out great, it's whatever. You know?

    Excellent interviews, K McCarthy. Even the actors seem to respond to your enthusiasm (even Harrison Ford, and that's saying something). J.J. Abrams going old school with the production is proof that he absolutely understands the magic that is the original Star Wars and was absolutely the right choice in breathing new life into this franchise.

      Arber Avdija oh really? That's cool I didn't know ! I still think they made their own though... I just don't see a multi-billionnaire industry buy their lightsabers from Ultrasabers when they have more than enough resources to make them according to their own needs (like they did with all the previous Star Wars movies). They make chrome-plated rubber versions and even foam ones for stunts! But honestly, on another note: it would be such a dream job to work with those guys behind the scenes and build the props! ^^

    • @GrimskullOfficial
      @GrimskullOfficial 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      +Kyle Mikesell In a way. We were EXTREMELY excited, but also very curious. Because we realized after the first trailer that it was gonna be something different. No familiar faces, and almost no familiar characters. I think everybody was hyped about finally seeing the backstory, Darth Maul and seeing a young Obi Wan. But it wasn't trailer after trailer, image after image, that made us totally flip out like we do now. And the nostalgia factor was much lower. So I personally don't think people were was pumped as they are now. But it was definitely a huge event.

    • @Evelina_412
      @Evelina_412 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Skullkiller79 I might add that this time, people are much more hyped because of how good it looks. The ,,Omg, it's not like the prequels, it's gonna be good, we're going to get a good Star Wars movie, they won't disappoint us again!'' factor plays a big role. They even released the what I like to call ,,This won't be like the prequels'' video. You know, the one that starts with ,,Real sets... Practical effects...''

    • @les4767
      @les4767 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kyle Mikesell Yes, and no. Yes, there was a lot of excitement to see a new Star Wars film. However, after the general disappointment in the prequels, I believe the current hype is much greater since:
      A. Lucas isn't involved in the production, story or decisions(No, God Awful characters like Jar Jar Binks, Boss Nass, Watto or Sebulba, or God Awful dialogue for love scenes, or miscast roles like Jake Lloyd, Natalie Portman or Ahmed Best)
      B. Lawrence Kasdan wrote the script(He wrote "The Empire Strikes Back")
      C. JJ Abrams is at the helm and he's respecting the original trilogy in his approach to doing a Star Wars film: fewer CGI effects and practical makeup on creatures.
      D. Original trio characters, Luke Skywalker, Leia and Han Solo are back along with Chewbacca, R2-D2 and C-3PO
      E. New stars look amazing and interesting.
      F. The trailers have peaked interest without giving away the complete story through spoilers.
      G. Disney is producing it, and their track record with new properties is damned good(See Marvel Productions).
      I can see this film bursting the box office records faster than any other film in history. If the film's as good as I hope, it may be the first film to break 2 billion, my friend. Peace.

    0:20 - You'd think that if this guy was such a "nerd about film making" he would know that the Prequels used practical sets and shot in real locations, The Phantom Menace had more miniatures than the entire Original Trilogy. Revenge of the Sith had 102 model makers, A New Hope had 7. Abrams is not "brining it back", it has always been that way.

    • @NotKeithSilva
      @NotKeithSilva 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +the tourist Yes, JJ also indirectly disses the Prequels on occasion. I would think he, too, would be more knowledgeable about the practical ways in which the Prequels were produced. The information is in books and online, it's not hard to find.

    • @NotKeithSilva
      @NotKeithSilva 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +the tourist Most of those green screens were replaced by miniatures which are still real lit sets. I hear a lot about this "overuse" of CGI by people who weren't there. You could say that the OT had an "overuse" of matte paintings. It's not what hurt the prequels. If the writing was better, and Lucas had more restraint in certain moments, no one would care about how much CG was used.

    • @NotKeithSilva
      @NotKeithSilva 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +the tourist Yes, I am aware of McCallums quote and I am aware that the only shot in The Phantom Menace not containing a digital effect is the gas ventilation shot in the Federation diplomacy room. A digital effect can range from the entire shot to nothing but the glow of a lightsaber blade in the corner. But that is all beside the point.
      To go back to my original point: There is a narrative being spun by The Force Awakens press campaign that essentially says 'The Original Trilogy was all practical effects, the lame Prequel Trilogy was all CG, so we made this movie like the originals by using real sets and practical effects.' It goes completely against the facts.

    • @NotKeithSilva
      @NotKeithSilva 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +the tourist Side note: I always hear people say the Prequels are clean or shiny. Are they talking about Naboo starships or just (at the time groundbreaking) CG textures? Cause I never understood how Tatooine, Geonosis, Utapau or Mustafar looked clean...

    • @NotKeithSilva
      @NotKeithSilva 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +the tourist Don't get me wrong, let me clarify, the prequels look very different than the Original Trilogy. I completely agree, I just don't see it as a bad thing. I still think the visuals are convincing and immersive. There are certain shots that look dated 10-16 years later, but even now (and especially at the time) I've never been taken out of the movie by a lack of quality effects. Especially not any more than the watching the Original Trilogy (non-SE).. some of those shots dated terribly, and worse than anything in the prequels. There are shots that I thought were CG for years, then I went back and researched to find out they were models or real sets. Also isn't Coruscant supposed to be shiny? I think the work done on the prequels does deserve respect, which is my whole point and why Lucasfilm should be inclusive of it.
      BTW, loved your rough course and irritating reference, nicely done =)

    this guy is probably one of the best star wars 7 interviewers ever. he asked questions I wanted to hear and I felt like i was geeky out with him. no generic zzzz questions.

    Wow, that was painful to sit through for me, Gods only knows what it was like for those poor sods. Who the hell thought this guy was capable of holding an interview together without geeking out?
    "I'm not going to ask you a question about who shot first, as you must get asked that question a million times, but I DO have a question about that..."
    *eyeroll* Bloody awful.

      I loved his enthusiasm, it's better than having someone who barley cared about the movies and just asking mindless questions.

    It's funny watching how disinterested Harrison is in this interview, being interviewed by this nerd.

    it's so nice to actually see an interviewer who is a huge fan and knows what he's actually talking about. it's amazing and made me so happy that a huge star wars geek got to live out his dream and interview the actors. i'm jealous but so happy for my fellow geek :))
