Build your own nas or buy a Synology nas.

How about the WD My Cloud EX2? I am just looking for a NAS to back up my personal data. It's for home usage, not for commercial purposes
.so I am looking for an easy-to-use NAS

I wouldn't buy WD. Thanks for watching. Like and subscribe!

I suspect the reason why it didn't work the first time is because it didn't yet have an address, and when you connected it to the WiFi box, the WiFi box gave it an address
(this is very much a simplified explanation)
I will admit im not familiar with Western Digital NAS devices, the only NAS devices i have are Synoligy
(and with those, in my setup the connection goes from the NAS, through a gigantic network switch (i have a lot of things that use ethernet), into the WiFi box, and to my laptops (which i have too many of))

Is there any other better alternative if I want to have basically a private cloud for accessing files? instead of paying for Google Drive etc

      Edit: amzn.to/4aZTrFj
This 2 drive nas allows for an expansion in the future. This is what I would buy. I'm pretty sure you can get Synology software that give you remote access to your nas. If you buy using my link, I will make a small commission.
Yeah I would go with a real nas. I'll drop a link to what I would buy in a moment. Just keep in mind, I haven't bought a nas yet, but I plan to in the future.

@@Matt_Dylan wow these are pretty expensive, and they come without the hard drive from what I see.

There is the "WD My Cloud" and the WD My Cloud HOME" versions.
I guess you might want to choose the NON-HOME version, I suppose...

Good info. I thought it worked like a nas, which tranfer over wifi, not an Internet. Or is it nas also work that way?

    • @Matt_Dylan
      @Matt_Dylan  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

A nas could connect to your PC via Ethernet cable.

@Matt_Dylan I means if you connect nas to your router. Then you connect to the storage via WiFi, will it use Internet or the WiFi?
Same wifi network..not outside WiFi networks which obviously use the Internet..

Map your network drive and problem solved. You need to do a little research is all. In your defense WD should supply software to automate this.

Your brain is too smooth. I bought a product. I had an experience. This is a review of my experience. The product sucks. It sucks for many more reasons than I even mentioned.

WD Home Cloud is probably the worst IT device I ever bought.

I disassembled a 3TB My Cloud home, extracted the HDD and put it into an HP AIO PC with a broken stand.
