Heartbreakingly beautiful. Does anyone known the composer of this particular setting for this prayer? I've heard many different melodies for this by other cantors, but this is by far and away the most beautiful.

This arrangement begins with the melody by Max Janowski (b.1912, Berlin - d.1991, Chicago). He was a composer, conductor, pianist and teacher of voice. For many years he was the Music Director of KAM Isaiah Israel Congregation in Hyde Park (Chicago). He emigrated first to Japan in the 1930's, then came to the USA and served in the US Navy during WWII. His music is absolutely timeless...
It sounds like Janowski if I recall correctly. His contributions to Jewish music and collection of work is not only beautiful but quite voluminous. If you enjoyed this piece I would recommend finding a renditions for his arraignment of Ahavat Olam. It’s one of my absolute favorite versions.
