Listening to this during a time of absolute sorrow and devastation for my people. G_d please hear our cry and have mercy on your people.
Beautiful version
I play this frequently now. Brings me comfort in these difficult days. I hope you are doing well Lior. Am Yisrael Chai!
The lyrics of this section translate as follows: our father our King (avinu malkenu) be gracious (chanenu) with us and answer us (v'anenu) because we have no deeds (ki ain banu ma'asim-the word good is implied -ie we are coming to u without good deeds for the year), treat us (asei imanu) with righteousness (tzedaka)and kindness (hesed). and save us (vehoshienu). It's the last stanza of many that start with father and king.
Shana Tova ! Voilà j'ai réussi ! Shana Tova!

A lifechanging song and voice. In awe.
Astonishing, life affirming, from the pit of darkness, supreme beauty, technical brilliance... So grateful to discover this jewel of a hymn, and, album. Blessings and Gratitude to you, for such a wonderful piece.
It's not an easy task to listen this song and remain impassive, while you're feeling how a huge shudder runs through your heart and soul...
Wept openly during this performance at the Opera House. So blessed to be there.
This has always been one of the prayers that moved me to tears every year at HHD. Listening to this version my heart is exploding with love for Avinu Malkienu
I was 1 seat from the front. Was amazing!
I could play this over and over again. Congrats on winning your award for this Album Lior. A person doesn't need to know the language to feel the music.
I do, every year around Yom Kippur.
I find myself continually coming back to this amazing piece, and have shared it with many people. I love it. The most passionate … compassionate piece I have heard.
Same. I sent and send it to all the people who matters in my life... 💕
Lior is an amazing musician and singer. I love this!
the way you change your vocals and languages is very talented this song is felt by the soul
This the most moving rendition of ‘Avinu Malkeinu’ I’ve ever heard. Listened to it over and over on Rosh Hashanah and was moved to tears every time. It almost was the only prayer on this holy day. Thank you Lior & SSO. Shana Tova!
What a beautiful and emotionally stirring performance - perfectly suited for the pleading contrite nature of the prayer.
Just saw him perform this live tonight!! Somehow even better!! One of the greatest musical experiences of my life!
How good is this? My son loves this rendition. Thanks, Lior.
this is taking a prayer into higher levels.
This song will moves my troubled soul when I despair.
A prayer for forgiveness that reaches back at least 3,000 years and yet Adonai hears today.
Belíssimo! Perfeito! "AVINU MALKEINU"
Amazing
Beautiful orchestration that elevate the soul , it features all sentiments of compassion, this slow, chanting, repetitive aspect to the melody to represent the pious pleading within the prayer.
Truly moving. A prayer to "our Father, our King", sung from the heart. All Praise to G-D!!
this is absolutely breathtaking! i wish i could have been able to hear this perfection live
WOW, that's was so amazing! Very BEAUTIFUL!
I heard part of this song cycle on ABC Classic Fm earlier this week. Absolutely sublime.
So now the CD is on its way to me by post.
I want to buy the CD or this song from Apple Music but I couldn't find it. Any suggestions please ?

Saw this performed at the Myer Music Bowl. Just magical. A night we'll never forget
Wonderful! I just bought the album "Compassion" for my own Christmas present. What a blessing listening to it has been. Thankyou to all concerned in the making of the concert and the CD. The live concert at the Opera House was sublime.
Breath-taking. BEAUTIFUL.. Thank you... ab
I have heard a lot of music and been involved in all sorts of cultural mixtures, and love to be a part of it, always... This, though, goes beyond all boundaries of the sort. WOW.
Beautiful....
Absolute perfection.
Simply gorgeous!
His voice is so good!
Gerçekten güzel bir ses. Tebrikler Lior ve değerli Sydney Flarmoni orkestrasina.
Love it - a great cultural mix, musically. Despite others feeling it was not suited, as an introduction to this style for the unfamiliar, it was in a word, captivating.
Goosebumps!
Music of heaven & I'm not even religious 🌟
+Lisa Sutherland-Fraser
Hi Lisa, that is really your big problem.
How exquisite is this and the whole Compassion CD. With the current troubles in the Middle East at the moment I go to this for solace
exquisite!
love love love this song
Dissonance is a style that was incorporated into the orchestral accompaniment. Many people truly adore this, however in a contemporary sense it is harshly judged. As an avid musician I loved the accompaniment. This is a song of compassion, and these techniques are used to allude to suffering. It captured the true sense and meaning of the music perfectly.
Dissonance is a beautiful tool in conveying emotion if it is used properly and not overused or abused.
@PeePeeJones YES MAN! You are absolutely right. people dont realize the either = (major scale with flat 2, flath 6th) OR - "Minor Scale with major 3rd and major 7th) are exactly the same.. except for the end... which is a mixture of natural minor and natural major. and yes, what you said, there is a MAGIC to it, people are no longer accustomed to./.. you and I certaionly ARE!!
@@NeverlandSystemKaleb YEs, Kaleb. unless you have grown up around 12-tone scale or every other scale for that matter... you're right. it's just perfectly used in this song, and also Bedouin Song.
Beautiful song
Absolutly beautiful! Thank you
Heavenly, splendid, magnificent!
A very patient cough at the end well done to that person who seemed to be holding it in haha
Don’t know what your words are but I love your sound...thankyou

Real prayer. Our God is our Lord. He is the Master of our soulds. Thank you Jeesus Kristus 🙏 who is coming soon.
Such feeling in Lior's performance. Very stirring. Would love to know the interpretation in English.
Our father our king. Google it for accurate translation. This is a central prayer we do on the highest holidays of awe or commonly known as Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur when we ask for forgiveness and repent

Very interesting accompaniment to the singer, especially after 2’50”!
This was wonderful. Too bad some previous postings were not showing compassion with their words.
💯❤️ billion of blessings to israel God allmarty family forever 💯❤️
I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice:
“Salvation belongs to our God,
who sits on the throne,
and to the Lamb.”
Avinu Malkeinu (Our Father, our King)
Avinu, Malkeinu!
Avinu, Malkeinu, Chanenu va-aneinu (Our Father, our King, favor us and answer us)
Ki ein baanu ma'asim. (for we have no accomplishments [ie good deeds of our own].)
Aseh imanu tsedaqa vachesed, (Deal with us charitably/mercifully and with loving-kindness,)
v'Hoshiyenu (and save us.)
Amazing singing. And what a masterful orchestral arrangement. I wonder who wrote it?
Lior (the singer) and Nigel Westlake (the conductor of the orchestra) wrote the arrangement together as part of a larger work
Where to find this song or album ? I want to buy it please . Couldn't find it on Apple Music .

Beautiful...The Almighty will defend Israel...He will bless those who bless her and curse those who curse her.
I can't think of a part that I didn't like
Just the motif consistency put me on my feet, never a flaw or a change in tone.
Would do great in a movie about a dessert king who had to prove himself.
The song resonates with Jewish history and Jewish heartache. One feels the plea.
It's very good, but he forgot to wear his yarmulke.
+Michael Barnett Radovsky
same thought...
Michael Barnett Radovsky, you must be of a dying breed. I'm Austrian, I live in Australia, I love this song, my mum was Catholic, but one day I will record myself singing it. Please stop being so narrow minded. I allow Jewish people to sing the Austrian Song "Stille Nacht Heilige Nacht/Holy Night", I don't expect them to wear a Leder Hose and a feather hat. Let the heart sing to the One with many names, and let your mind focus on love, rather than material possessions and outer garments, let your mind be free of restrictions of any kind. I hope people with your narrow way of thinking will die out soon and be gone from this planet.
Sissi
you are comparing an apple with an orange...
Avinu Malkenu is a jewish PRAYER song.
And as Lior, being jewish, he should wear a kippah while singing.
He wasn't at synagogue.
Avinu Malkeinu is not a prayer. In any case, there is no halakhic requirement to wear a kippah (yarmulke in Yiddish) Moreover, the connection between the kippah and song is only in reference to the Torah, and Avinu Malkeinu is not from the Torah.
the AVINU MALKENU tune is an old traditional jewish tune to this YOM KIPUR prayer . not lior's tune .
Skillful singing. Missing KAVANA.
absolutely.
hey is this dude Jewish? how come no yarmulke? just asking not kvetchin
jag sameaj to everyone for Sukkos!
This happens to be one of my favorites. I find it lacking. First the pronunciation is not according to the marks in the Torah, Second He showed no awe or respect by not wearing a head cover, and lastly this was treated as a frame for the individual and showing off of the orchestra.
Chananiah D'Gabriel the pronunciation is perfect
This was a symphony performance. Not in a temple or shul. Nice performance, let's just like it and not k'vetch.(some ppl expect us to do that let's not be a stereotype. )
I grew up with this version and I appreciate reflecting on what was with both the singer and the orchestra.
Sounds nice but the orchestra is unnecessary would have been much better with traditional instruments.
What do you think "traditional" instruments are? This is made by and for Jews.
awful orchestration, so mismatched that it must be attributed to idiocy or ignorance or both.
Worst version I have every had the misfortune to hear.
Meh!
