  • Yo!
This video is a compilation of around 2 weeks worth of footage.
Much was left out of this vid since I messed around a lot and did heaps of small niggly tasks on the bike!
Working on vintage bikes is definitely something you can sink many hours into!
At the moment, the bike starts poorly when cold, but runs well when warm (most times). I'm still figuring it all out!
If you want to follow along for the ride, please consider subscribing! :)

I like your video very much. I also work a little on motorcycles and can learn a lot of helpful things from you. Keep it up 👍🏼

Love what you've done with the bike. I am having an issue with my 81. Idles great but can't get top speed past 40mph. I know its a jetting issue. What size jets do you have in your carb?

      Oh, that sounds problematic.
Not sure able idle jet, but my main jet is 80 and needle clip is one higher than centre.

At 2:40 You can remove the air boxe by taking out the rear wheel and rear fender only witout destroing the original air box.

      Yeah... too much effort!

Hi Alan, thanks for the video, really interesting. I have a 1978 Z400 which I've bought the same carbs from Mikuni OZ like you (are yours the VM32's?). I live in the UK, but they assured me these would work fine. I've had the same issues you've had from the super random idle (running frantically high or too low), and my throttle cable didn't fit correctly either. I never knew that it was supposed to fit inside the brass nut!! Thanks for your insight, it's helped me realise what I need to do to get mine running. Love your paint job also. Really nice looking bike.

      Hey Grant!
      Yes mine are the vm32.
They are quite finicky aren't they!
I've found that the supplied jets will normally be pretty close to perfect. If your rpms are all over the place, then it's most likely installation error!
I'm glad that this vid helped you out! Let me know if you run into any issues!

Nice work. I have an 82 KZ440. Took me time to adjust my carburetor. Starts up fine in the warm weather but definitely need to use the choke more often in colder weather.
Question, what did you do to have aftermarket turn signals work properly? I can’t figure that out.

I tried LED signals and didn't have much luck.
The current blinkers I have are halogen and they were a direct plug and play. I might have had to do a bit of soldering.

      Hey mate,
I have been using ebay, amazon and some Australia sites.
In America I hear 4into1, z1 enterprises and cmsnl are good sites to buy from.
