Yes, it is 3M Scotch Heavy Duty Outdoor Mounting Tape, comes in a mostly red package and has red backing over the adhesive. There's a $6 roll and a $16 roll (more or less) at most places.
I like red and yellow for visibility. In fact I'm kind of in a rut with this combo I'd like to work out of with some other colors. I think any dark + light combo, top and bottom, would be pretty good.
Regarding the arrow shafts, I picked up a box of 12 from Academy Sports store which were marked on clearance 1/2 off regular price. So check them out if you have one near you.
I finally gave in and ordered some tape from tapebrothers. my plane was kind of hard to see, so I will either add color to one side or make a new airframe. What do you find to be the most visible colors? I ordered red, yellow, black, orange, green, and some checker pattern
The Walmart in my area finally got some in $3 for 31 inch arrows. Otherwise I am using Walmart garden stakes which are very stiff and come in various sizes up to 5ft for around a buck.
Vertical stabilizer root chord shows as being 5.5 inches. But you state "effective root chord is 6". Is "effective" root chord referring to something other than visual measurement?
I was alone the first few times I flew it, so no videographer available. It's got 2.4GHz video so I can't fly it at the regular field with my buds. I'll get someone out there to video it sometime soon though.
Tape from TapeBrothers com and arrow shafts from Cabelas $26 for 6. There have been some carbon arrow shafts turning up on eBay lately, so keep your eyes out.
Hi Ed, thanking you for your posts.working on my first build and your videos are a great resource. Thank you!
Thanks, next time I run to the sporting goods store, I'll ask them :) Buying spars from them will make things so much easier. Thanks for your help.
