    Great build, I noticed the tape is put in a different direction on the wing build process. My experience is that longitudinal taping helps to reduce the wing flex due to the tension of the tape.

    • @hifinsword
      @hifinsword ปีที่แล้ว

      I am wondering if he used the CF rod he used for spacing the strips inside the wing as a spar. If he did, no need for the longitudinal stiffness from the tape. If not, the lengthwise tape would be needed. But maybe only a strip or 2, not the entire covering.

    10:44 aileron chord is PART OF the wing chord.!
    results tend to be less-than optimal when ailerons are 'added to' the trailing edge of a completed wing.

    There's 2 kinds of people in the world:
    1. Those who never thought we'd see long range drones mage of cardboard taking out airbases.
    2. Experimental Airlines subscribers.

    Hello good morning:
    In one of his videos I have seen a method to transport a flying wing in two halves. Right now I am no longer able to find that video. Would you be so kind as to tell me which video it is from?
    Do you have a tutorial where you explain how to do it?
    Thank you very much, kind regards 👍

    Ed at Experimental Airlines got me started in making , 1 dollar foamboard with hot glue , RC Airplanes , over 10 Years ago ! ... I spent a lot of enjoyable time and money since then ! ... Then the Racers and Building Bombers took the Attention ... The Need for Speed and flipped out flying became popular ... Then the Rules and Regulations came in , quashing the whole Hobby ! ... But the Government took over with their Police , Military , Spy and Corporate Drones , now in Common Use .... while the People trying to enjoy the Freedom of Flying , get their Wings , more and more Clipped ! ... Welcome to Amerika ..... Now lineup and take your Flew Shot !

    What kind of motor mount is that? I have seen some but they don't seem to have the same dimensions. Following along with this build and building one of my own. Thanks for videos and your great explanations.

      You can see at 6:31 that he is using a BR4108 and he stated at the beginning of the video that he is using the 480KV version. I found this motor online for about $24. That motor is swinging a 14" prop on this build and uses a 50amp ESC. Not sure how he mounted that prop tho.

    • @wa389
      @wa389 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      2:10 he is using the L9R (FrSky) receiver. These long range planes are frequently waypoint controlled from the flight controller using the iNav software. In other words, iNav can be configured for autonomous flights. In this case he is using the Mateksys 405 Wing flight controller. The other thing to note is that he is using a 600 mW video transmitter, because it is important to step up the power output when flying distance. On top of that you need to position the GPS away from this high powered video transmitter which on a plane of this size should not be a problem.

    So I have a Silver Eagle built & ready to fly, almost. One problem when plugging in the battery, the right control surface on the tail is 'flexed' by the servo to it max downward position momentarily. Unfortunately, the foam can't take this extreme action & requires repair each time I plug in a battery. I'm using a SpeedyBee F405 Wing flight controller with a SpekTrum SPM4650 receiver. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem or just has a suggestion I can investigate. Thanks !!!!

    Question;
    Would a cylindrical fuselage make a less draggy plane?

    • @CDRaff
      @CDRaff ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but it would be exponentially more difficult and time consuming to build. The whole reason these build techniques exist the way that they do is to make building them cheap and easy so that crashing them and iterating on their design isn't an expensive time sink.
      You can see more elaborate and aerodynamic builds with something like Flite Test's "Master Series".

    I like your RC builds. I am a pilot and I used to fly RC years ago. I've had a couple of near misses with drone type aircraft in the last two years. When flying at full size aircraft speeds, there is no see and avoid when it comes to drones and small rc builds. They go by so fast, that it's just luck that there was no collision. I immediately report this to ATC hoping that something can be done to mitigate the potential disastrous outcome of a collision with private aircraft. I truly hope that you and others that are operating autonomous models are incorporating some type of collision avoidance equipment in your builds. Please keep in mind that there are real people flying around with their families in small planes. A collision could kill us. Have fun with your models but please be aware of conflicting traffic.😁

      This isn't a drone.. It's got nearly a 6ft wingspan. As far as I know, there is not one single incident in the history of USA aviation where a model plane has caused a crash of a full scale plane. You are already getting your wish with the insane over regulation coming down soon.

    • @ericapelz260
      @ericapelz260 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ardu pilot does include avoidance if the other aircraft has a transponder. I don't know how well it works, but I've seen it in the docs.

    How did you place the CG when you came up with design? it seems so far back

    • @JohnsOldMercurySite
      @JohnsOldMercurySite ปีที่แล้ว +1

      install electronics in fuselage.....find the balance point of the fuselage.........measure the cord of your wing 1/3 back from leading edge to find the CG of the wing.....now place your wings CG point over the balance position of your fuse and you are close enough to get it in the air

    • @AerialWaviator
      @AerialWaviator ปีที่แล้ว

      Adding to what @mwbvideos good info. Besides installing, or temporary placing the electronics in/on fuselage, you'll also need to place motor (on tail), battery and servos, as they would be positioned between front and rear when completed. Using a rubber band(s) is one way to hold in place. (can even be external initially at this stage). Moving/positioning the battery (front/rear) at this stage can help you better find an preferred location (as it will alter CoG balance point, and thus where wing is placed, as well as position of the battery hatch opening)
