I still remember in 2020 during online school when our teacher made us watch this video during class. Makes me nostlagic. Until today it's useful for me and I'm using it for quick revision in 12th grade for my combined science exam, it's excellent for jogging memory. Thank you for this straightforward video!
Me too in grade 10
My teacher gave this to me 5 hours before my test , you really helped
It does very much
anyone from quarantine whose teachers told em to watch this here?

Honestly, the video was surprisingly well-constructed and beautifully produced. It was clear and concise and got the point across smoothly. Overall a pretty great choice by our online teachers lol
Yea
Why surprising 😏
my biology teacher assigned this video for us to watch, and it's surprisingly helpful. great video!
I've seen more than 10 videos to understand the differences between benedict's, iodine, and biuret test but none of the videos was straight forward as this video. This is the best one. Thank you so much for this explanation.
Biology Assessment tomorrow, this really helped, thank you so much. The assessment's on the whole of Topic 1 (enzymes, food tests, osmosis, etc.) All your videos are really helpful.
Teacher decided to show us this day before exams...thanks for the help
+Mikhail Diljohn you're welcome. Hope you did well in the exams
Science Sauce Thanks man and the exam went well :D
Mikhail Diljohn you got a D? Jk
Me neither
timestamps:
0:33 iodine test for starch
1:09 biuret test for protein
1:49 benedict's test for reducing sugars
3:07 ethanol emulsion test for fats
3:51 DCPIP test for vitamin C
Thank you so much! I have been watching tons of videos on youtube yet none were like yours! You were extremely clear about the observations and it was a very easy video to understand. Thank you Mr.Science Sauce!!!!
Really really useful!!!! I needed this the day before my exam, thanks. Keep up the great content.
Thanks. I hope you did well in your exam.
mee toooo

Anybody watching the video now?? But honestly this was very helpful i wrote the IGCSE exam last year and managed to get an A star thanks to you sir.. Amazing teacher
Good luck 2019 biology students!

Fiyaz Rahuman we got this
I went on to get a 9 and study biology A level. You guys can do it!
Thank you much. I'm having a biology test tomorrow and teacher decide to include this on the test. This was really helpful :)
Good luck with your test. Remember that with questions on this topic, if it asks you "How to safely test for the presence of ...", you get a mark for safety. For example, "Wear safety goggles".
Science Sauce Thank you so much and for the tip which I will make sure to note :)
Science Sauce Gosh thanks for that tip. I have a biology practical exam tomorrow and I don't even know what they might give. Thanks, I'll go check out your other videos now
Same.
Science Sauce to kind bro
To any GCSE students good luck. And anyone whose taking any form of a science test and watched this!
But thanks for the great video, it was easy to follow and understand, really helped with my studies! :)
Where have you been all this time thank you so much I really appreciate 🥰🥰
Why is everyone's teacher giving this to them right before exams🤔
because my exam is tomorrow
I got a feeling that my bio teacher will give us a test tomorrow😂
riquel carey I KNOW RIGHTYTT
OhMiC SAMEEEEE
Same dude but a bit earlier
This was very useful, I have my a level unit 3 internal assessment in few hours and this definitely saved me.

given the Question," Describe how each of the food samples identified in this experimental video is metabolised" how should one answer that question?
For reducing sugars you can also use Sudan 3 which separates the oil from the water, leaving the oil on top in a red colour.
Sudan III is a lipid test not a reducing sugar test. Otherwise you are correct but emulsion test is a better one.
If i was dipped in ethanol it would turn into a real cloud
I'm dead!!!!LMAO
@@alterego8632 Perhaps you were dipped in methanol
LOL!!
Alter Ego, thankfully I am not
😂😂😂😂😂LOL
biology practical exam tomorrow, so this really helped me to know what exactly am i supposed to do. thanks op!
Great explanation !!!!It was really really helpful!! I needed this the day before my exam .....THANKS FOR THE HELP @Science Sauce
You’re most welcome
☆☆☆☆☆ 5 STARS , NICE vid, straight to the point of the tests, easy to understand THANK YOU! Please make more for BIO Labs !
exactly what i thought 👍👌😊
An actual clear explanation, thanks.
I’m watching this 5 minutes before my bio exam. Fingers crossed 🥲
This video helped me with my Science home work. Thank You Science Sauce. I subscribed
+pika147chu happy to help! Hope you get a good mark
Dudes voice is so soothing this video is yes
Thanks for making this Video. I really thanks the video maker from the bottom of my heart. For his video, I will be Passing my Science Exam. Once again Thank you very much. Keep making videos and keep helping us.
I just Loved the video.
Thanks for the comment. Good luck with your science exam.
Thanks
Ahhh thank you sooooo much my IS teacher gave me and my classmates this vid to watch a dat before our😀 exams and it helped soooo much thank you sooo much
CONCISE,BRIEF AND EFFECTIVE.CHEERS
Well my teacher knew which video to choose ,best teacher to best opinion ❤
Thanks this really helped! Tomorrow I have lab session :)
looking for DCPIP for Vitamin C test. what is this and where can i get it?
I have a Biology test tomorrow.Taking help from this video.😇
Good luck for your test.
What the solution of non reducing sugar
This video actually helped me with my science homework
why do u have to pour the biuret solution on top of the protein suspension, basically y does it have to form a layer on top before mixing?
It doesn’t. In the experiment in the video I used egg white which is very thick so the solutions didn’t mix until shaken or stirred. It’s not necessary for that to happen when testing for proteins, however.
a white emulsion also formed in the oil test tube when you used the buiret solution.
Uhh that’s for eyehole bro
Thanks for making us to understand
I got to watch this video in class and I always watch it before my exam and I'm sad to say this was my last exam 😢
ok
Great video. You explain very well. Continue!
PROFESSOR HOW DO WE TEST IF A FRUIT OR VEGETABLE HAVE IODINE AND HOW DO WE KNOW IF THERE SOIL HAVE IODINE WHAT COLOUR WILL BE THE SOIL IN SEARCH OF IODINE IN FRUTS AND PLANTS KINDLY I ASK I NEED YOUR HELP 🙇
what would you say is a helpful way to remember the colour changes as my exam is next week - good video by the way !
Thanks i have written the exam Good💖💖
Biuret solution and Millon's reagent, are they the same solution to test for protein?
No, different chemicals.
so the volume of DCPIP solution must be fixed??
AM having a biology practical tomorrow hope this will help me please thank you.
thank you it helped a lot 😀👍
What should i do in the examination if i need to test for starch with iodine solution in some food sample which is not juicy? add water into it?moreover, do i need to remove the powered food example after peel off the skin of fruit?what is the use of it?
thank you
p.s. i love your video
+Bella Yip Add water and mash it up, then do the test like normal. As for peels, yes, they need to be removed if doing food tests as you want to test the edible part of the food. Hope this helps.
why should you add exactly 2 cm cubic of ethanol to the sample? shouldn't the volume of ethanol added is the same as/more than the sample's volume? thank you :)
Yes I would recommend adding more ethanol to a large sample
thank you, the answer and the video is really helpful
what if the food is solid? do i have to crush it and take the moisture out from the food sample? i hope you can answer this quickly. i have a practical for food test on monday haha
Zahirah Ramlan if the food is solid, ex: potato which contains starch, it'd still show changes when iodine solution is added. however, you are always supposed to use liquid samples in exams as changes won't be visible in solid state. You won't need to sample solid in exams or elsewhere.
+Zahirah Ramlan that's right, you'll need to crush the sample if it's solid, and in most cases in a practical exam a liquid sample is necessary. Good look with your practical on Monday!
Thanks for helping and hope i get a great mark haha
+Zahirah Ramlan fingers crossed
Thanks this video served my teacher as homework :D
There is also the Fehling's test, also used to test for glucose.
Fact: Both the Benedict's test and the Fehling's test was used to detect the amount of glucose in the urine of diabetics. Actually, they use a colorimetric chart to tell the amount of glucose in the urine.
What is the controlled substance
Thank you so much for this
Can biuret’s test identify the presence of carbohydrates or not?
Biuret only tests for proteins. Carbohydrates are not proteins, they are sugars or starches, so you can use benedict reagent.
Thanks this video helped me in biology revision
Love ur every single video... But depress to find not enough content available😞
If one of the food samples did not react with the Biuret test, does this mean that the food sample contains no protein?
it means no protein if it didn't react
Yes.
Show tests for adulterants diff salts radium diff chemicals polysorbates, phosphor combos etc...please
nice video i love it. its so explanatury and easy to understand
Is biuret solution copper sulphate and sodium hydroxide ?
Yes it is
thanks guys really helped out
you know for the change in colours for each test is there a way of remembering each change and what it indicates? because there are a lot of changes in colour and I can't remember what each change in colour indicates
+Shrey Patel not really, I'm afraid it's just something that takes time. I recommend summarising it all in a table.
thanks very much mate, your a legend👊🏽
aw man this helped alot! thank you so much!!
Why does the dcpip turn purple in oil?
It doesn’t. DCPIP is purple before it’s added.
Bro I am only litterly the person watching in 2023 Science sauce you are really awesome I hope I will do well in tomorrows test 🥰
You can even take a food item, wrap it in paper and just rub the paper. The paper would turn greasy and a bit translucent if the food item has fats. This test is far more easier than the one you did.
Thats true, but IGCSE demands you to use the emulsion test to test for fats 🤷♂️
Great explanation!!! Thank you!
+Kim B you're welcome 👍
4 years ago you was in year 9 + and now you are a adult
Thank you
Helped a lot
Thank you !
Learning all the practicals the day of my exam lmao! (teachers never taught me them and i only just realised how important they are *facepalm*) thanks for this!
Good luck for your exam
Science Sauce thanks! It went okay
l think it is good things to teach biology online l like it
Plz upload a video how we could check out the life of a food products
why do we need to include water in this experiment?
It’s used as a control, to confirm that any observable changes are the result of a biological molecule.
Thanks :D
Why do we need to shake when doing dcpip test
+Rukhsar Rasheed just to ensure mixing. It would probably work just fine without shaking, but it might take a little longer.
Here for Ms. Quitiquit’s Biology class (also known as Elizabeth Jo Biology on TH-cam)
same
thank you so much this video helped me a lot...
Awesome Sauce!
Isn’t it awesome sauce!
is it a must to use distilled water for the ethanol emulsion test in exams or?? :)
+Zoey TMH technically, yes. Distilled water is pure, but "normal" water (eg tap water) contains impurities which may affect your experiments, so all laboratory work involving water should require distilled water. In reality, tap water would work fine for this experiment (but you should specify "distilled water" for exams, just to be safe).
Science Sauce thank you very much!!
Waw, what a great video. Thanks this helped so much.
Thank you very vey very much.
Helped a lot.
i need this video's textline
made easy to understand.
great educational video.
+Dr. Bhalchandra Gajare thanks for the feedback!
best tutorial and yea my teacher sent me here before my test
what about sudan 4
what happened to the water?
nothing. it is a control
Tanks teacher 😅😗🌹
should the sample be mixed with water
+Farhan Masud all samples in the video were already a liquid. If the food sample is a solid they should usually be mashed and mixed with water. The iodine test could be carried out on solids, such as potato, however.
Thanks
I HAVE A BIO EXAM TOMOROW I HOPE I GET GOOD MARKS
thx for the video

@@Science_Sauce Thanks.

Thank You so much
Very Easy to understand!
so good. I love this.
This is very helpful for my practical exam xD
Thanks
this is truly helpful
okay but why we test water? i need an answer i have a lab report must be submitted today PLEASE
Water is a control. We test water to make sure the presence of a biological molecule is causing the change we observe.
@@Science_Sauce THANK YOU SO MUCH!
@@Science_Sauce i have another question :) Why is it not necessary to scrape out all the solid from beaker 'B' into beaker 'A'?
