- 'The Bus Conductor' is one of E. F. Benson's early tales of the supernatural. It first appeared in December 1906 in the Pall Mall Magazine. It is one of his most famous stories and featured in the excellent portmanteau horror film 'Dead of Night.' Benson died five years before the movie was released, which is a shame. I think he would have been amused by Ealing Studios recreation of this piece. Who knows what he would think of my own!
I hope to recite the complete collection of E F Benson's supernatural tales. They are often tricky to narrate, but he used such beautifully rich language, making them fun to work on:
"Fear is the most absorbing and luxurious of emotions. One forgets all else if one is afraid."

It is incredibly surprising that so few have heard of your channel when I think how professional your narration is and how interesting you've made these stories.
