  • “I’ve lived with tinnitus for 17 years and mine can be as loud as a jet engine on the tarmac. It plays into every part of my life. I don’t go out as much, I’ve had to change the music I listen to. I became quite paranoid for a while and spent most of my time listening for the sound and trying to work out if it was getting worse. I couldn’t sleep, it was exhausting - but the doctor just told me bluntly that I simply had to learn to live with it.
    "I can cope with it now, but it has taken many years and the lack of funding into research over this time has shocked me. The idea of silence is a dream to me - a cure would have a massive impact.”
    People with tinnitus urgently need the Government to commit to investing more in tinnitus research.
