  • We've signed up for a Christmas farmers market, because we want to get some hands on experience with trying to sell some of the new Christmas items that we are hoping to add to the farm - dried flower bouquets, dried flower ornaments, and evergreen wreaths. But, if we want to have any luck at this craft fair, then we need to do the work! Join us as we harvest and work in the week leading up to the market, before setting up what might be my favorite market display of the year. Will we sell anything? Still around till the end to find out!

Only my opinion the wreaths just needed a ribbon so they can stand out or even a couple of baubles. Loved your dried flower ornaments very pretty Lia,s Xmas cards are a triumph Red roof family farm could start an Etsy shop.

The wreaths need some pizzazz. Ribbons, berries, lambs ear, more kinds of evergreens like holly, cypress, spruce etc. Some other designers used crabapple. To sell, the wreaths need to look outstanding. I'm only critical because I want you to make money after all your work. Lia is your new star!

Don't give up on wreaths! Try adding some red strawflowers or white statice to some of them. We sold dried flower wreaths (no evergreens) back in the 90s (I know, I'm old) for $40, and now the same size and style we sold then sell for $100-$150. It is labor intensive, but this time of year maybe that's okay.

I thought FOR SURE you were going to make some wreaths with the bright cheerful colored flowers!!
I know those are not traditional Christmas colors, but hey, you are Queen of non-traditional, right!
Oh - how about a Chanukah wreath? All blue & white!
The timing is a bit late, but I think Jewish people would still buy them!
(And yes, some Jewish people DO peruse Christmas markets! Really, they do.)
And Christmas people do the blue themed Christmas trees too, so there's that.
And then there's an all Red wreath with just a touch of evergreen greens behind them... !
Oh! A Red & White wreath!
    And- SO MANY MOOORE!!!
Go ahead & make the all Pink wreaths! Moms of Little girls will buy that as a gift for their bedroom decor!
The all Pink wreaths will sell for Valentines Day IF they don't sell at Christmas. Plus, by then, you've already made them, so they're kinda like easy $$$ in February!
At a Christmas market I would buy a "Springtime" wreath with all the cheerful Springtime colors like bright yellow, bright oranges, all the pinks, all the blues,(I really like the blues!) & purples (Don't forget the purples!).
    - and then I'd save it for AFTER the holidays!
What a great way to brighten up those gloomy, grey, days ahead!! I prolly wouldn't want any of the russets, golds, & browns in that wreath tho...
I cannot get the glorious sight of all that Larkspur we saw in the box!!
A wreath of JUST Larkspur, (mixed colors) which is put together in the same fashion as a wheat wreath - OMG!!!
    SOOOO FABULOUS!!!
Oh! Do you have enough Eucalyptus do do a whole wreath of THAT?!!
Bcuz I think people would like THAT!! Plus, it smells good too, so that's a bonus.
    Here's a question:
What Christmas present do you buy a teenage girl who has gone goth??
    Answer-
    Black fingernail polish,
    AND
    A Black & White wreath!!
    New wreath idea-
For this idea, you'll have to buy the wreath base, unless you've already got a grapevine, and what a great excuse to grow grapes this next year!
    Ok - Here's the idea:
Those little, mini, grapevine wreaths- decorate with the flower heads, add a tiny bow, and hang those on the tree!
    Wow.
    That's a lot of ideas!
I didn't realize all that was hiding inside me!!
Now I just need to make a wreath emoji and I'm all set!!
    ❤💚❤💚❤💚❤💚❤💚❤

Christmas ornaments with dried flowers . Excellent idea!!. You can make gifts and center pieces for weddings, birthdays and valentines day. With heart shaped clear molds filled with flowers. Also the ones that you dried in Silica makes for great gift idea. You can make an online store and ship out. We are all rooting for your business to grow. God bless

I believe they come in heart shaped as well and they look beautiful when they’re filled with dried flowers… you can actually get a marker or paint that comes out of the fine tip paint and write things like …faith, love, hope, blessing, scriptures, Merry Christmas etc.
I told you before that I had a dried flower business… little tiny swags make very good Christmas gifts… you can add three eucalyptus branches to the left and the right use some sweet Annie use floral wire and tie it in the middle of it… add dried flowers like larkspur with hot glue gun and other flowers… put a little bow in the middle and you got like a $25 swag. Open up a paper clip and hook it in the back of the swag and you hang it on the wall or your booth.
My other things that I added into Christmas wreaths… I had a dehydrator so I will dry a lot of apple and orange slices use them with dry pomegranates and cinnamon sticks with a festive plaid red bow. I would also use fresh holly

Grat job, even though it didn't sell, it was a great idea and a great attempt into expanding your sales, maybe they didn't sell because by December people tend to already have their ornaments in place. I was thinking that maybe next year in September or at the begining of October you could sell Autumn theme dried flowers wreaths, you can even include some small pumpkins in them, and people could buy them for their Autumn and Thanksgiving decorations. You already have the flowers dried, so maybe that could be another extra element to your stand. I love your creativity and your enthusiasm, keep at it.

What about adding a small ribbon to the ornaments in a similar color? More work, but more perceived value? Also, could you make a display with the ornaments hanging on a Christmas tree to show off how pretty they are?

Those were my sentiments exactly about the tree. I wouldn’t go to time for ribbon myself. A green tree with all white ornaments would be beautiful and catch attention. Battery powered white twinkle lights. Next year you’ll know to bring your own illumination! A good video.

Love the ornaments. I'm sure there are other shapes of ornaments that you could utilize and sell all through the year especially in an online store.
I recently saw a photo of an entire Christmas tree decorated in dried flowers at a botanical location somewhere. It was stunningly beautiful. You could do wreaths like that with the greenery or even have a sample small Christmas tree decorated in all dried flowers that might promote the dry flower bouquet sales. Maybe consider centerpieces of greenery and dried flowers for tabletop use.

Another idea to sell your dried flowers: glassbottle-candleholders. You can put your dried flowers inside the bottle and put a candle on the opening of the bottle. Maybye put a nice ribbon on the neck of the bottle?
These you could sell all year long because they aren't neccesary christmas themed.

Try adding fresh cut winter greens, pine or cedar, whatever you can source there for free.... They look fabulous with dried flowers and collaring the brittle drieds with a soft outer bumper helps to protect them as well, wrap with paper and a festive ribbon. Also adding dehydrated orange apple pear slices and nuts, cones and berries work marvelously too. Ive worked with drieds and fresh for more than 30 years.. Lots of options!!

Try out some dried berries and rose petals too.

People tend to buy wreaths late nov, early dec, so its a little late. You need to make your wreaths different than what you can buy in the store. Try some glitter spray on dried flowers, like the sedum or pinecones. They really needed a lot more dried flower originality. To be a top seller you need to be original with something no one else has. You are competing with big stores, why would I buy your wreath, when I can get the same thing cheaper at Costco or Wal-Mart? You have to add something people can't get elsewhere to make it of value to someone. Just think of the greenery as a base of a flower arrangement for a few and try that. If I bought a wreath that had colorful dried flowers I would leave it up throughout January, so that would add value. Also consider adding an awning to your roadside stand. That way you can hang things like wreaths, to advertise you are selling them, on the front side of the building and they are protected by the weather.

  • @tammypurtee8770

Not to be mean but, your wreaths were very plain and some with the bare bits of branches sticking out were rather ugly, in my opinion. I'd add some ribbons and bows and cut off the bare branches. I also thought your prices were rather high but that may well be the cost of living difference in our areas. Hope you have better success next year.

I would have bought one or more of everything 😃 It occurs to me that people adore making their own wreaths and garlands and might prefer to buy the lovely elements for them that you had, though perhaps daytime selling would better when customers can see everything more clearly and use some of your own wreaths for inspiration. Have you done or considered doing (assuming you had enough time) workshops for dried flowers and wreaths?

I love the idea and as I get older I understand getting inspiration from my mother. I was and still am a daddy's girl but the craft portion of my mother and gardening is shining through from my mom. Anyways....😁 just a idea that might help with your ornaments Is to put a year on it or personalize them so you can up your price. Hope yall have a blessed Christmas and happy new year!

Hey! This was my first year doing wreaths and i noticed that i sold out the first batch i made Mid Nov, before our towns Santa Parade. Then i went crazy and made more and none sold! haha! I think the issue is people want to decorate their doors early November. So my plan next year is to start Right away after Halloween and keep note of the best selling time throughout November. Im curious to see if they ended up selling at your road stand better than at the Market? Its still good to get the idea in peoples heads NOW that you do make and sell wreaths so that next year they will think of you when they the time comes. Loved your ornaments by the way!

What were the blue flowers @4:07 to @4"11? Seriously, they were beautioful and I want to grow them! Also, do you use a freeze dryer or just dehydrate/hang and dry?

Lia is a gifted child inherited from gifted parents. The wreath are beautifully natural but needed some cosmetic like red ribbons and maybe some dried flowers on them so they can look distinguished. As for the dried ornaments they are unique and can be sold on line easily. Wishing you all the best of luck. 🌲🌲❄❄🛷🛷❤❤🙏🙏🙏

You could also get the clear ornaments that open in half and place larger flower displays in them. They would be faster to assemble as well.

You should look into Holiday craft markets. Usually they are indoors (and well lit), and people come wanting to spend money. One year I bought dried flowers at a craft show I was selling at, and I enjoyed them all winter long. I'd emphasize that aspect in your marketing. The bouquet that keeps on giving.

Love the ornaments. My opinion on the wreaths is, I can buy a wreath with conifer sprigs anywhere but a unique wreath with mostly flowers, kale, etc is VERY unique and I would pay for a one-of-a-kind flower wreath.

Serena, if you just shipped your WHOLE dried flowers shipped in tissue paper or something for us crafters, I would totally buy your dried ranunculus .... ...
you could even sell your flowers to crafters who want to press your flowers at home.
