@@atadam73 fr he’s sooo iconic. I loved the moment and always will remember my first time in the Black Forest exploring around, and getting ambushed by a troll.
Getting the "'You are being hunted event" plains is awesome, just run in circles around the nearest Fueling village. By the time the event is over they will be very few enemies still standing a shitload of good loot.
My first encounter was with friends. We were hyped about playing, and they were chatting away about how difficult the terrain was in the mistlands when I heard the gjall. I have no idea what the sound was, and I told them to be quiet so I could hear where it was coming from. They either didn't hear me or ignored me, so I finally yelled at them to be quite only for him to make a louder noise and descend down to us and attack.
I do admit the troll is awsome and gives that Attack on Titan vibe, but I have a soft spot for all Greydwarf kind. There so good to hit with a axe, kind of slow and easy to avid, but my number one reason for liking them is the mythological and story telling aspect. Odin and his two brothers killed Ymir the giant and created Midgard out of his remains. Odin created a home out of the remains of foe. The player will kill Greydwarf kind and get wood, rock and resin. Which they can use to make wood structures, Campfire and wood torch. They player has created a home out of the remains of there foe. Just like Odin.
I’ll never forget my first encounter with trolls back in 2021, week 1 after the game was out. Me and a friend, exploring the black forest for the first time; suddenly seeing what we thought was a rock, turn around and walk towards us
I remember when I first went to the swamp, and my pants were destroyed when at the same moment as I jumped from the boat that stump just stood up in front of me and broke my boat and me.
I think The icon mob of Valheim is either trolls or greydwarfs and I just realised that the fact that oozers make blobs might be a reference to minecrafts slimes
Its kinda crazy that theres 51 mobs in this game, it feels like im just running into the same few over and over. If someone asked me I'd have guessed there was 15 of them
I have a hard time deciding if the troll or the abomination would top my list. First encounter with either in a fresh playthrough is still a pucker moment.
I would make a list, but there's 50 so that would take forever... All I can say is that you love bats and they have always been your favorite since the frost caves update came out!
I remember me and my friends build a camping hut in front of troll cave to kill the 1* troll inside... Why you ask? So if we die we respawn in front of the cave and can rejoin the fight immediately...
Greylings, boar, and drakes all deserve to be thrown at the way bottom of the list, as they quickly end up only serving as a constant nuisance in all of their respective biomes. Boar will chase you to the end of the map no matter what, greylings spawn at even the tiniest hint of a tree being smacked, and drakes being able to fly means any adventure/build in the mountains means your constantly having to stop what you're doing to deal with them. Contrarily, Vultures and rRabbits should be much much higher on the list, cause the meat they drop can be used to make some of the most powerful foods in the game, while being not nearly as much of a nuisance as the other three I mentioned.
Another great video Spazzy, my personal ranking might have been slightly different in places, but agreed with you for a good 95% of the list, and yes, troll would have been my #1 spot as well! 😀👍👍
Abomination, Troll and Gjall are my favorite creatures, they are so well designed! But I also the Greydwarves are great. I fully agree on skeletons being too basic and boring, because they are really in any fantasy game. Another reason why I don't like the Ashlands... just more skeletons everywhere. Also the reskin of the blob (poison, tar and lava) seems a bit lazy to me.
When the Ashlands was in Beta, the Asksvin was the worst mob ever introduced to the game (I still dislike them). Their design is bland, they could sense you from seemingly 20 miles away, they would sprint at you when only "sensing" you (they don't even have to be alerted), their attacks are awfully telegraphed (bad sound and visual queues), and their bite hitbox seemed to reach 30 metres forward. Not to mention, YOU COULDN'T EVEN RIDE ON THE LAVA WITH THEM. Also I think the Morgen is cute, the way it jumps around.
I hate the vultures. So I’m happy they’re low but I would personally rank them lower than bats, they’re tougher, hit harder, always arrive when you’re being swarmed and in a bad situation. My biggest opps on this game.
Just because they're deadly, doesn't make them badly design. Bats are just useless. At the time when you encounter them, they deal no damage. Vultures at the other hand create a challange that needs different approach - the only defence against them is killing them quickly (rather than trying to run away or get to high ground, like everything else) I think they'd make a nice addition to ocan biom (spawning around small islands/shipwrecks 4+km from center)
I just hate that the mountains just have 4 different looking wolf mobs (wolf, ulv, cultist, warewolf) I feel like that was lame to just make every mob a variation of wolves when there could have been others. My opinion.
@@SpazzyjonesGaming Thanks for the reply :). Yeah I wasn't discounting that but I feel like instead of 4 different wolves they could have maybe swapped a couple out for someting more unique. Love the vids always look forward to new stuff on your channel.
I've never understood all the positivity given to the black forest. It's by far my worst biome. Mining copper is the most annoying thing in the game, besides sailing. Greydwarfs are way too common and drop way too much stuff all over the ground. I would probably put the whole greydwarf clan right at the bottom. except ghosts. I've not played the Ashlands yet, and it concerns me that they supposedly said they took inspiration from the black forest. However, I think things like grinding for flametal are less annoying if you know you don't have 6 more biomes coming up later, as you do in the case of copper. Plus, the stone portal is a reward that mitigates some of the issues of the ashlands. So many other things about the black forest annoy me. There's no new building material, unless you count the poorly implemented core wood. You have, since the bog witch, 3 cooking stations to make, but you can't even get access to a hearth yet (in normal circumstances.) The tool for unlocking fine wood comes in the forest, but the fine wood itself does not , which is another mistake imo. (Fine wood in general is one of the worst things to farm) Also, the black forest is way too common. It still seems to take up more land than any other biome, in all of the completed maps I've looked at. I'm ok with trolls, but I wouldn't put them at #1. I do like burial chambers (except for ghosts.) Pine trees are nice looking, at least.
I'd generally recommend not using the bronze armor. The added armor isn't really worth the slower movement speed over the trollskin armor, and skipping it greatly reduces the amount of time you have to spend mining copper. If you just use the copper for weapons and tools, you can usually get through the biome only mining one or two copper nodes. Also, it can go faster if you dig out the dirt around the node, instead of mining the copper directly. If you completely disconnect the copper from the surrounding terrain, the whole copper node explodes and you can pick it all up at once. And as a bonus, you also get all the stone that you mined from digging around it. IMO, iron mining in the swamp is the real slog in Valheim. You need so much more iron than copper throughout the whole game, and the swamp, with its constant rain, many ranged mobs, and abomination ambushes, is much more tedious to explore.

And it makes me feel like the Valheim map is mine, rather than the mobs' map. Yes, I agree about bronze armor. Though troll armor isn't super easy to get either, since some play-throughs are hard to find enough trolls. The troll set is also ugly as heck, but that's not a big issue. :) I much prefer Iron mining over copper. the crypts are relatively safe and can give insane amounts of iron per crypt. Imo drakes are the worst mobs in valheim, their screaming sound is annoying, they deal close to 0 damage, are annoying to kill cuz unless you are good with bows you're gonna have to wait for them to charge at you for the 2nd time to kill, and while you're mining silver they come to you every minute so you can't reat
