gust locks come off just before takeoff
also cowl flaps go to 3 deg just before takeoff and should never be anything other than open on the ground unless rolling out for takeoff.

Question when you press the button for dry or wet takeoff should I move my controller throttles all the way forward or just leave them at idle? Any help would be nice struggling to get this gorgeous bird in the air without losing airspeed and then crashing.

Leave your throttles in Idle if you're using the AFE. They will increase the power and as long as you rotate gently at 100kts you should be able to get it into the air

Thanks so much for this video! I had a quick question about flight and fuel planning and was wondering if you could share some insight. I am looking for a simpler solution for this compared to what's in the manual, and simbrief's estimates seem to be off once I add pax and cargo to a suggested takeoff weight.
I tried two flights from LaGuardia to Atlanta. My first attempt resulted in a stall and crash after I wasn't giving the engines enough power (I think I read the gauges wrong and looked at BHEP more than MP), and my second attempt resulted in running out of fuel and manually adding more through the tablet before the destination.
Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.
(Edit: I should add that I used the Auto Flight Engineer in both attempts, the first flight up to cruise, and the second one all the way with the suggested power settings.)

I don't have any grand insights into flight planning and fuel yet, that's something I'm going to start exploring (with some flights across Alaska). So far I've been doing hour-long hops with 50% fuel and not worrying about it, which seems to be enough for just about any weight. If I find a good rule of thumb I'll definitely share

@@VFRSim Thanks! Look forward to hearing your thoughts. If I can get a hold of the planning mechanics a bit more, then I'd definitely try to tackle those old nine-hour cross-country trips XD

Ok I can’t seem to find the pilot operations handbook where do I find it?

You can find it in the MSFS Community Folder, then the pmdg-aircraft-dc6 Folder, then in documentation
