Finally finished watching this and I LOVED the archetype breakdowns for both the heroes and villains, which was SUPERB - honestly I think your thumbnail would work well if you focused on that. The insight was fantastic here! The amount of lore you dropped for the voice actors, writers, production, animation and the comics used for the adaptations was 10/10. I will say that my big issue with the video is that the edit isn't very tight here because there's large gaps here and there, and like others have stated in other videos, I'd do more to trim the clips too. Will keep my eyes out for XMen 97!
1:01:36 I think the evil of "stupidity" is represented by Craydon Creed. He's a not a powerfull villain like Apocalypse, a sympathetic figure like Magneto or an evil mastermind like Sinister. He's just a bigot driven by his hate for mutants. He doesn't even care about humans (as proven in the episode "Beauty and the Beast" in which Creed and his men attack a hospital where Hank worked and kidnapp his girlfriend). In the end Creed's downfall comes not by the X-men, but by the Friends of Humanity, the group Creed made, who turn against their leader after that he was the son of mutants. He was punished by people he infected with his hate for mutants.
I love the anime comparison. I haven't read a lot of Claremont X-Men, but of my friends who have, I'm told the 90s X-Men series is almost beat for beat Claremont's X-Men, which a lot of anime adaptations do when translating manga to animation.
@@gameboy_colorful7078 Yeah kinda sorta. Nightcrawler was in two episodes and not like the comics version, he wasn't a jovial elf he was a melodramatic character. The main reason that some of the other X men like Nightcrawler and Iceman weren't in the series for more than two episodes is because the creative team wanted a static team of X men that they could focus on, so that team was based on the most popular version which was the blue team, which Nightcrawler wasnt on. I actually wanted to focus on the topic of some of the downplayed X men like Colossus and Iceman, but the video was running long.
42:50 YOU PUT SOME RESPECT ON JEAN GREY’S NAME😂”She needed to lift some weights though,relying to heavily on her powers🤣😁😆🏞️ Never a good idea to scorn any woman. As we later saw exceedingly so!🐦🔥
U goddamn high if you think the X-Men show wasnt greenlit to sell merch out of it... the difference is, it had a great story and characters... But it was capitalism that allowed it to exist, or did the X-Men show exist in a vacuum and no other merch of media was created out of it out of sheer virtuous principle? (rhetorical question, of course)
As an X-Men fan, I thought this was one hell of a video essay. You did your homework as always. Keep doing the great work! 👍🏿
@windellpete5056 truly appreciate you
22:12 - hey that was a segment from my Cyclops tribute video with Decoded feedback in the background. Cool - cheers: "Soulsnatching"

What happened to night crawler? Was he jyst in one espoide? Im not sure.
@@judyalvarez203 Nightcrawler was in 2 episodes.
I think Nightcrawler was only in a couple episodes because at the time he wasn’t really in the X-men comics. He was in a side series called Excalibur.
