    Very well explained. Just the right amount of detail on each subject.

    Awesome. Local mesh is something I have been wanting. This looks well done.

      no. for a niche segment. no contacts save, no delete for both sides, TTL is 2x28 days so the attackers have 2 months window to collect 2 onths wortg chat and decrypt later :D disappering time cnanot be set, 7 days :D and so on... non anonym, gives out your IP as default, your MAC ID as well :D lethally dangerous app, geek but not good for real life "LIVE" usage

    awsome, thanks.
    My idea would be, is there any kind of "encrypted distributed share". for example, a host shares some content, but he do not want always be online, or there are bandwidth restriction, or someth. He encripts his content and distributes it to futher participants of this group. Because it is encrypted, it is impossible to change the content for non-creator. Also, the distribution is with redundancy, if someone of the participants fails, other can restore the content. "A kind of " like in Torrent, or someth. Then, the group can have a private chat, what is encrypted in this way even without the "host".

      Sounds a lot like Nextcloud with federation.

    Make it possible to transfer files and media in the Briar application in forums and private chats.

      Seriously, file sharing would be amazing. There already seems to be a lot of overlap with Briar and OnionShare. Maybe they should collaborate on a unified solution?

    I would love a sort of mesh distributed usenet store and forward with good encryption and onion or garlic wrapping.

    excellent application, it would be good if the account can be recovered on another cell phone and at least the contacts that have us added can communicate with us again. Greetings.

    Why didn't Brian go for an xmpp server that the app installs and be a client of?

    O protocolo Nostr pode resolver muitos problemas que foi citado a partir dos 50 minutos... sobre mensagens de áudio e imagens de maior qualidade.

    Hey, Is that possible to set 128 or 256bit encryption to meta data in mesh so that eventhough i sent message can be seen or decode from other devices?
    please open some option in briar and also in your page to donate this project. I know its problematic to develop app without financial backup.

    And now we have yet another incompatible messenger :/ why not extend XMPP to handle this Tor-Stuff?

    • @fishypugbruh
      @fishypugbruh 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I2P can handle XMPP as well as IRC, SMTP (for email) and TELNET (for old style BBS)

      IOS can't run the app on the background, so both users need to be literally in the app so receive messages, in android it's not the same since your device can still send the message whenever the other user is connected, it works in the background

      @@briarproject7064 If the internet is absent Briar how it works how far can it get ?
      What technology does it work with? I can't find. 😩

    • @briarproject7064
      @briarproject7064  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Briar is able to send messages via the Internet, Bluetooth, the local network and soon also via removable drives like memory cards.
      Maybe this site helps with understanding how it works: briarproject.org/how-it-works/
