I LOVE your meal prep videos, Joey! So simple - just proves that healthy meals don't have to be complicated or expensive. Just stick to the basics! Please film more of these!!
1:00, Please do some kind of "shopping for new snacks/diet/bulk foods at the grocery store" video! I love when you take us for a run as international viewers don't have anything near all the Americans have!
Thank you! I just discovered your content. I am an older woman working to reclaim my health after having a series of strokes(3 in 18 months). I have been very fortunate in my recovery, being left with partial paralysis and mostly neurological issues. I'm also facing major oral surgery to correct a jaw issue that was never addressed when I was young. So, in light of these factors, now living on my own, I am looking to meal prep to maximize health, convenience and budget. I've already been prepping large batches of oatmeal and malt cereals, eggs with veggies. So I don't skip breakfast anymore. As well as taking advantage of the lunches provided where I live, Monday through Friday. They're all portioned for seniors(smaller portioned), focused on nutritional balance, and $2.50 each. I usually make that my main meal of the day. You really showed me some excellent and easy things I can do for dinners! I am now less intimidated than I was at first. But I would love content on easy to prep and go snacks/dessert options as I tend to eat 5 times a day, just smaller than mid-day meal.
Made it today and it was fire! Instead of portioning out everything, I just put everything in separate containers and just mix and match everything. Fells like very balanced meals!
Take the chicken and put it in the crockpot with some chicken broth and cook it till it shreds then mix it with your mash and some veg, easy lazy dinner you start while you are out all day.
Enjoyed the video and gave some inspiration for the meals. One other question: most people cover breakfast and dinner; what about lunch? What does lunch look for people in mealprep or sporting?
Make regular rice, it’s just as easy. Put the frozen vegetables in a bowl to heat up. Avoid cooking in plastic when possible. But the recipes are inspiring
Tip (not that you asked for it): to increase audience engagement with your videos actually look the camera in the lens instead of looking at your side selfie view all the time
Just followed your recipe to a T, came out pretty good. I do grocery delivery and I ended up getting some massive sweet potatoes so ended up with extra carbs. What went wrong if the chicken didn't cook all the way through by 40 minutes in?
Sunday is my meal prep day now. How do you stop the meals becoming a bit too dry? And can they be stored in the freezer and reheated in microwave? I’ve bought special containers for microwave
Another awesome vid Joey! Love your shopping/recipe videos. I’ve been trying to cook more at home lately because eating out gets expensive & ain’t always the healthiest lol. On the way home from work today had this video queued up and bought some turkey, veggies & sweet potatoes. Trying these tonight, can’t wait😋 Keep up the great videos brotha!👊🏾
I agree, great video. Real products, real life, healthy food. I think people get intimidated with expensive prep supplies and complicated food. I’m sure they want better items, but real life and this economy, this is a start! Better than twinkies. Sad people had to comment like this. I’m glad you are better than the 1st commenter, but come on. Get down off your high horse.
Joey, what are the advantages of sweet potatoes over regular Idaho potatoes? 54 year old nube meal planner here, trying to lean out and add muscle, so I'm trying every source I can find. Luckily I found your channel!
one meal you can add to this rotation that's still cheap to make using a lot of what you are already using in your prep is stuffed bell peppers so that you don't get too stagnate on your use of ground beef and rice.
@@JoeySuggs it’s also a great recommendation for anyone newer to working out and adjusting their diet because bell peppers are great for potassium and helps prevent cramping
i would substitute yellow whole potatoes in place of instant mashed but otherwise spot on cheap and simple. i bet these meals could be made for free from a food bank.
How can i incorporate more protein into my diet, would you recommend a protein shake as well? Maybe yogurt and berries? I need about 180-200 grams of protein a day because i want to get shredded.
I'm wondering if he added those to the basic mashed potatoes because of all the artificial ingredients in the bagged version.... like maybe it ended up being less "artificial" ingredients overall?
He actually does say that at around 2:45. I didn't catch it the first time I watched it. It might be more calories overall, but more "whole" ingredients? :)
Wait, did I just see this right. You microwaved the broccoli in the plastic bag? and also boiled the rice in the plastic bag as well ? but why would you do this? I'm no expert but plastic and microwaves and heat are usually not a healthy combination. I'm surprised nobody in the comments has brought this up.
It only loses about 25% and keeps the same nutrients. For example, if you have 8 ounces of raw chicken, it will weigh around 5-6 ounces cooked, but the macros will be the same as when it was raw. Most people use the pre-cooked weight to calculate macros, but whatever you do, just stay consistent.
Anything cooked in bags is just horrible, the rice, veggies... Why? Just put the rice in the water and drain it. For the veggies just use a bowl or something if you really want to use the microwave!
I am struggling to see how these are high protein dishes. The amount of carbs is high in comparison to the amount of protein in each dish. I applaud you making up meals to have a variety of food to eat during the week and would suggest that you try something healthier than the plastic "I can't believe it's not butter." All those chemicals are worse than the calories saved.
The recipes look great, but I totally disagree with the way he is cooking. Scientists have stated to avoid the use of microwave, as it makes the ingredients toxic & very unhealthy, depriving any nutritious elements from the food. Furthermore, puting the plastic bag into the microwave will surely melt thousands of microplastic particles into the food. Also the layer of aluminum foil is very toxic, especially when it is heated. Since we all care about healthy meal, we should also care about preping them in healthy ways

If you're in the UK like me I just did the equivalent shop on Tesco online and it came in at £25 😄
As at June 2024 for people seeing this in the future!
Maybe Aldi it’s much cheaper
BOGO on chicken breast is wild. You would never see those deals in Canada
It’s actually pretty common at my Publix tbh!!
This is one of the best meal prep videos I’ve seen! Thank you so much for going step by step!

How can i incorporate more protein into my diet, would you recommend a protein shake as well? Maybe yogurt and berries? I need about 180-200 grams of protein a day because i want to get shredded.
The fact that you added the butter and fat free cheeses gave it more calories than the artificially gloved kinds!
Yeah but it a bit less cals and has more protein and more flavor imo!
You keep the meal boxes in the freezer and reheat? Does the food hold up to reheating in the microwave?
Silly question, but when u have one of these meals? What do you do about the chicken? As it’s tricky to reheat?
Normally I cut it up first before microwaving so that it cooked evenly
Love the meal prep. Just one question is freezable??
Yeah for sure!!
Thank goodness for this
Im trying to get into meal prep and working out so this helps a lot.
Let’s goo glad you enjoyed🙌
Where did you buy your electric salt and pepper shakers?
I have similar ones from Amazon
Amazon👌
Great video! But about how long would you say that these are good for in the fridge?
About a week
I love the efficiency and simplicity but I’m concerned about the plastic.
Could use potatos other than sweet if I don’t like sweet potato?
For sureeeee👌
Iam new sub and new to meal prepping so can you do some videos with breakfast lunch dinner snacks
Great video. Well Done!

Any chance you can do a Harris teeter grocery haul??
Don’t have one near me sadly…
how many day the food will last?

How can get the DIET food
Just a recomendation, you shouldve made them into a turkey nugget.
what about tuna for meal prep? its really low fat and high protein, I'm just worried if it's going to last
Yeah just can be expensive and not sure well it would smell heating it up lol!
Damn we’ve got electric salt and pepper grinders now!
How long do they get in the microwave
Is there any abacus to using powdered mashed potatoes as opposed to real potatoes other than the ease of prep?
No I actually love the powdered potatoes👌
Under 5 mins I could dice those veggies on my own.

@@JoeySuggs You're awesome my guy! Keep up the great work🙏🏾
Just make regular rice in a rice cooker. So much better and also cheaper. Effortless too.
But meat loses a lot of weight when cooked, shouldn’t you weight that after cooked?
It only loses about 25% and keeps the same nutrients. For example, if you have 8 ounces of raw chicken, it will weigh around 5-6 ounces cooked, but the macros will be the same as when it was raw. Most people use the pre-cooked weight to calculate macros, but whatever you do, just stay consistent.

That’s a lot of plastic in the microwave :o
Im just not confortable on cooking everything in plastic bags

What do you use on your phone to count the calories in each food you prep ? 10:20

Mash potatoes from a box is a no no… highly processed food that has not much to do with potatoes. Why? Just make it yourself as well
Nice video except your broccoli wasn’t in a steamable bag. Not good
Why not just buy /cook regular rice, and a head of brocolli?
Probably alot healthier, you can season it yourself, and would be much cheaper
Poke broccoli bag😂
Publix is expensive
Why plastics
And the "plastic" I can't believe it's not butter!
Dang that used to be $20 instead of $44😢
Don't get me wrong but no oil there. That's gonna taste like wood.
Wow 👍👍👍👍
Appreciate ya🙌
Why not just follow the instructions on the mashed potatoes lol powder, add boil water, mix, done 😂
Like going rogue on it
My God the price for so little items!!! 😭😭😭😫😫
The hardest part about all of this is eating bland food with no sauce or seasoning. Looks so gross
