      depending on your program and school. usually the former. but always check first with the program coordinator whether you need to email professors in the department or not.

    Can one move with his family as a student on scholarship to study in the US? This has always been my concern. Please enlighten me. Thank you.

      yes. you can go with dependents. though its usually advisable to go first then bring in your family later to make your visa easier to get
