Bennet Springs State Park Clean Up Dive 2023

Diver's Oasis hosted a cleanout dive at Bennett Springs State Park. There were over 100 people there in attendants. With close to 30 divers in the water we were able to pull out thousands of yards of monofilament (fishing line). Along with the divers numerus volunteers walk the trails and river banks removing trash and other debris. (The) Hellbender is the main focus of the event. Hellbenders are large aquatic salamanders. They have a wide, flat head with tiny eyes and a broad and vertically compressed, rudderlike tail. The body and legs are covered with prominent folds of skin. Monofilament is a entanglement hazard for the Hellbender.
