What to Expect at the Crater of Diamonds State Park!!

  • A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of visiting the Crater of Diamonds State Park once again. It was mid December. From what I understand, their prices have changed since the new year, from $10 for an adult to dig for the day to $13.
    In this video I go over a few basics that I employ during my visits at the Crater, show a few types of rocks you can find, and get up close to what the heavier diamond indicator material looks like in the center of your flips.
    I hope that this video looks like help to you if you should decide to visit this unique Arkansas State park.
    Blessings!!
    -Joe

    The drainage pipe is just like a sluice with riffles.
    Battery powered wet vac will collect the heavies in the riffles.

    Blueschist facies
    Main article: blueschist facies
    The blueschist facies is at relatively low temperature but high pressure, such as occurs in rocks in a subduction zone. The facies is named after the schistose character of the rocks and the blue minerals glaucophane and lawsonite. The blueschist facies forms the following mineral assemblages:

    great video! I plan on coming here in March with some girlfriends! Do you recommend bringing a hand held diamond tester?

    • @joedadbod8450
      @joedadbod8450  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! Maybe I’ll see you out on the field! I’m planning on visiting in March as well, just not sure exactly when yet.
      They don’t allow any battery operated tools out there on the search/digging field, including flashlights and diamond testers. They allow phones though (which has a flashlight on it? - I don’t make the rules).
      Any specimen that you think may be a diamond, you can bring it to the diamond discovery area of the park and have them test it for you. You pass this area of the park going to the search field and leaving it.

      The microscope is a little 50 dollar one that hooks into your computer with a usb, it was recommended by the Arkansas Diamond Miner, Solomon.
      I got it off of Amazon here:

      1/4”, then I use a 20 stainless steel mesh underneath for my bottom screen.
