As a newer player, trying to balance the desire to lay low and wait for an opportunity (especially when a team is taking potshots but not aggressively pushing us) with the desire to just start the fight is tough to balance. I find that when both teams (and even potentially a third) are laying low and sneaking around it just stalemates into who gets a lucky pick first. Curious if you got advice for how to force an engage without getting picked so that you and your teammates can make meaningful rotates rather than just sitting still and hoping they walk into us unawares.
Love the style you have on it. It's simple, informative, its show and tell, it gives explanation on how you think and it shows of the profits of your decision making almost immediately. Stone cold killer shit, gives me a solid reference frame to think about when i'm in a tough spot Topics i would love would be: -analyzing sound and judging the distance with it -movement in medium-long range engagement (40-100)m -what to do when you are a 3-4 star and your twat mates are 5-6 star, and you just get absolutely slapped every round
Would be great to break down decision making in the fight more granularly "I think one is trying to revive so I push up" toward the end is perfect. I think new players and players not used to this kind of game struggle with the "why" to tactical decisions a lot so I think itd be really helpful
@@NorgmanG this! Especially because a lot gets lost due to video compression, sound quality when watching the vid on different devices, and plain not being the player yourself. Us veterans can learn a lot by this too anyway!
that used to be me man. I used to shoot my gun rarely, getting wrecked in every engagement. what really helped me was shotguns. it's a bit braindead of a play style but there's some nuance. most guns in the game are slow firing so get a spectre or the new slate, rush in there and jump like a madman to make them miss their first shot. hip fire don't ads and point the cross hair at their chest and start blasting. try and get out of sync with their shots, they shoot you jump around. then you stand still for a split second and aim careful and shoot while they chamber the next bullet. repeat. before you push think about how to get out if they catch you with a good shot. the game is about the dance and less about pure aim. you got this man!
I'd love to see a "Home School: How to Save Your Teammates", where you analyze your thought process in a clutch situation. I think that was my favorite part of this video! Emptying a downed player's weapon is something I haven't seen before! Maybe you could go in to more detail about when to rez, or figuring out if it's even safe to try! How do YOU calculate that risk vs. reward?
Is that THE BULLETPROOF BABIES? The one with the amazing Hunt: Showdown video live on his channel right now? #starstruck (also yes I like that suggestion)
I really like the 'Home School' format (in addition to your other content). I look forward to seeing more, because I find your way of showing and teaching us and talking us through is instructive and constructive. It's super helpful, and entertaining.
I feel like content like this is so needed in the Hunt Showdown community. I see a lot of videos about loadouts, how to kill bosses, etc. But it's really hard to find videos about thought process during the fights and tactics breakdown. I usually struggle a lot trying to understand where to position myself, how to think based on where I think the enemy is and I know this comes with time playing the game, but it's nice having a basis to go from.
The main thing I struggle with is how quickly to traverse the map, when to slow down and get quieter when you're approaching a compound that you know has players in it. Can they hear my running from here? What about my walking? Decisions like these outside of combat are my main struggle I think Definitely like this video, there are good pointers throughout that would be helpful to many players
You can be heard running from pretty far. You can hear someone sprinting from about 20 meters or so. Other things that make ALOT of noise are killing the bug ladies and the immolators. You can hear that from like a whole compound over. The other thing is, unless all bounty is being banished or your team is in trouble you don’t ever have to be traversing the map that fast. Take your time and be patient
Best thing you can do is memorize the distances sounds can be heard at, and then try to get a feel for what those distances look like in game. It happens over time for sure
@@Bullevue actually no. Sprinting can be heard from much further (like up to 80m if I remember correctly). Also killing AI isn't as loud as it sounds. Your melee attack will be heard further away than the sound the AI makes being killed. (Hives might be an exception to this--but I have not tested that specific instance)
This format is really great. Fight breakdown is really the best Hunt content in my opinion. Everytime a guy does that (psychoghost, neenho, rachtaz) it's when I'm the most interested. Different scale of breakdown might be interesting as well. Wide as in "which compound to go next ?" or "where to we set up the ambush" and small as in "when/where should I reload, or go for melee".
I like the format! If it's not too much to ask for the next one I would love to see a minimap/screenshots of the compound with your general ideas of where you suspected people to be at important times,
Cool video dude, I'm trying to get better at the game for a friend so watching these kind of helps me when I go to play a match and I'm not entirely confident on what I'm supposed to be doing lol
Looking forward to more of these! One other way you could fluff out this format is doing examples of multiple fights from different games where you applied a specific topic, instead of just one long fight from a game.
This was a great video. I like this format a lot too. This seems like a sensible addition to the channel given your thoughtful and analytical critique of the various weapons so far. Also the pistol headshot was crispy crunchy like a late autumn fallen leaf. 👏
@@HomeReel He didn't know you hadn't given up on him. And probably just didn't want to play with 1 bar. But he must have not known who Home is and didn't realize he always has a shot of winning when you're playing with Home!
@Not Turok I really don't. The whole point of this channel is to explore the less competitive loadouts for the sake of fun. I explain what I mean in the comment above
Knowing when and where to push or rotate to seems to be my biggest issue in hunt but I already learned several new things from this video. Great idea for a series and I look forward to more!
My character keep bouncing between 3 and 4 star while I steadily play at 3 star matchmaking. Your video is helpful, sometimes I realize my mistakes (some really stupid decisions) only when I’m dead. Hunt gives me that tension/greed for gunfights that I get sometimes too confident (or not enough) and I get killed. This game is a rollercoaster of emotions.
Pretty solid considering this is your first video with this format. It did feel a little janky but that might go away as you get more comfortable doing these. As for the gameplay it seemed solid overall and your advice was good. I do have a nitpick though; at 5:18 you threw that hive without any intel someone was down there and there was no reason to throw the sticky on top of it.
Very didactic video. Super useful for a novice like me. Most vids I see are from players with aimbot like aim. You on the other hand seem to win though smart tactics and use of environment. Thanks!
Great video as always! As for video suggestions, I am thinking about something more specific. Sniper work at desalle town. Or any loadout defending the new Madonna Noir basement. Something like that.
This actually kinda reminds me of one friend of mine who always say "Oh my god how did you pull that off" I literally have no aim and at 5 stars consistently because I analyse situations like this. Sometimes it won't work but it works most of the times that my friend actually ask me to back seat him if I die lmaooo (yes he is the one with aim) Yesterday I just tell him "Bring up the sword in your hand!" He didn't believe in the blade but in that situation he clutches it with my guidance - he brought the Skin for it now.
How to break into compounds when they are camping with shotguns. I have 1k plus hours in this game and still struggle to do this. I know the whole consumables thing, but sometimes they build it up like fort Knox and I have only 2 hand crossbows to get through. Don't berate me about my loadout choices please, I'm aware.
I love how he credits waiting for the right moment to get his kills not skills or aim but I wouldn't have been able to react as a fast as he did when he did, I would have missed that final headshot but that wouldn't have mattered because I never would have spotted the guy that he headshot. You have good tactics, sure, but your skills and aim got you those kills where I using the exact same tactics would not gave gotten them.
Hey @HomeReel, what do you think of the Level Of Detail Management System in Hunt? I really think they should leave out some of those models and opt for a little less detail, if it affects performance that much, but instead have less pop in and model changes throughout the game. Also there is a constant shadow map drawing close by the player, which is also distracting for my opinion. Are you bothered by these kinds of things? These kinds of details really hurt the immersive experience of Hunt for me in the long run.
I always felt like i should be in 4 star lobby, but im always just jumping between 5-6 and its not fun, u usually get headshoted before i can do something, i feel like dont belong here but somehow i never dropped below 5 stars, idk im stuck xd
I dont know about you but me abd my friend are both 3 stars and half of thr players in our lobbies are 4 starts and almost never 2 and i ususlly end up having my head blown off from long range.
Just curious, what's the benefit of lowering your gun mid-gunfight? I understand the benefits when you're trying to be sneaky, but otherwise I am ignorant.
I don't know if you'll see this comment, but any advice on people that keep bouncing between 3, 4 and 5 stars? some weeks I go ham and MMR skyrockets, and other times it sinks deeper than my will to live after I see the 3 stars on my MMR rating
Without seeing you play, I can't say too much specifically. But I can say sometimes I feel an MMR fall coming and I have remind myself to be patient. Don't rush into a gunfight trying to speed up the MMR climb. Don't skip the usual tactical due diligence so you can find a silhouette to shoot at. Just remind yourself to relax, take your time for shots if you have time, and let your teammates soak up the extra bullets lol. I won't say "don't chase being 5 stars" if you want to be 5 stars. No shame in wanting that. But sometimes the pressure of wanting can lead to the pressure of losing. Know what I mean?
@@HomeReel I mostly play like an idiot just for the fun of it. I think the biggest reason I lose fights is because I didn't see a rat hiding in a bush, or because my ping is constantly spiking. The first one is possible to prevent, the second one isn't (yes it happens that much). I could slow down, but that sounds kinda boring lol Still, thanks for the advice
Already got some idea to improve this format but gimme your topic ideas below! What are you struggling with when playing Hunt?

When to go into a building maybe? Or like, when to disengage from a fight vs pressing forward
