- Following-on from PARD SA45LRF Thermal scope pt.1 ( • PARD SA45LRF Thermal s... ), here’s the concluding part, including observing paddock life out to 200m+.
I also check/compare the LRF distances out to 175m against my own Pard 008LRF - all tie-in nicely.
Unfortunately the horses were camera shy this evening, but an anonymous stable customer handily walked across the paddock in front of me. This nicely shows the thermal graduations the SA45 picks-up, albeit (in my experience) not quite as good a differentiation as the SAIM SCL35 & SCT35 would pick-up.
I would say however the bonus of having an onscreen LRF readout is invaluable, especially for air rifles (yes, even FAC) and especially at night when range estimation is notoriously difficult.
Then I included some of Bruce’s man-cave-recorded footage (as he was getting to grips with the menus and functions), plus some footage of Deer on one of his Permissions -recorded out to 350+yards.
Once again thanks very much to Bruce (@Phoenix on the UK NV forum and ThermalHuntingForum, @mealiejimmie on the airgun forum) -for all his time, expertise, hard work and insights.

Re 'black hot' vs 'white hot', for spotting across fields I have my Axion XM30 set to 'black hot', this is really good for picking up rabbits, but some other situations and it's not so good, an example would be looking up into a large tree. if you see patches of the trunk through foliage this looks little different to a pigeon, then 'white hot' or some of the other options work better.
Thanks Fred, yep surprising to me, as I'd assumed White Hot would simply be a negative of Black Hot, but this is evidently not the case. Definitely worth everyone (using thermal) experimenting with their own devices, inc' in different settings -and not just going with their preferences.
Cheers. Russ
Здравствуйте, Рассел можете ли Вы выслать схему кабеля для тепловизора pard.
Se puede grabar videos con el pard sa45 ???
bom dia. qual a variação de ajuste do reticulo, quando vc faz 1 click de ajuste?
I have the PARD SA35, an awesome scope, do you know if it is possible to open the front section up, because it looks like there is a hair or spec on the inside of the lens.
Hmm I doubt removing the Germanium objective lens to clean inside is possible at home, I'd contact your retailer and send the scope back to them or the distributor for a service.
Good luck, cheers. Russ
Hi could please tell me which scope is better pard sa45 lrf or Hikmicro panther pro pq50 lrf
Ah now I would love to try them both side-by-side to determine any pros and cons, if I win the lottery that's what I'd do -buy them all and compare their functions and performance, then share it honestly and thoroughly with you all.
Here's hoping. 🤞🤓
But back to your question I'd also hope the latest designs of Pard thermals (that resemble the 008s-LRF) now include ballistic calculator firmware.
Both are compact and run on 18650 batteries, so that would be a fascinating comparison.
Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
Это серия прицелов SU, SA - другие.
Russ whe you do review with iray cl42 ?
That I don't know Adam, but we've just reviewed the SCT35 and XHolo 13 (videos coming soon), and would definitely love to review more new gear. 🤞
Cheers. Russ
Russel. Whish cable/plug do I need for the sa 45?
Greetings from Holland
Hi Pim, ah that's an unusual one, it's an automation connector:
That info's from Bruce, who wired the cable between one of those and a 2.5mm TRRS jack plug to fit my Yukon MPR recorder.
Drop me an email on RussDouglas222@gmail.com and I'll send you Bruce's wee wiring diagram and the plug ID.
Cheers. Russ
Pim You still haven't emailed me so I can't send you the wee wiring sketch, but the Pard comms connector is this: www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/167-08RAM05BCL010PVC
Cheers. Russ
Hello sir do you have an automatic ballistic for distance? For example, at a distance of 50 meters, zero at different distances (100 meters, 150 ....) automatically calculates the distance or we have to use the data
Hi Parsa, no this scope didn't include a ballistic calculator when reviewed, but I hear the new Pard008LRF-S has both an updated sensor and a ballistic calculator.
So it could well be that in future Pard LRF-equipped scopes could either receive similar firmware updates, or updated models will include this feature.
We're hoping this new 008LRF-S scope will be unveiled at the British Shooting Show next weekend.
Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
Wonder wats if like in fog.. We no the pard nite site. Struggling in fog...
Yep Robert almost all Thermal struggles/dies in cold wet fog, the only exception I know-of is when using "Ultraclear Mode" on the SAIM SCL35 (and presumably the SCT35), but recently when we reviewed the latter (and the SA45LRF) the weather wasn't obliging. 🤷🏻♂️
Cheers. Russ
Hello friend, that loos so great! may i know are you interested in our latest TR20 series thermal rifle scope? regards

Very comparable to the atn thor 4 684
Cool ...but (after some UK googling) it looks like the roughly equivalent spec ATN Thor 4 thermal scope (the 2.5x-25x) is roughly £1k more expensive, and doesn't double as a very handy spotter, as the TQ50C does?
While reviewing/recording with Bruce yesterday we discovered you can dismount the three-mode TQ50C from a rifle action, then (after swapping the eyepiece for the adapter) fit it to a day-scope as a front-end thermal add-on, even still with the Picatinny rail fitted.
