    What an awesome video. I broke my ankle on 11/04/2018 and am recovering now. My surgery was 11/15/2018. At point 1:29...this is exactly what my doctor told me I broke and that I would need a metal plate and two screws. I am still in minimal pain, thanks to Norco 10. I go back tomorrow for my two week follow-up. I have a splint on now, but hoping I am given an aircast tomorrow. Wish me luck!

    Dear Dr. Ebraheim, I’ve never given you credit where credit is due. I thank you so much for saving my foot and the repair you did for me as a teenager. I’m almost 40 now and I still lift weights, run, yoga, Peloton Cycle, swim and live a drug and smoke free life. However, my age is catching up with me and this ankle fusion and old injury is aging too. I made an appointment with you a while ago and cancelled out of fear. I have days where my ankle swells back to the size of the old injury and the pain can be unbearable but I keep going. I also experience extreme “popping” in the middle of the ankle that is so painful it brings me to my knees but I keep going. Not sure what to do or if anything. I guess time will tell.

    You know what I broke my Talus, and my Fabula both at the same time-apperently. I say apperntly because I managed to do this double break with out feeling a thing. How I found out is I tripped over a curb and it wasn't healing. X-ray later, I was told the bones had already well healed, though not set straight you can actually see where my Talus is defected. Only time it was sore was after driving 2,000+ mi. Only time I could see breaking it is when I 250 tipped over on me, but my anke didnt hurt

    I broke my ankle 6 weeks ago....the last demonstration is basically everything I damaged and how it was repaired (Trimalleolar fracture with Syndesmotic injury), only difference is I have 2 screws for the Syndesmotic injury and they will be removed within a couple of months. From fracturing my ankle until surgery took 2 weeks, as my foot and ankle were so swollen....I ended up bruised from my toes to almost my knee.

    • @Pete856
      @Pete856 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Angie, I think it depends on where you live as to if they remove the screw/s or not. Because I was always going to get the screws removed, they put 2 in. Where as, I was told if I lived in the USA I'd probably only get 1 as they would rather it breaks than spend the time and effort to remove it.....once it breaks there's no removing it.
      As for how it felt, at first the inside of my ankle hurt more than the outside (I think this is because the screw has groves in the tip and the bone heals into them, so a little bit of bone breaks away). I had a small incision on the outer side but it healed quickly. After a couple of weeks everything felt as good as before the screws were removed, so no, it didn't feel like it was broken all over again.

    Very educational video, I have had a left ankle ORIF, (10 screws in total including a very large one holding everything in place) due to a severely dislocated ankle and broken fibula, I have had my stitches out and cast on for 6 weeks today and due to get cast off in 7 days time. How much longer would you imagine I will be in a moon boot for before I am able to walk freely with out the support of the moon boot. I am 20 years old and very fit.

    i sprained/fractured my ankle on January 1st playing basketball. It has not healed yet. I was not put in a cast, only given a walking boot and my doctor did not mention surgery. Is surgery necessary to fix a fractured ankle?

      Were you able to see your own Xray Results? Why do Doctors or Nurses talk about you but, dont want to show you, about your body?🤔🧐

    I broken my ankle September 2020 I had 5 surgeries. Just have my last one March 2022, I’m Telling you I went to hell the worst two years of my life. As today I’m just starting physical therapy and just receive my bone stimulator machine. And just learning how to walk all over again and to drive.

      I’m so sorry for that. Wishing you a quick recovery. I broke all the 3 bones of my ankle 5 weeks ago and had my surgery 3 weeks ago. Just hanging in here to see how my recovery goes!

    Is there any way to go around the surgery part? Maybe no surgery just cast for an extended period of time???

    for the fixation of syndesmosis, which kind of screw is better: lag screw or full threaded screw

  • @dorcasia109
    @dorcasia109 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a similar hardware except no syndesmosis injury even though I had dislocated it. I broke all three places you see in the video as well as the talus was broken in two. There was a small screw for that too. In all, a plate and 8 screws. My fibula was broken almost at my knee, all the way down to the ankle where it was also broken and separated. Don’t expect things to be mostly normal for at least 1 year.
