Damn, that's some crazy attention to detail by Togashi. HxH would likely be seen as one of the best animes of all time if he would stop with the hiatuses 🤦♂️
@@comeatmebro8120 Yeah man, Togashi really did so many small details like this throughout the series, I love how well this series had depraved faces especially making you feel disgusted as you should be and sometimes creeped out....
This fight goes beyond power. It is a display of pure, raw emotion- the peak of Gon’s negative arc, the peak of Pitou’s positive arc. A fight of sadness, anger, grief, honesty, loyalty. Thank you for recognizing that. Beautiful reaction!
Hear me out guys, when Gon said "Kite, i just finished the job you told me to do".. was the fact he told him to destroy the chimera ant head. Also Hisoka will die of pleasure if he saw Gon there =)
@@wen771127 i hear this all the time but the fact is that even with his anger empowering him, gon wouldve been an easy kill for pituo, so his options were fight and definitely die or sacrifice his nen for instant power and maybe die
@@yimpyoi9808 he could choose to not to fight pitou alone, or maybe use other tactic to stall. Remember their mission was to separate the royal guards from meruem. His mission was accomplished when pitou stayed behind to heal komugi. Nobody asked him to fight pitou but himself.
6:3616:08 It's interesting that the you saw the "Gon's power is equal to the King" translation and the screen showed the "Gon's fangs reaching the King" version. It's actually another line with a symbolic double meaning in the Japanese manga that basically translates to Gon's "fangs/abilities have reached the King" where the Kanji is written as "abilities" (i.e. power) and the furigana is written as "fangs." I think the "fangs" are supposed to convey that Gon has a beast inside of him, just like the King seems to have some humanity. Anyways, Gon is only as strong as the King before he is revived by Pout and Youpi after which he appears even stronger with his new powers.
the correct line is the "fangs" one, because Pitou first say "I was right" refering to her previous thoughts about "Gon's fangs could reach the King's throat" .... She never thougt him beeen equal to the King
One of my favourite lines is Gon saying he finished his job like Kite told him to do. Because Kite teached Gon and Killua in the beginning of this arc that they need to destroy the head of an ant or it will come back. That´s why Gon is going for Pitous head. HxH started of like a normal shounen but definitely goes heavily into seinen territory now. Especially with the current mangaarc. Also sidenote: Pitou standing up again despite not having a head is not her still being alive. It´s called post-mortem nen, something you can see a few other examples of in the manga. It activates after death if a emotion is strong enough (can be different kind of emotions) or you already prepared for your death and put a condition on yourself that something specific is going to happen, should you die. (SPOILER: Hisoka and Camilla using post mortem nen in the manga)
i was not a young boy when i started reading, and HxH was still dark for me from the start. the manga was brutal from the beginning, the drawing of the head being cut off by Hisoka in the Hunter exam... it was horror, gore territory..... and the emotional and psychological horror, trauma of the CA arc is austere, brutal, cruel and severe, for all ages, even 80.... i was so devastated for so long after the CA arc...
My interpretation of Gon's Transformation is that he used all of the aura he will ever have in his life in the span of a few minutes. Aura is basically one's life energy so he used up his next 100 something years of life energy in a single short moment. I personally don't think he would've been as powerful as an adult as he was against pitou
well, he says "I dont care if is the end, so I'll use everything" that says it all. then Killua says "this is what would happen if He would have trained for decades" like Netero kind of dedication, all his potential, the best version of Gon that could exist.
I fully believe that, even if Gon had the opportunity to fight with the king, before his re-birth, Gon would most likely still lose to the Meruem. I think that the Meruem’s strategic mind would outmatch Gon’s power. Even if their powers were the same. I believe it’s important to remember what Bisque and Morel have stated about a fight between Nen users not being as simple as ‘If A is stronger than B, then A has to win’.
I think Gon would have a fair shot, Meruem has had no fighting experience up until that point cause all he had to do to opponents at that point was flick a finger and they die. If Gon can hurt/kill him before he can strategises that is
Everything Meruem had was raw aura and power with durability, he didnt have any special ability, and gon is basically the same except gon having near useless ability against meruem (i mean rock paper scissors) so i dont think morels quote applies here... Gon obliterated pitou without any effort so he has a fair chance against meruem
@@shirokush1327they were tears of sadness and emptiness. let’s say a guy lived a happy life with just his mom. if someone killed his mom and became like gon, he would be filled with extreme rage and lust for revenge to kill that person. he could spend days, weeks or months only thinking about how to kill that person fueled by nothing but rage. finally, he corners the person and kills them. what happens after?. he’s spent all that time constantly fixated only on getting revenge and now that it’s done, the true reality of his emotions kick in. he’s extremely empty and sad inside. he would also probably begin to cry like gon, not necessarily because he regrets it but because this is how he really feels deep down.
Craziest part about this is might not even be his full power. Pitou stated that he forced his body to mature to a point where he would beat her, not that he made himself as strong as possible. Also he is still using his basic Jajanken, not other techniques he would learned in the future. An actual adult Gon would be insane
6:51 "When you stare into the Abyss, the Abyss stares back at you" The Chimera Arc is about a Beast that becomes a Man, and a Boy who becomes a Beast...
Props to the editor whoever he/she is... The change on the hue and contrast as Gon was going darker and darker... Very smooth transition... At some point I was like "wait... What's happening?!" 🤣🤣 Always great reations, emotions with Stephanie and the omega hype train with Brian 😭🤣🤣
That's a bad translation. Pitou only said his fang/ power would reach the King, which doesn't mean they are equally strong. He could probably hurt the King, but couldn't beat the king.
The anime doesn't really make it clear what happened, it's one of these instances where the author just assumes that you paid attention and can figure it out yourself: Basically what happened here was a vow and restriction, like Kurapika and his chains. Basically, you promise to give something up to get a boost in power. Kurapika gave up that he could use the chains against anyone, but in return, they became super strong against the people he can still use them against. Gons case was more severe, and because of that his power boost was greater. He literally says it when he grows, "I don't care, so i'll use everything". Vows and restrictions are like bartering with nen. "This is what i'm willing to give, what can i get for that?". Gon did the opposite "This is what i need(enough power to kill Pitou), take what you want for that". He gave Nen a blanko checkue to take whatever it wants in return for a boost to his power. And him being an enhancer, his new power was enhancing his own body to the best it could ever be. This was Gon at his prime if he had never stopped training, like Netero-levels of dedication and endless training. Then, during his apex, this would have been his power level. We already knew that Gon had probably the most potential out of any hunter we know, and the show told us that repeatedly. So this would have been the result. That also explains why people don't commonly do this. For one, the price to pay is terrible and unpredictable, for the other, this just released all of Gons potential, he COULD have achived this by normal training, just not as fast. Someone with less potential or someone already using all their potential would have had much less of a boost. Like Knuckle probably would have barely changed since he's already in his prime and already very well trained. He would have probably gotten stronger but nowhere near this much. But yeah, basically, Gon did the same thing as Kurapika, just turned up to 11. Also what happened to Pitou after her death is exactly why the Phantom Troupe said they left Kurapika alive. They said that vengeful nen can persist after death, and haunt the target of these emotions. Pitous fear that Gon could beat the king(since she didn't know how much he powered up from absorbing Poufs and Youpis powers, her "His power is now equal to the king" refers to Pre-Rose Meruem), stayed around and kept trying to kill Gon to protect the king. This is what the troupe feared would have happened if they had killed Kurapika with his monstrous hate for the Troupe. And with Chrollo in zetsu, he wouldn't have been able to fight that.
I personally think is very clear what happened, i dont understand when people have problems getting it. Gon literally says what he is going to do and what he is going to sacrifice. Then Killua confirms what he did. Is very well explained. Still, Thanks for explaining it for others
@@luzobsidiana you'd be surprised. Some people genuinely think he just got that power out of nowhere which is just absurd like all it takes to understand what happened is to watch the show
@@agl4044 I agree! After watching all these reactions I’m shocked they think it’s some cliche anime powerup from nowhere but no there’s a clear explanation from the get go! 🙄😭😭
I believe pitou used what was called post mortem nen which allows the corpse to continue using nen and “stay alive” even when brain dead. This activates when the person feels an intense emotion shortly before death and after they die the corpse will stay”alive” and execute their last order or “live”accordingly ( I think correct me if I’m wrong). In this case , pitou string sense of loyalty to the king was what kept him/her “alive” even getting head smashed off. Since gon was a threat to the king ,pitou’s hatsu ability which was Terpsichora activated and attacked gon. I actually like this bit of pitou, she/he is really selfless and loyal when it comes to the king.
Yes, post-mortem nen is your life's energy executing your last wish/feeling. Kurapika post mortem would be (kill Chrollo) thats what the Genei Ryodan thought. Pitou's is "kill this threat to protect the king". And if you want an spoiler of the manga I can give you another example.
I always thought it was just because pitou's puppeteer ability took control of her since nen is stronger after death. I can see how what you said would put purpose behind it
I love how this flips the trope of the protagonist powering up on its head. In a regular show like DBZ or whatever, the main character powering up to kill a tough villain is hype and hopeful. But here, it is incredibly sad and unnerving. The sweet innocent little boy we knew truly shows his lack of emotional stability through this arc, devolving in his anger to the point where he was willing to literally kill himself to ensure Pitou dies today. He never had this power "all along", that's not how Nen works. Anyone could make this condition with Nen if they wanted to, but no one is crazy enough to allow Nen to kill their bodies in exchange for power - no one except Gon.
The infamous "his power is now equl to that of the King" line than only the english subs got. The correct one is "I was right, his fang can now reach The King's troath" just like Pitou thought in episode 117 while healing Komugi
This episode was awesome and sad at the same time. Gon was so sad and angry he didn’t care anymore. Killua seeing his friend like that and him yelling out Gon’s name right at the end always makes me teary eyed 😢
Every kid that saw something terrible happen to someone they love when they were little said it at least once. " When I grow up, im gonna kill you..." He literally grew up...
Nen can grow, amplify and evolve 10 of times stronger after death it’s called post mortem-nen. So Pitous puppet control evolved and activated after her/his death to carry out Pitous last instincts, to kill Gon to protect the king. This is a little head cannon cause it hasn’t been stated, but when you learn about the abilities of post mortem-nen later in the manga that makes the most sense. Cause Pitou was dead, but until dying probably still had the puppet control activated. So it tried to carry out the last thoughts of Pitou.
About Netero, He was actually stronger in his 40-50's than in his Prime. Because in his physical prime he was just a martial artist and did not know nen.
Gohan was going through the 5 stages of grief from the moment they left Kite. Denial: “We’ll save Kite” after knowing How strong Pitou was Anger: Gon shows his peak of anger when he meets Pitou Bargaining: He makes the deal to let Pitou heal Komugi in trade of Kite back Depression: The internal turmoil before the fight Acceptance: His transformation
if you remember well in an episode kurapika explains to gon the power of mediation, which in his case made it like saying superficacie about the fantasy brigade, what happened to gon could be a consequence of the curse because gon had asked kurapika how it worked, my theory
man, I barely hold my tears, sadness, anger, frustration, the feeling of can't do anything pouring from my phone screen into my face like a garden hose.
The subtitle was wrong pitou didnt said that his power equal to the king...she said his fings can reach the king..beside that she didnt see the king power at all
Its so funny hxh gains more popularity despite the fact its on hiatus Chimera ant arc is one of the best arcs in shounen history The build up plus the emotion Peak
Glorious episode/music ost for Gon's transformation scene and as he broke down, this fight was just a massacre all around willing to sacrifice his life force never using nen again for the sake of revenge shows the contrast between Gon completely falling into darkness and Meruem becoming more human masterful writing by the author
kite teach them that if you need to kill the ant you need to crush the head thats why gon keep on crushing pitous head but pitou use his nen becoming a puppet even when it dies automatically activated her power to be accomplished...
No matter what strong foes you face. No matter what power, rank, money. Always. Always.. be careful To a person. Who has nothing.... To lose. Trying to win.
First of all, loved the reaction guys! Been waiting for this moment for so long. Just want to clarify some things. Gon was only able to obtain such immense power because of his hatred towards Pitou. As he himself said, he was ready to sacrifice everything. He exchanged all of his talent and potential for the sole purpose of killing Pitou. There was also a mistranslation in the anime. In the manga Pitou said "His fangs might even reach the King" and not "He is as strong as the King". The king would still whoop his ass lol, but I think the series has made it clear enough that Gon had 0 interest in fighting the king. He is a very egocentric person. His only goal was to kill Pitou, nothing else mattered to him, so he never would've even considered to go after the king. Hope this helped you to understand this 11/10 scene a bit better :) Have a nice day guys!
You are right they had so much potential Gon and Killua just like the show if it continued. But i can't blame the creator Yoshihiro Togashi. He literally like Gon sacrifice to never use nen again. In the same way the author had to sacrifice his health when he created hunter x hunter manga. Thats the reason the show didn't continued. Even the managa i heard recently that Togashi came with 5 diferent endings for the manga just in case he would die. He wanted to let something behind and not the unfinished job. I admire his resolve and dedication. He is also the same one that created the old and very good anime Yu yu Hakusho. Maybe you would react to that in the future. Also i dont know if u gonna read this comment but i wanted to point the change in characters and the mastermind desing. The king started as a ruthless and merciless monster but with him advancing in the show he becomes more human while Gon starting innocent and kindhearted becomes more like a monster in the end. I like this type of change that u don't see in manny anime. Showing the good and bad are the 2 sides of the same coin and that can change any time. Is a well writen story based on the 2 sides of the author. There is a video that explains Gon change making it like the author who started young and innocent in the world of manga artists but change with the passage of time. Although I can't explain that good as that video that's a most basic and simple way to put it. I am like Youpi and some things are beyond my capacity but i dont run from that i admit it.

@@comeatmebro8120 Regardless of the hiatus it's still seen as one of the greatest.
@@comeatmebro8120 it's already considered one of the goats

This fight goes beyond power. It is a display of pure, raw emotion- the peak of Gon’s negative arc, the peak of Pitou’s positive arc. A fight of sadness, anger, grief, honesty, loyalty. Thank you for recognizing that. Beautiful reaction!
Gon said while the transformation he will use everything. That means he used all the Aura (Aura = Life Energy) he would ever have.
One of the greatest anime episode in history
Togashi is a God.
Hear me out guys, when Gon said "Kite, i just finished the job you told me to do".. was the fact he told him to destroy the chimera ant head.
Also Hisoka will die of pleasure if he saw Gon there =)
nah, I think Hisoka would be disappointed, since Gon literally throw his talent away. A waste of potential.
6:36 16:08 It's interesting that the you saw the "Gon's power is equal to the King" translation and the screen showed the "Gon's fangs reaching the King" version. Anyways, Gon is only as strong as the King before he is revived by Pout and Youpi after which he appears even stronger with his new powers.
didnt they do the opposite back when pitou made it up in her head that she has to kill him otherwise his fangs may reach the kings throat
I think it’s just the translators did a bad job there
the correct line is the "fangs" one, because Pitou first say "I was right" refering to her previous thoughts about "Gon's fangs could reach the King's throat" .... She never thougt him beeen equal to the King
The translations/subtitles on the site they were watching this were soooo bad its insane 🤣
(SPOILER: Hisoka and Camilla using post mortem nen in the manga)
i was not a young boy when i started reading, and HxH was still dark for me from the start. the manga was brutal from the beginning, the drawing of the head being cut off by Hisoka in the Hunter exam... it was horror, gore territory..... and the emotional and psychological horror, trauma of the CA arc is austere, brutal, cruel and severe, for all ages, even 80.... i was so devastated for so long after the CA arc...
everyone’s first reaction to this episode is always legendary lmaoo
My interpretation of Gon's Transformation is that he used all of the aura he will ever have in his life in the span of a few minutes. Aura is basically one's life energy so he used up his next 100 something years of life energy in a single short moment. I personally don't think he would've been as powerful as an adult as he was against pitou
the trade he made was like [ make me as strong as i will ever reach : take whatever you want ] basically letting nen choose the sacrafice
well, he says "I dont care if is the end, so I'll use everything" that says it all. then Killua says "this is what would happen if He would have trained for decades" like Netero kind of dedication, all his potential, the best version of Gon that could exist.
@@luzobsidiana That just what Killua thought. Gon iterally said he would use everything.
Gon has a lot of men but what he did was use growth hormone because he is an enhancer
If Gon can hurt/kill him before he can strategises that is
Gon doesn't have the body like chimera ants
Everything Meruem had was raw aura and power with durability, he didnt have any special ability, and gon is basically the same except gon having near useless ability against meruem (i mean rock paper scissors) so i dont think morels quote applies here... Gon obliterated pitou without any effort so he has a fair chance against meruem
Best episode of any anime series ever imho
No lies detected
kurapika gives you some good advice
Gon: Ignore him
So, remember how wholesome this anime was at the beginning? 😂😂
No matter how many times i watch this episode always make me cry !!!
When killua calls for gon to stop his jajanken is soo heartbreaking !!!! 😭
The tears of Gon at the end were tears of regret. He regretted his selfishness. Huge character development in that one scene.
No, they were not.
@@VSMF then what were they?
The most awaited reaction !!
The arc is not over. So much more to see and feel
Craziest part about this is might not even be his full power. Pitou stated that he forced his body to mature to a point where he would beat her, not that he made himself as strong as possible. Also he is still using his basic Jajanken, not other techniques he would learned in the future. An actual adult Gon would be insane
No. This as much aura as he can have
"Like you taught me" Gon was referring to Kite's teaching that you must destroy an ant's head.
This reaction was so good 😭😂 exactly how I reacted while watching the episode
Mereum became more human where as netero, gon and gyro became more like the ants.
Seeing how mad and sad the fun light hearted gon got made me cry when I first saw this
This ep should be the definition of peak fiction
Absolutely EPIC!
6:51 "When you stare into the Abyss, the Abyss stares back at you"
The Chimera Arc is about a Beast that becomes a Man, and a Boy who becomes a Beast...
Kite: "Gon, when fighting Chimera Ants, always aim for the head"
Gon: "I made sure to finish him. Like you taught me"
:(
Loving you guys reaction as always, Killua is so worried about Gon he needs to be protected... more awesome episodes to come!
Props to the editor whoever he/she is... The change on the hue and contrast as Gon was going darker and darker... Very smooth transition... At some point I was like "wait... What's happening?!" 🤣🤣
Always great reations, emotions with Stephanie and the omega hype train with Brian 😭🤣🤣
The king still stronger than gon
Pito said gon is equal not stronger
But the king is get pawerup
That's a bad translation. Pitou only said his fang/ power would reach the King, which doesn't mean they are equally strong. He could probably hurt the King, but couldn't beat the king.
Best reaction to this episode!!
the contract was "i dont care if this is the end"
"this is gon secret power" im laughing
I’ve been waiting for this ever since I found out y’all were reacting to this show 😭😭😭😂
Great reaction! This is one of my all time favorite episodes! I think I was looking forward to this reaction from the very beginning!
The anime doesn't really make it clear what happened, it's one of these instances where the author just assumes that you paid attention and can figure it out yourself:
Basically what happened here was a vow and restriction, like Kurapika and his chains.
All the loyal gaurds are completely loyal to mereum, just in different ways
If Pitou killed Killua right here I don't think I would've ever rerecovered
pitou: play rock, paper, scissors they said. it'll be fun they said.
The infamous "his power is now equl to that of the King" line than only the english subs got.
The correct one is "I was right, his fang can now reach The King's troath" just like Pitou thought in episode 117 while healing Komugi
Yes yes yes. My favorite episode. Masterpiece
7:29 “where he at”
Had me dying😂
This episode was awesome and sad at the same time. Gon was so sad and angry he didn’t care anymore. Killua seeing his friend like that and him yelling out Gon’s name right at the end always makes me teary eyed 😢
“LIAR” has never had such an impact
Every kid that saw something terrible happen to someone they love when they were little said it at least once. " When I grow up, im gonna kill you..." He literally grew up...
1:15 gon needs to go all out or else he's gonna die
Gon:are you sure about that
Because the revenge he turned into a monster
you guys seeing your excitement breaks my heart
Killua : GONNNN
Gon : what now 💀... I'm busy taking revenge...
The moment we’ve all been waiting for
Nen can grow, amplify and evolve 10 of times stronger after death it’s called post mortem-nen.
We all came here ever since for this moment.
Love you guys!! 🥰
WOOOOOOOO BABYYYYY! THATS WHAT WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR! THATS WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT!!
And it only gets more chaotic from here
When gon gave up on finding daddy and became daddy
About Netero,
He was actually stronger in his 40-50's than in his Prime. Because in his physical prime he was just a martial artist and did not know nen.
Trueee
This is one of the best examples of Hunter x Hunter doing what it does best: taking an expected climax in a completely unexpected direction.
My brain the whole time while watching this: "How tf did we go from daichi wa fumishimete to THIS?"
Gohan was going through the 5 stages of grief from the moment they left Kite.
Denial: “We’ll save Kite” after knowing How strong Pitou was
Anger: Gon shows his peak of anger when he meets Pitou
Bargaining: He makes the deal to let Pitou heal Komugi in trade of Kite back
Depression: The internal turmoil before the fight
Acceptance: His transformation
Dodge! " piccolo"
if you remember well in an episode kurapika explains to gon the power of mediation, which in his case made it like saying superficacie about the fantasy brigade, what happened to gon could be a consequence of the curse because gon had asked kurapika how it worked, my theory
man, I barely hold my tears, sadness, anger, frustration, the feeling of can't do anything pouring from my phone screen into my face like a garden hose.
Such an emotional fight scene
Every true hunterxhunter fan watches all the reactions to 131 lol.
even the tiny ants of the beginning of the arc were able to attack killua without a head so it's a piece of cake for a royal guard
this is also the first time we can hear killua step
The subtitle was wrong pitou didnt said that his power equal to the king...she said his fings can reach the king..beside that she didnt see the king power at all
The main show is Gon and Mereum, they just switch their personalities. Gon go for merciless while king being more like human.

Glorious episode/music ost for Gon's transformation scene and as he broke down, this fight was just a massacre all around willing to sacrifice his life force never using nen again for the sake of revenge shows the contrast between Gon completely falling into darkness and Meruem becoming more human masterful writing by the author
I was waiting for ur reaction for this episode for so long, ofcourse there is some more episodes in the future which are op
This episode was the best Gon Rage ever
Rip Killua and Gon
I just woke up and immediately seeing this is like having a good breakfast for me😂
kite teach them that if you need to kill the ant you need to crush the head thats why gon keep on crushing pitous head but pitou use his nen becoming a puppet even when it dies automatically activated her power to be accomplished...
Kilua still on full speed active 😂🤣 don't worry
I am so engaged whenever you do reacts. hehe. i love you both.
"Let's get to it!"
20:45 Well, Gon also released a nuclear bomb with a "zero hand" lol
Also, Pitou is comparing Gon the "pre-evolution" version of Meruem.
It said his fangs might sink into the king basically the author was trying to say gon was stronger than the king
Yes finally I literally just got home and hoped for this to come

No matter what power, rank, money.
Always. Always.. be careful

Love that Hisoka tie dye shirt ❤️
Folks, this is the reason why you should never hurt a kid's family/friends in front of their eyes. They will hold a grudge...💀
You did a great job with the editing or whoever doesit
This is why Killua shouldn't hold Gon Revenge and Hate back 👀👀
First of all, loved the reaction guys!
Well, if Gon Fang can reach King then His power definitely close to the pre-nuke King
I am like Youpi and some things are beyond my capacity but i dont run from that i admit it.
the peak of anime
We watched and waited for this episode to come

this is the EP that i've BEEN WAITING FOR then there's the last ep when Gon get's saved there reaction is going to be insane
