This is my video tutorial on how to make your report's numbers start from a specific page from number 1 in Microsoft Word 2013.

When i delete the the previous numbers, the rest of the numbers disappear too.
Select the footer in a page where you want the page number to stay. Under design tab -> Navigation section -> unselect "link to previous". Should work now

when I want to get rid off first 2 page numbers, whenever I press delete - all page numbers disappear, even those form the different section. Where is the problem?

What i mean is, i want to remove the page numbering on the chapter just after my bibliography but what i achieved myself till now its to remove numbering but causing a mess to my table of contents. I hope you understand my question.

when I click on page break a whole blank page is inserted
+James Nowlan dont click on the next page break..its due to that u get a blank page in between. rather click on the continuous page break

you need to click on the page you want to start at 1.
It means you didn't go into the page break tab and click on next page
hmm when i click Next Page it inserts new blank page ...

+Byunnie Baek insert the page break with your cursor at the last page of the first section. For example, if you want to start numbering the page from page 4, then click page 3, and insert page break, this divides page 1-3 into a section and 4-whatever into another.
+Byunnie Baek CTRL SHIFT 8, you'll see the insert page break message on the blank page. Highlight that insert page break message, delete :)

Finally! Thank you so much for that, it was driving me crazy! I can't believe how complicated this is in Microsoft Word. You would think with the amount of revisions Word has had that they could've figured out a better system than this by now!

Oh my gosh, I did it. Thanks. By the way, "the ugly looking button" is a paragraph marker. It shows you all your markup - your sections as you demonstrated but also where your paragraphs are. Maybe not where they should be but where you have chosen to start a paragraph.
