I'm not a boxer but I've understood this lesson years ago, and have been training for the perfect jab and that perfect cross. I once saw two guys fight outside of a Teso and a taller guy throw a haymaker which I could see from miles away. I had time to contemplate different combinations before he even throw that punch. Its so weird to say this as I'm not a boxer but it's makes so much sense when you understand this video and practise it. The perfect jab or cross is so much more efficient in terms of speed, accuracy, and you reserve so much more energy. Not to mention the obvious, that mechanically its a stronger punch when thrown perfectly.

It's impressive how the little details in boxing can make so much of a difference.
For example, I had problems with landing the cross, so my coach told me to move my rear foot 2-3 inches away from the lead foot and boom, I was able to land the cross a lot easier.

When you throw the right cross should you pivot the right foot like you’re putting out a cigarette? I’ve seen a lot of boxers when hitting the heavy bag they don’t pivot their feet when throwing the right cross (or the left hook). Just wanted to get a definitive answer on this. Or maybe there’s some nuance as to when it’s appropriate to pivot the feet.

Your feet help, your torso helps even, but the power comes from your hips. Your target is about 5 inches behind where your fist touches. Follow through is where power is found.

Editing tip if you edit the temporals on the key frames when the camera is tracked to your hand to a bezier then you wont have the choppy frame rate / jittery animation it will be silky smooth

Tony why in no videos do I see full extension punch without teaching tension at the end of the punch? I teach my students to be relaxed in all movements extended or short but no matter how the punch lands it has to have the tension of a brick at the last moment to be affective
