- Thinkway Sing n' Yodelling Jessie Doll from Toy Story voice box repair. If you have a Jessie doll with a pull cord string that does not retract this could be a great DIY repair for you.
Sadly we see loads of this particular doll with this exact same fault (these were very popular when they were released).
To date we have never had one with this fault that we haven't been able to repair.

How did you wash the doll
Her voicebox looks like Woody's in toy story four even more than the woody toys voicebox does
I have a Woody who must be from the same era (same sort of tan, torso-shaped voicebox, albeit with the addition of buttons at the front) that I had to open up to clean the battery terminals of. This vid helped me with resetting and reassembling the pullstring winding drum
...Unfortunate update. I have sadly had difficulties since posting that comment. I don't know if I'm setting the metal striker piece on the drum properly, and the plastic nut has rolled off somewhere
Jessie has her voice back! I'm the heroine Grandma today after watching this "how to" and making a similar fix.

My Jessie does not have a voice box but her neck is broken is it just the same as this?
I got the doll yesterday and I sleep with her,
I wake up pull her string..
And she says nothing
I gave the doll to my father
He took it back to the disney store
He went home
Gave the doll to me
I pulled the string
She worked!!!
And i pulled her string and she worked again!
Lps_Oreo_Cat _PLAYZ he probably bought a new doll and threw the old one out, and also removed the packaging from the new one to make it look like the old one
Same with me the new one tho go in to the battery compartment and change the switch from demo to play.

Thank you! You make this look so easy. I just bought a Jessie doll from Amazon. When I took her out of the packaging her head is extremely wobbly like her neck is broken. I will do this surgery on her to repair her so that I can give it to one of my grand daughters. Thank you so much.

Could be the return spring but if not you can open it in pretty much the same way. I'm trying to find a fix or replacement spring

Thanks guys, I actually used this to repair a bunch of woody doll voice boxes and replaced the string into a longer string like in the movies
Did any of them have any circuitry issues? My nephew's not only has a completely borked string spool (which this video is helping me rebuild), it still doesn't make sound when I complete the circuit, despite having continuity all the way to the speaker.

Yep but it’s a major pain in the ass, you’ll have to open up the voice box and restring it, get similar string size and tie a knot, I would melt the knot just a tiny bit,
I recently purchased a Used Hasbro Jessie doll and I found the string was cut out of the doll, any means of repairing?
Our Woody's string doesnt retract because the return spring broke in the middle. Any idea if these can be purchased?

I was able to get an otherwise great condition Jessie for my granddaughter, and find she has a nonfunctional voice box (I didn't expect a voice box at all, let alone a functional one for the price I paid) and would love to fix it if possible. This video is bound to help. The doll is different version though (actual yarn hair in a braid). Would it likely be the same procedure?
A different setup, apparently. This one's voicebox does not fasten to the neck.

How did you clean the cloth on her body? I’m trying to restore my old Woody and Jessie dolls as well
You can use raisers or cut the feather bits off like my dad did
What activates the sound module when the string is pulled? I’m not talking about the coil is there something metal in the voice box? Because I might need that for The wooden voicebox I am making
On the left side (looking from the back of the torso), there's a striker piece on the side of the string spool that spins when the string is pulled and contacts the metal construct, which completes the circuit (wire attached to the side with the spring coil, conducts through the metal rod through the center of the spool, and through the striker arm and plate into another wire which is attached to other side of the circuit board.
This is based on the same-line Woody I'm working on for my nephew. His circuit board is larger and mounted directly under the spool, but the entire spool mechanism is identical to the one in this Jessie.

What Jessie doll did you use for the thumbnail? I believe that is the TSC voicebox with a broken neck piece and this doll is different in the video than the one in the thumbnail.

I bought a signature collection Jessie from EBay
It said that she still talks
When I got it
It didn’t
I contacted the seller and they said it was probably the batteries as they have already “tested” jessie before sending it.
Then to my surprise I opened Jessie today and she didn’t even have batteries in.
Her head is also broken (hence why I am watching this)
But here is the thing
The head has wires? And I don’t understand

Lullaby Leisure , Hi there. The signature Jessie has wires running up through her neck as the speaker is part of her head. If you move her hair around on the top of her head and look through you will see a speaker grill. All the best 👍🏻

Lullaby Leisure it can still be fixed. Sadly the wires are so cheap they are almost impossible to repair (as they are so thin). Replace the two wires with something a little thicker.
Resolder better wires in her voice box and feed them through her neck. There are a couple of screws holding the crown of her head on (the speaker cover). Remove this and remove the speaker. The new wires can then be resoldered to the speaker.
It’s a fiddly job but perfectly doable. I’ve done loads over the years. Best of luck 👍🏻😎

Is it just me or was it a creepy doll to start out with. I do have a Jessie doll with plastic hair but it doesn't have her eyes and mouth open. well the eyes are opened it just doesn't have those creepy eyes that are looking up in the corner of the the room
