This hobby is evolving so freaking fast. Just a couple years ago when I began flying fpv, it was F3 FC's w/ no OSD, no smart audio and low res goggles. Boy have things changed in a hurry.

What is smart audio?
@@blackterminal ...Newer vtx's have what's called vtx control. It gives the pilot the ability to change the vtx channel, band, and power settjng thru the betaflight OSD menu in you goggles using your radio as control. Its hands off. No more pushing buttons on the vtx trying to decode tiny leds.
The vtx is wired to an available uart using the Tx pad of that uart on the flight controller. There are two communication protocols that are used by the flight controller to talk to the vtx. One protocol is called "smart audio" developed by TBS. The term "smart audio" has become synonymous with vtx control. The other protocol developed by Immersion is called "Tramp" . It's important to know what protocol your vtx is using in order to configure it correctly in betaflight.
Something to note, just because your vtx has smart audio doesn't mean you have to use it. You can always manually change the settings of the vtx with the button on the vtx if you chose not to connect the SA wire. I hope that was thorough enough of an explanation.

Kinda struggling a bit since analog cameras are also quite good - and there's always something to test - but flying DJI HD is just so satisfying, it always gives me a big smile!

this review changed the game for me. i JUST got my EV300Ds and now i want to fence 'em and pick up some Digital goggles.
I think at this point. its hard to defend analogue unless you are on a really tight budget.

I've seen plenty of footage from people flying the DJI system before, but somehow the image quality didn't really pop for me until this video. Probably because I've seen you fly your house many times, so I know what it looks like pretty well. And, damn, but that's good footage, so clear and sharp!

Great video, planing to build a marmotte 5" with the vista. You are a brave man to solder over a board, may be the navy training but i never solder over another board when possible.
I completely get it Andy and agree incredible resolution .. Just big money and then air unit per quad etc etc > adds up to a lot if you got the bucks , great if not . Analogue it is and im happy with just flying. no doubt would love one buy money is always a question .. Nice review pal

Looks impressive, and 20g weight savings compared to the Air Unit is nice. If they can add onboard recording, it would be even better.
Great review, nice product... HOWEVER this is the first generation of digital FPV. And their are some issues. I'll wait a bit to see what improvements have been made or any new products from other manufacturers come out. There were times that I was one of the first to grab a new product and everything went well like my Futaba 16SZ and Skyzone 03O goggles and Traxxas UDR Truck. Most of my experiences in life tell me to wait on this one. I'm getting some real good FPV with my Skyzones Runcam hybrid and 600mw power. On 1200mw it's practically digital. Yes I've tried the DJI FPV, not bad at all, in fact quite a good experience I'll admit but I'll still wait💖

Well there goes another 600 dollars over the course of the next three months as I slowly convert everything over, totally worth it though. I cant wait to do my Diatone R349, that will be a treat.
Also Andy this is the moment that I have waited for a long time. This technology has finally presented itself and I am more than in. Its frustrating as you know to see these other tremendous parallel advances made with quad copters and still have to fly them through feeds that look like inter dimensional space vomit. I will be soaking over two grand into this easily this year.

Just a heads up, I just got one to barely fit in my 349, the camera can’t actually mount, you have to use the plastic canopy and pinch it, and trying to put it in there is an ordeal. It can definitely be done, it just seems kinda janky, but the camera, despite not having any mounting screws, is rock solid because everything is so crammed
@@ianozborne1555 well the 349 is a micro sized cam and in order to comply with the FCC regulations the dji camea couldn't be a standard fit. so if you are trying to fit it to the 349 I empathize with you. But fear not. As the video metions there are more frames being made to fit this system than I can keep up with.

I really want the caddx vista on my emax buzz to get high quality footage and low latency, but I dont want to buy the expensive DJI goggles. Is there a way to stream the footage to a tablet/phone, some kind of receiver?
What is that 4 mile cut-off you mentioned? Does the FPV feed just cut off if you're using a GPS? Or are you confusing this with the normal DJI quadcopters?

Throwing up a hail mary here guys. Brand new to fpv and I completely messed up my cinebee. Was working ok. Flew it a couple times, but the throttle was buggy. I thought since I followed another youtube video exactly maybe I did something wrong. So in betaflight I hit reset settings. Now nothing works. The uart ports are gone. Can't get them back no matter what I do. Drone on the screen in betaflight doesn't move when I move the drone physically. The calibrate accelerometer and magnetometer are greyed out too. Even when I plug in a battery, there used to be 3 quick chimes, then 2 more. Now I only get the 3 quick chimes. I'm completely lost. Any of you reading this PLEASE help!!

Great review! You know if I take an extreme view, it could be said that DJI are holding the future of companies like Fatshark and Orqa in their hands. If DJI decides to release a module or some system that could work with other goggles, those companies might have a fighting chance. Without that, I don't see how by the end of 2020 Fatshark or Orqa can be convincing anyone to buy their goggles. I hope DJI does release a solution for others as I think it would be good for the hobby overall. Surely they would sell a ton of modules even at $200 and in a much greater number than $500 goggles.
Thats why they are not gonna release a module any time soon. They are also gonna wait to enable the hdmi out. Because that would enable to use other goggles. fs and orqa first need to die
@@hansturpyn5455 Couldn't they still enable HDMI out on their own goggles? So you'd still need to buy those, but at least have the option for spectator screens. For me it's the only reason I am *not* yet getting DJI goggles!

So, Im loving the Vista on a sub 250 micro long range, getting an easy 10 minutes on 650 LiHv 4S. My only issue is that regardless of my settings, Im getting a minimum latency of around 40ms+, even in close proximity. It's not bothering me at all, but I fear it may be indicative of misconfiguration, or a hardware issue. Any ideas?
sounds like you have it in high quality mode and not low latency mode

Looking to make infrared night vision, with these goggles and cameras. Do you think that would work? I'd hate to spend that amount of money only to find I need a whole damn drone just to make it work.

Now they just need to release a system with only the VTX portion.... the receiver portion is not really required since many fpv pilots have separate receivers and transmitters
the receiver doesnt take up any extra weight. digital doesnt work the same as analogue. its using mimo so it can accept multiple signals at the same time. a non receiver option is also what the vista is

please you dont whant to make a review for the diatone taycan cinewoop?? honestly i have to have a cinewoop for my projects, i love geprc cinecan, ans alls with tarsier cam, but the tarsier is with fisheye lens.. (do you think is possible to have a narrow lens like 90° fov on the tarsier?), and is not for fpv stuffs but for cinématic.. and i have to see reviews (but cool review and no money publicity..) a real test, yours tests for the cinecan and the tarsier, is ok but the lens with fisheye, is not possible for me, i have see the firefly caméras with no distortion, and i have to have a more powerfull cinewoop to put it on it, and the diatone tyran sem top be the goal for me.. (with a little like "mobius" 2 axles gimbal, with firefly q6 no distortion is the best for me!) but i whait your review for this quad ;) to select the best.. thank you for the vidéo of the caddx fpv dji camera, but one thing: why no dvr on the drone?? is a gamebreaker for me..

Kyle Fpv no just the goggles. The transmitter is just a tipical dji think for people who like to fly with the standard dji controller
The dji transmitter has ultra low latency, half that of crossfire. Thats a big advantage for racers. And no messing wirh external receivers and antennas on these small frames.

This unit and the dji fpv set air unit are DIFFERENT to the DJI Drone Goggles racing edition's air unit that use ocusync 2.
That's why I'm looking for a caddx unit that connects to dji goggles racing edition cause they are a lot smaller than dji air unit for my dji racing googles

There is no R1 pad but the GEP-20A-F4 AIO manual shows pads for T2 and R2. I'm not sure why that wouldn't have also worked to carry the Vista TX/RX lines? I'd be pretty scared if that board had zero complete (TX/RX) backup UART options. There was another Rocket on the DJI FB that had very poor soldering.
R2 is needed for the control signal

Well the lead is 12 cm or 4.7 inches. Never had a problem to this date but you can buy 20cm leads. Only usually needed for 7 inch
How does the 1200mw unlock work? You still set the power level through the goggles right? Why not unlock 1200mw then only enable it via goggles if you actually need the range? Or have I got it all wrong, my goggles haven't arrived yet
yeah you are right you can do that. its just a text file like the region unlock. But you would be breaking your warranty going above 700mw (they can see it from the logs if anything breaks) and you will get about 20 meters more range so is it worth the hassle?

I used Aegis to edit the subtitles and hard coded them into green video. then colour keyed out the green and placed the icons on the screen where I wanted them. Cheers
I barely got one to fit in a diatone 349 and lemme say, it rips
it shouldn't fit the 349 due to the camera being wider than the housing. It will most likely crack installing it or crack eventually
AndyRC yea the mounting holes don’t fit, but the way I have it in there, the housing will probably crack in a hard crash, but then again, what housing wouldn’t? Lol. I’m thinking if 3D printing a new canopy for a better fit
AndyRC I’ve found that the 349 has just enough flex in the canopy to accommodate the camera and lock it in place. There’s also no vibes or jello so that’s pretty gucci

You can't deny the performance of digital. We all spend a lot of money on quads, radios, receivers, antennas, chargers, batteries and the list goes on, and you get reception equivalent to a TV set from the 1970's - well, something is not quite right is it!? I will not buy anything new that's not digital and I will slowly morph to digital on the existing fleet. I have to say though I hate the look of the DJI goggles and would love to see a more streamlined (better fitting) version but I'm not sure I can wait it out.
they fit much better now with the new face pad they are selling. definitely worth getting one but they should have got it right first time and it should be free if you bought a set
Yeh, I know Andy but they are still bulky and ugly, particularly if you want to mount an external analogue module for your ageing fleet.

I wouldn't care if this unit was free, I will not join DJI, ever. I'll wait till China catches up, as there will be a flood of these systems this year. I know everyone is going crazy for the DJI system, and these videos are popular, but please don't forget us supporters who feel this way. Also, please note, the price of digital systems is well out of budget for most pilots.For racers, TH-camrs, etc. this may seem affordable, but for most of us this is a hobby, and we have to budget accordingly.

Do you accept bitcoin?

Once you've finished setup click on the receive tab, copy the address and post it here for me.
Then I'll send you some, and you'll then be a part of the bitcoin network and you'll be able to transfer value peer to peer with any other member of the bitcoin network anywhere on the planet without having to trust or get permission from any third party and secure in the knowledge that no government, coporation, or supra-national body, has the ability to censor your immutable transaction on the blockchain.
Ta-Daa! It is that easy.
As to why. . . I appreciate the work you do.
If you're aware of the bell distribution curve as it relates to new technology adoption cycles . . bitcoin is now crossing the 'chasm' , innovators and early adopters are in, the chasm represtents the stage between them and early mainstream adoption.
Now is a good time to get on board if you're not already.

I am personally very hesitant for various reasons: the deflationary nature (you won't spend it if the value always increases, which makes it unsuitable as a currency), the massive computational/energy demands, the exponential progress of quantum computing, the open source code (anyone can - and does - start new cryptos), the higher efficiency / better algorithms of other crypto's, the social network aspect (it's only safe if enough people will keep using it), etc...!

The three types of wallets:
1/ Hot wallets - web-based, generally require simple email & password for setup & use. Some are better than others, and for different reasons. Some support multiple cryptos and some are coin specific. Some offer in wallet functionality whilst others are purely send and receive. Some charge extra fees. Some maintain custody of your private keys ( Coinbase ), others give you your seed phrase ( Blockchain.com ). The latter obviously being the better option . . " Not your keys, Not your bitcoin "
2/ Hardware wallets - device based app, best downloaded and subsequently setup offline for maximum security. Seed phrase (from which private/public key pairs are generated) is generated upon creation of new wallet (running the app).
Exodus wallet is a decent example of a multi coin wallet with in wallet exchange etc, however fees can be steep.
Electrum is a good example of a bitcoin only wallet. Mining fees only. Multi output tracsactions. No identifiers.
( I recommend Electrum to get your head around the basics, you'll then learn that little more is needed, wallet wise )
Do not download the bitcoin cash wallet from bitcoin.com, this a competitor scam coin riding on bitcoins' coat tails so enough about that.
3/ Cold storage - A simple offline device which stores your private/public keys. Seed pharse generated when device is activated. Connect device to phone/pc to use. Trezor & Ledger are two common cold storage devices.
If for example you were to download the Electrum wallet, write your seed phrase on a piece of paper and then also write down your master public key and an address belonging to your wallet, you would then have what is referred to as a 'paper wallet'. You could then travel the world with that piece of paper walk into an internet cafe anywhere and have access to your bitcoin. You could simply memorise the seed pharse if you're concerned about wasting paper

Volatility will decrease as market value increases, market value will increase with adoption.

Mr Amdy RC: you are the best ! thank you. I am retired on Social Security so I buy everything on sale ! I have 10 of the AirUnits so far and just yesterday received the Vista. It performs just lie the original BUT … the cable ? I kniw what you will say (weight ) but WHY NOT the same on both ? maybe one short one long ? Sorry I do NOT like thi cable (same as Occusinc system) ...and the antenna ? hmmmm.. someone at DJI must have approved this terrible cable ?? why wouldn't that person (engineer) just say "maybe we should have the cable compatible for both ?" whatever ...couple more months I will break put some analog small kwads (Vifly 150 or all the Diatone tMotor etc) buty honestly I will buy a couple BNF with DJI installed 3". leave the small builds to people with good eyes ..
well iv got many tarsier and runcam split cams and am yet to have an issue with this method. Also if you think about it. there is stress releif on both sides so really all you are missing is the rubber wire which isn't doing a lot?

@@laurentrentrent you would have to ask DJI that. Its something they would not answer me on but there is a lot you can do with digital signals that you cant do with analogue. In either case 4 miles of range is way to much to keep this hobby safe and legal.
Not what I had in mind but maybe there is an angle I didn't consider. So tell me how is losing video + control of my quad at 4 miles making the hobby safe.
@@laurentrentrent your complaining about 4 MILES....really? That's 6.45 kilometers....if your flying farther than that away you need a ground station, spotters, 2.4 band, and seriously good gps equipment.
Because even with analogue sometimes you will turn around to come back and the signal goes out.
I still prefer to buy a good analog build. Thoses digitals kit take too much place. And i prefer analog snow than digital pixel mud.
