Carl, great vid and thanks for doing. I just did this and had to wrap my head around the wiring of the lights to stock harnesses. Your pics and verbiage on your site are ok, but not very explanatory. For those of you wondering pinout of Molex/Amp connector from the lights, here you go: Pin 1 is ground or black, Pin 2 is red or flasher/turn signal (bright), Pin 3 is green or driving/turn signal (dim) and Pin 4 is white or fog light/driving light. I'm on a 2018 Road King Special for reference.
Just came across this video great vid, are the stock harnesses similar to the Ultra Limited for 2017? @DJ thanks for your input as well, I've been looking to see if I can just add connectors to the new lights I purchased - is that what you did or something else, cause I'm going to attempt to install this weekend.
Good morning Thanks for the very useful video I installed the same set on my bike, but the light is a little high angled. Do you have any idea to push it down ?
Hey, great video what kit did you use for the Road King to fit with the windshield? I have a 2018 Road King special and can’t seem to find a kit that fits that bike also with the buckets bar and the buckets for the lights thank you.
Hallo, thanks for the great Video. You put the switch on the plug, where I thought the lamps would be connected. But i need a switch too. I have two plugs under my handlebars. one where you connected the switch, and a second. can i connect the lamps to the second plug? do I connect the switch to the first plug? Thanks for your help. Hey Carl I wanted to see If you would be willing to help me out with more info on the wiring. I just got a 2020 RK special and want to put the same passing lamps on. If you would be willing to help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks. Also were you able to get the light on the bars working?
Geovanny Espana, if you haven't found this yet, check out RT California's channel. He installed a variation of these and also has a wiring video. As well, I will be installing these on my channel in a few weeks and I can cover the wiring. I happen to have a 2020 RKS too :)

I purchased these passing lamps and also have the windshield. Trying to figure out determine the hardware needed for mount properly. Couple of questions... 1.) what length shaft did you use? 2.) What hardware and order placed on the shaft to get the spacing correct for mounting the windshield and securing the lamps? 3.) how did you run the wire to the headlight assembly? Thanks!
1 1/2 inch long. After the window bushing I used a washer than a nut to get that tight. I then use another washer and then the passing lights them the acorn nut to hold it all together.
You mentioned that you could not use the plug you bought because the incandescent turn signal light was pulling power from the LED turn signal. Would it work if the turn signals on the bars were LED also? That plug you bought doesn't look like the one from the turn signals.
DO you have the a part # for the female terminal needed to go inside the Amp Connectors? I have bare wires that need a terminal/socket before added them to the plug?
Not sure what you mean by amp connector?? Did you look at the Harley service info page? There you can see all of the piece listed by part number with a picture.
Very cool, I’m wanting to keep my turn signals on the handlebars where they are (they’re LED custom dynamics), I got the parts that NightKing and RTCalifornia showed in their videos but I was looking for a vid on how to wire up the switch, I think this should help me a lot. Your pic of the service manual shows 2 4 pin connections but the right signal wire is a 6 pin connection, is that what I’m gathering? I’m a few hundred miles from my bike right now so I can’t go look at it (still waiting on my factory service manual to be delivered)
@@CarlRecktenwaldJr cool I was able to dig into it and figure everything out. It looks like that ground wire would be for if the toggle switch was a backlit switch, so not used in our case.
The service manual states that the Harley digital tech can program for lights to work with the high beam switch. You could also just put a jumper wire in place of the switch so the fog lights just work all the time.

How does the passing lamp get power? Does it get it from the turn signal where you soldered the white wire? Does the accessory switch just know that’s what you are turning on? The reason I ask is I know Road Kings are usually wired into the low beam. Also The black wire coming out of the Molex connector to the switch is that a ground and where did you attach that? Is it possible to see how you attached it under the nacelle? (If not no worries)
Power comes from the turn signal connectors, there is wire in the harness from the factory. Yes, the accessory switch tells the BCM that you want to turn on the driving lamps. According to the service manual there other turn on options for those lamps, with, switch or high beam switch. The molex connector is a ground point and an input to the bcm, the switch tells the bcm the switch position. Under the nacelle, I plug into the factory connector, i unplugged the factory installed turn signal and running lamps and plugged in a factory connector (i got them online) that i wired the driving lamps andf new turn signals into.
Your vid, takes of an interesting big job and you do a great job successfully. Kudos to your ability. I have a 2022 RoadKing Classic. As you know, the turn signal indicator is on the council on the tank. The signal turns off automatically, if you push the switch prematurely you actually turn it off. I don’t want to take my eyes off the road to look at the indicator. To remedy the situation, I like to add to very small regular 2 wired LED to the windshield at eye level. Can you tell me where under the nacelles I can do that please.

Great video, I'm planning on going this route on my 2017 road king as well. Quick question though, When you soldered the white wire on it looked like you had it partially on the old diode post; is that a necessary connection to make or is it just that it needs to be soldered to the white wire? Thanks!
Got mine put together today. I ended up doing a couple diffrent things, i jumped the molex connection instead of put a toggle switch in and just solder the aux wiring separate from the led board. Looks good but the turn signals are running hella dull. Not sure if I did something wrong.
