I had an interesting time watching you watch Dan for the first time. My grandson Eliel (who won't be four until January 31), came in, just as you had almost started the actual reaction. We have 12 people in our household (two grandparents, two parents, and eight children, with Eliel being the youngest). Every single person in this family is both musical and artistic in other ways (three of us are doing INKTOBER right now). Eliel has been singing since before he had words. He has perfect pitch, and he knows Dan's Amazing Grace almost as well as I do. He and I often watch that video together, so he knows the entire sequence of "events." At first, we both thought you were not happy with what you were hearing, because you were shaking your head, "No." Eliel wanted to know why you were not happy because Dan was singing! I told him to just wait, because I was fairly sure that you were not unhappy...just shaking your head in quiet amazement at that time. So when you actually showed your happiness, Eliel was overjoyed (as was I). Eliel stayed here with me through the entire reaction, and he would like you to know that he REALLY enjoyed it, and he was VERY glad that you got even happier by the time it was over. Oh, and he said that we should send you one of OUR harmonicas! Several Christmases ago, I bought an inexpensive one for each person in the house. I used to play all the time, when I was growing up. Agreed. 😀 A lot of people think it's THE first harmonica his dad gave him when he was between 12 & 13 years old (not 7 or 9 like some have said). From what his brother Davi has said, he has quite a few harmonicas, some of which probably also became his after his dad passed away, because he was the original harmonica-player in the family. Davi says he had a supply of them. Dan mentioned the actual age when he got his first one from his dad, when he was guesting on a podcast one evening, a little over a year ago.

I'm 73 years old & never thought I would like a metal singer but I love this guy! He is so freaking talented! He could sign the phone book & it would sound amazing!
Dan with his Amazing Grace showed up on my feed back in August and I was "gobsmacked" as they say. Have listened to it at least 200 times since plus most of his other covers. His range, power and breath control are unreal. I am 71 and this metal version still brings chills. My faves at the moment are this one, I'll Make a Man Out of You, Kiss from a Rose, Burn Butcher Burn and Dawn Over a New World. I even liked his original songs with his band Fearless. You are never too old to listen to good music😊Enjoy and thanks to Dan for sparking my love of the music from the late 60s, 70s, and 80s.

I grew up in the USA in the Deep South and have heard this hymn all my life. I had forgotten the beauty and power of it - until Dan Vasc sang it the way it was meant to be sung. His diction, breath control, his ability to draw the listener into the music, not to mention his magnificent voice instantly made him my favorite singer. YES! One of my favorites is "The Mighty Quinn." I was still a teen when it was released. I loved it then (the Manfred Mann version, though I loved Bob Dylan's original version, as well). I had started a folk band two years before it came out, and we adopted it quickly. Dan's version surpasses any other, and I love it! 😀

Dan does all his songs brilliantly. He has zero bad. Even the songs I personally don't like because of the song itself, becomes magical in Dan's hands. Good luck finding one that's not up to par. (Minus his audition vid 13 years ago)
Considering that he was just a 20-year-old kid in that audition video, I think it shows off his raw talent and passion, and yes, I know he himself has said it sucks, but creative people are always their own worst critic.

Valid points, my fellow Dan fan. For what it was then, it's damn good, but yeah, he's definitely improved. I just think that even Dan is a bit hard on himself when he says it sucks. For who and what and where he was then, it's acceptable. Dan is truly phenomenal! You won't ever hear anything less than amazing from him. For anyone who might be interested, Dan's metal band Fearless is apparently releasing new music soon. I'm basing this assumption on a recent post by a sound/recording engineer discussing putting final touches on Fearless recordings and since Chronicles of Ancient Wisdom has been out for a while this assumption makes sense. I'll be watching all of Dan's sites and recommend you do the same. 😉🙂

If you want a real flawless emotional Dan Vasc trip, you need to watch his Gethsemane cover from Jesus Christ Superstar. Tears are guaranteed. His singing and acting are off the charts. He is a 10+/10.
This is a chromatic harmonica. The “normal” harmonica to which you refer is a diatonic harmonica. The diatonic harmonica plays the eight basic do re mi … notes of only one key signature. Traditional blues artists can play other keys signatures on a diatonic harmonica by dropping their jaw or raising their tongue changing the air path to bend the reeds to play different notes from a different key signature and this is called playing cross harp. The chromatic harmonica Dan is using here is not limited to the eight notes of a key. This harmonica can play all the notes of the chromatic scale by intermittently depressing the button under his right thumb to get both flat and sharp notes of the chromatic scale. Being a larger instrument, the chromatic harmonica usually has a more full, rich sound than the typical diatonic harmonica.

You really want a bad performance? Dan Vasc has that too. Check out the first video he ever put out on TH-cam, 13 years ago, (or some of the very early concerts where Dan has short curly hair.) That first video actually genuinely sucks and Dan fully owns that but he leaves the video there as a reference so we can see how far he’s come since he started working on improving his singing and so it can encourage other people to keep going and not give up…that singing (or other skills) is a skill that can be worked on & finely honed, not just natural born talent.

You’re the first reactor who felt as I did the first time I heard Dan Vasc. Like so many, I was blown away by his rendition of Amazing Grace. I grew up in the USA in the Deep South and have heard this hymn all my life. I had forgotten the beauty and power of it - until Dan Vasc sang it the way it was meant to be sung. His diction, breath control, his ability to draw the listener into the music, not to mention his magnificent voice instantly made him my favorite singer. I’ve listened to a lot of his music and have yet to hear a bad note. Please let us hear more Dan reactions! Have you reacted to Dan’s cover of Music of the Night? It is better than most I’ve heard from the Broadway stage. He can sing in any genre.

You popped up on my phone screen about 14 minutes ago, and I was very happy seeing and hearing your reaction to the 100% phenomenal video excellence produced and sung by Dan Vasc. I discovered him this past April when he released Amazing Grace. I have watched countless videos as I am so enthralled by his voice. All I can tell you is that it is a glorious exploration no matter what genre of music he decides to cover. Each one is like a new ride at an amusement park. YES! One of my favorites is "The Mighty Quinn." I was still a teen when it was released. I loved it then (the Manfred Mann version, though I loved Bob Dylan's original version, as well). I had started a folk band two years before it came out, and we adopted it quickly. Dan's version surpasses any other, and I love it! 😀
He is also playing the pipe organ you hear in the background. Wonderful voice . A very capable entertainer. He has introduced me to Metal music 6 months ago. At 73 years of age that is no mean feat. I enjoy ALL his music.

Dan Vasc is the TOTAL PACKAGE!!! He's got the beautiful hair, dreamy eyes, handsome all over & with that absolutely gorgeous talented range in his wonderful voice! This man knows how to give me chills all over! I FELT every word & emotion of this song. I love how absolutely tender, raw & delicate he started the song even with the slight echo & with each verse exposing more talent & intensity. Dan Vasc has a God given talent that he has perfected over years of hard work into what it is today, devine & magnificent!!! He sang this song the way it was MEANT to be sung with such RESPECT, emotion & with a POWERFUL impact. I FELT the presence of GOD!!! This is the absolute very BEST version of 'Amazing Grace' that I've EVER heard in my ENTIRE life & I'm old (LOL). God BLESS Dan Vasc for sharing his wonderful talent & this video with the world! You don’t have to filter his videos. He doesn’t copyright them. Part of the Dan Vasc experience is watching him perform. He does Evanescence covers of My Immortal which is beautiful, but his cover of Bring Me To Life is phenomenal. Most of his covers are better than the originals. He is fun to watch as well. Dan does all his songs brilliantly. He has zero bad. Even the songs I personally don't like because of the song itself, becomes magical in Dan's hands. Good luck finding one that's not up to par. (Minus his audition vid 13 years ago)
Considering that he was just a 20-year-old kid in that audition video, I think it shows off his raw talent and passion, and yes, I know he himself has said it sucks, but creative people are always their own worst critic.
@@josiahrobinson6135 true! In fact, my 1st time hearing it, I thought Dan was just being too picky. But after hearing his updated version, I agreed with him. It sucks compared to the newer him, but uts pretty dam good compared to most.
Valid points, my fellow Dan fan. For what it was then, it's damn good, but yeah, he's definitely improved. I just think that even Dan is a bit hard on himself when he says it sucks. For who and what and where he was then, it's acceptable. I love that he's kept it on his channel, though, so we can all see where he started and how much better he's gotten through all of his hard work and dedication.

Dan is truly phenomenal! You won't ever hear anything less than amazing from him. For anyone who might be interested, Dan's metal band Fearless is apparently releasing new music soon. I'm basing this assumption on a recent post by a sound/recording engineer discussing putting final touches on Fearless recordings and since Chronicles of Ancient Wisdom has been out for a while this assumption makes sense. I'll be watching all of Dan's sites and recommend you do the same. 😉🙂

This is a chromatic harmonica. The “normal” harmonica to which you refer is a diatonic harmonica. The diatonic harmonica plays the eight basic do re mi … notes of only one key signature. Traditional blues artists can play other keys signatures on a diatonic harmonica by dropping their jaw or raising their tongue changing the air path to bend the reeds to play different notes from a different key signature and this is called playing cross harp. The chromatic harmonica Dan is using here is not limited to the eight notes of a key. This harmonica can play all the notes of the chromatic scale by intermittently depressing the button under his right thumb to get both flat and sharp notes of the chromatic scale. Being a larger instrument, the chromatic harmonica usually has a more full, rich sound than the typical diatonic harmonica.

You really want a bad performance? Dan Vasc has that too. Check out the first video he ever put out on TH-cam, 13 years ago, (or some of the very early concerts where Dan has short curly hair.)
That first video actually genuinely sucks and Dan fully owns that but he leaves the video there as a reference so we can see how far he’s come since he started working on improving his singing and so it can encourage other people to keep going and not give up…that singing (or other skills) is a skill that can be worked on & finely honed, not just natural born talent.
