Great video! I think the industry has a bad reputation because only the crappy deals come to light and we hear legacy stories from back in the days. Labels definitely have their flaws but they put up a lot of money and oftentimes for very little in return. Can't fault them for hedging their bets.
Cool video. Just wanted to mention that most of the time when you get an advance, it comes with much interest. If they give you $2 million, you’d need to recoup roughly $20 million in sales to break even. But honestly if you make good music and they promote you well, a hit record could make that back in no time.
Cannot really blame labels for trying to stack cards in their favor. Also if it were my money being used to fund an artist's project, I would want to be repaid first.
To be honest I share that sentiment. That being said, I’d of course give my artists a fair deal - competitive royalty rates, a competitive reversion date for rights, and a good amount of creative flexibility.
Love the way you break down and explain things, great vid
I appreciate that!
A very interesting and informative video
Glad you enjoyed it

Great point. I think artists should be aware of what they’re getting themselves into whilst remembering in many cases they are high risk investments

Having 360 makes the industry seem like a scam but it’s based on artists themselves nowadays…
Great point. Different stories for different folks.
Another top video , keep them coming
Thanks, will do!
Dope video it’s a game of chess and the labels will more than likely always win
Yeah, he with the most money typically wins here.
Label always wins, unless you're T.Swizzy
Drake is also definitely winning!
Please talk about rock metal music
Definitely on the cards. I am going through a sport phase right now but I'll circle back with music in May!
