Pakistan will never be tourism country. People want to be naked or half naked. They dont want to wear burqa. People wants beautiful beaches. People want adult industry. people dont come to see harappa or mughals. atleast egypt has a mystery about its civilisation
So forget about tourism. Think of working hard rather than think of easy money like tourism, freelance software, remittances etc. Think of exporting goods. This can happen only through investment. Investment happens only if you have savings. So increase savings

No doubt infrastructure is very important but security is basic problem in our country. Another very important issue is incompetence of our ruling elite who can resolve important and relevant issues.
As the economy is in doldrums. It will be difficult for the government to invest in the development of infrastructure.

That’s what I thought and was concerned about when I visited northern areas almost 5 years ago that who is giving these hotels and restaurants licenses to build wherever they want. From Murree to Naran to Swat (Kalam Valley especially), the haphazard hotels look so ugly and are ruining the beauty of valleys in every possible way.
As far as visa process is concerned, I have met some well-travelled tourists who have been to Pakistan, and they said that visa process was easy peasy!

Raza Rumi sb, Haroon sb made some good points about tourism value chain. However except zoning and bit of land-use planning I suppose ecology is altogether is missing which is fundamental for any sustainable tourism. Pakistan must also be careful about Disneyland effect or what Bahria Town is doing. Tourism needs ecology and heritage driven policy, planning, governance and decentralized management.
Can you tell one thing that tourists are free to enjoy and relax...food, liquor, dance music, attire, religious practices, security, trouble free movement... landscape is similar available...
How? Isn't there fear in peoples that anyone can burn them alive with their family members?
