thank you for the kind review. We have an enclosed eco system. We are not just license holder but also the manufacturer. We go by annual volume produced. Production wise, we only produced according to pre-orders. So, that's no such thing and over produced. Secondly, figures without pre-sale will produced less than possible demand. We are NOT a 1/6 figure company but a 1/6 scale Star Trek figures company. Star Trek series are like different licenses. For example, 80% of our Janeway never bought FC PIcard and Data, and all who purchased EMH, purchased a Janeway. The only one who want to have ALL the figures is me.
Thank you so much for clarifying this Nan Jin! As I'm sure you can tell, I am very excited about your products, and I know a ton of us in the community are as well! I wish I could get them all! The fact that you directly communicate with us is amazing! Thank you for the hard work you and your team are putting in. I plan to review all announcements and releases as they come so please keep in touch if there's ever anything you'd like to add!
Hi, I am from the UK, I have purchased everyone of the figures so far, I actually thanked them for giving Trekkie's these figures! I am 52 and been a Trekkie all my life! I do not know why this has not happened before, Star Trek is huge and this makes me very happy! To Boldly Go!
That's amazing Adrian! Thank you for your comment and watching! Star Trek fans are some of my best friends. Always taught me ways I wanted to live by! Live long and prosper 🖖
The badges on the OG series figures are sewn on because they were in the show. They were not used for communication then, they simply represented the Federation at the time. That is why they made them on fabric and it wasn't until TNG that they started to use them as communicators. This may explain why these figures are represented that way, accurate to the show. Amazing work. I tend to lean more towards the set accurate colors, they seem more vibrant and I think would stand out more in my collection. Thanks for the great review.
Thank you so much for watching and for your great comment!! It's funny, literally after I had posted this video I remembered that they didn't use their sewn badges for communication. How could I forget the iconic flip open communicators! Beam me up Scotty haha either way, I've been pretty happy so far with Exo-6. I'm glad you're excited also! Appreciate you subscribing. I'll have lots more Trek content and more coming to the channel! Stay Tuned!
A little more clarity is the fact that those Enterprise uniform Deltas did not represent the Federation. They represented the Enterprise. Each ship in the original series had its own unique uniform Delta or badge.
As a collector for 30 years, EXO-6 has me incredibly excited. Brought all the released figures so far and have Q, Sisko & Enterprise E chair on preorder. I cannot wait to see what they make over the next few years. All the other franchises I collect are on hold or very limited in purchasing. Its EXO-6 focused for the foreseeable future
So awesome! I'm stoked for you! Those are some great peices so far! I plan to talk about all upcoming announcements and releases as they come, so stay tuned! Thanks for watching! Love chatting with fellow Trekkies
Very nice review but back in the TOS days, they were not communicitor badges, they were just patches so this is spot on. They had little boxes called communicators
Hah I know! I totally remembered after the video 😅😅 beam me up Scotty was through a communicator not badge! That was next Generation. Oooops lol but thanks so much for watching and commenting!
The Locutus figure is going to be the spotlight of m STAR TREK 1/6 scale collection. Can you just imagine how fantasic the Borg Queen figure from FIRST CONTACT is going to look?
@@TheBenThomasShow ... I love your content. Subscribed recently. I am over the moon with EXO=6s figures. Do you think they'll make a Capt. Decker figure from TMP considering the scandal surrounding Stephen Collins?
Informative video. Regarding which figurines to collect? All the captains leading up until Enterprise is a must for me. I'm not particularly interested or bothered about the new stuff, but the films and certain crew members I'll be picking up too.
I will get iteration of all the TOS, NG, the 10 movies, most iteration of DS9, Voyager & Enterprise and as for Discovery and SNWs...not sure yet. And some initial wish list figures would be Mark Lenard as 1st Romulan, the 1st Female Romulan Commander , Salt Vampire, Scotty, Sulu, Uhura, Chekov, nurse Chapel, Yeoman Rand, Vena as Orian slave girl, #1 from the Cage, Talosian, Klingon Commander Kang, Harcourt Fenton Mudd, Nomad, Trelane, Edith Keeler, Losira, the Guardian of Forever, Kirk & Spock as gangsters and Nazi's, Gault the Thrall master, the Horta, Ruk, Apollo, Dr. Daystrom, Commander Decker...and that's just from the TOS.
Damn! That's going to be one heck of a sweet collection! When you get them in hand you should come on the show as a guest to figure flex a bit! Lots of folks will wanna see them In Hand! Thanks again for watching
Exo 6 is definitely something I need to mull on. It's going to be dangerous to my budget. Initially, i only wanted the versions from the 2nd star trek movie but the interview Nan Jin gave really sold me on the Motion picture version. More importantly, he sold me on wanting each version of the main cast as they progressed because he is not only focusing on different costumes but different head sculpts as well. I really hope this company does well enough that Nan Jin's vision is produced so we get a chance to get them. I just hope I get the chance to get what I want to fill out the collection.
It seems to be going pretty well so far! I hope they keep improving head sculpts as prices continue to rise. I wouldn't want to pay much more that the 220-250 range or it would be getting too high to justify. Love them so far though! Thanks for watching and subbing!
@@TheBenThomasShow The price point is what worries me. But compared to other 1/6 companies it's still at a lower range at $199. But I just ran into the Tomy 1:350 diecast enterprise crowdfunding and backed that instead of buying the Mirror Spock. That just re-adjusted my list for this line.
Your video was very enjoyable. Great quality & being able to see all the details of these figures. These figures are amazing. The only downside is the price for what you get. The Star Wars Hot Toys figures are more detailed & you get more accessories. The SW HT do cost more but not by much. In todays economy the prices for the Hot Toys Mavel figures are just ridiculous. The other factors to consider w/all the figures are taxes, shipping cost, unknown quality, wait time, etc. Ben if you end up purchasing any of these ST figures I hope you post a review.
Thanks so much! I agree the cost does rise very quickly. I'm in Canada so we have exchange rates and customs charges as well. For a figure listed at 200, I'm lucky to get out under 320 Canadian ha. But I will def get some. I have First Contact Data on the way! Thanks for watching good sir!
Excellent video. I was just rewatching TOS and while I agree with you that the sewn badge is weird, it is also 100% accurate to the show. For me it will be set colors all the way. I find I enjoy them better. The number of figures I originally planned to get has grown. I still think I will pass mostly on TOS and new trek figures. However, because I enjoy and appreciate not only the characters but also the quality and difficulty of construction and tailoring, I may make exceptions for figures with exceptional tailoring. Then there is the whole question of aliens. One could focus solely on collecting star trek aliens since they are often overlooked as merchandise and yet such an integral part of the shows. Decisions to be made.
Dude thanks for calling out the screen accuracy on the com badge in the og series! I had forgotten that was cannon before the communication. But duh! Kirk always had his communicator on him. Beam me up Scotty! Funny how memory works that way. I actually like it more now remembering that detail. I agree about the characters with exceptional tailoring or sculpting. Like I was saying about the ferengi, he looks crazy good on his ears and forhead. And the colours of his uniform and tailoring are so good. Same goes with Chris Lloyd's klingon! So much exciting news from them on the horizon!
Hallo Ben, extraordinary review, I admit I love custom figures I try to assemble myself but ordered some exo6 I could not resist: mirror Sulu and Michael Burnham, excited to definetively get them, I am going mad with Montgomery Scott headsculpt, can you suggest a good headsculpt, they are so rare and exo6 dismissed actually Tanks
Check out v.collectibles on Instagram. They can be expensive but I think he takes commission orders. Wait time might be crazy. I also think Exo-6 may still do it even if it's been dismissed initially. Thanks for the kind words and for watching. Stay tuned for more!
I believe that the only mistake Nanjin has made is not finishing the TOS line for starters. I mean, if he had, then I would probably have bought everything else thereafter. But having figures all over the place has made me cautious that I can never have a complete line. I still buy TMP, will buy movie Treks, but I’ve refrained from buying from the other lines because of that. I think I remember Nanjin stating he had three years to accomplish everything and with all those figures everywhere, it makes me really worried. Other than that, no one wants him to succeed more than I do.
Sorry for my delayed response to your comment! My only saving grace is that I'm not a completionist collector. I cherry-pick my favorites from all the pop culture nostalgia that I have inside. Which is still a lot of figures, hah, but I get what you mean. If you start a line and it doesn't finish, that could be a really poor experience. My concern now since I posted this video originally is QC issues. Kirk and Spock both have been removed entirely from production. Nanjin has said this basically means that if you break something or get one with a QC issue, you'd get a refund but not a replacement. No replacement parts are available, and only one per household is allowed. It doesn't feel Ike a smart company move to not have some tucked away for customer service related issues or qc defects. As Star Trek fans, we are willing to put a ton of faith and hard earned money into supporting them. But Nanjin does not take feedback well, becomes retaliatory, and doesn't have a solution other than a refund if something goes wrong for the collector. Like you,I plan to continue supporting them, and I want them to succeed wholeheartedly. But I hope some changes are made that ultimately benefit everyone, including Exo-6. Thanks for watching and for the channel support! Happy New Year!
Not "Nanjin" but QMx, those were their figures under their Label. I only worked there to develope and manufacture, I had zero say on cooperate decisions.
Hey Ben, EXO6 figures are very impressive but have you noticed that they do not give any spare wrist pegs! If they break its a concern! I am not sure what is going on with that as one would think that is a very important extra to include...Cheers!
Absolutely Graeme! It's been something I've really been hammering with Exo-6 lately. I have a sideshow Deadpool that comes with 12 extras!! And I've seen collectors having issues with their wrist pegs. Not worth having to send a figure back for repairs. And some figures like Kirk don't have replacements available. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel good sir!
