when I listened to the first few seconds I said to myself "nah, too slow for my taste" but for whatever reason, it grew on me fast as I continued on listening and it made sense later!! So calming, controlled and hypnotizing. Thank you for this beautiful performance sir!
I’ve cried just 2 times listening to a piano interpretation, one was my own interpretation of Comptine d'un autre été, and this is the second one, truly breathtaking, I find this slower version so painful and absolutely beautiful
What a silky, calming performance! You have a wonderful touch. It's inspirational that you have returned to the piano after a thirty year break and enabled ,to date ,over eight and a half thousand listeners to enjoy your playing.
A beautiful rendition. It’s quite a bit slower than any other recordings I’ve heard, but your attention to detail is what adds to the beauty. I’m in the note learning phase of this work. All those polyrhythms and ornaments are quite a challenge. I finds myself drifting to your rendition every time, even though unconventionally slow. Great work!
Keep in mind that some phrases sound clearer, more enjoyable and crystal clear at slower speeds than normal! Congratulations to the gentleman for his impeccable performance!
Well, there is obviously a reason for it, but instead of telling it, I should ask everyone for a task. Have you looked at Pollini making a fool of himself (unwantedly, irresponsibly?) by playing this at the supposed metronome marking given by Chopin here on TH-cam? Have you seen Avdeeva doing the same? Make your own conclusions while trying to solve the issue of why the metronome markings of the nocturnes do not feel nocturnal. The same, with his Op. 10 No. 3. Be scientific while investigating and do not succumb to passions.
Ah, beautiful. One of my favourite nocturnes. Though all of Chopin's other nocturnes are emotion rich is every way, but I always have found this one quite different from others. It is more like a lyrical poem, with much more emotions, details and musical delicacy. This is simplicity. You absolutely nailed the performance. Great job.
Chopin played so much slower than any of us today. This is probably the closer to what he actually sounded like when he played. You play beautifully and must have had you’re heart broken to play with such deep emotion
Absolutely the most beautiful piece among Nocturnes of Chopin. I like your playing, sounds a bit slower though. It's your hobby, James? Then, you are great. I know it's not easy to play Op 27 No 2 in Db, too many Flats and very complicated harmonics ::) Looking so~~~ good.
Thank you, Justin. Yes I prefer it slower as it allows time for the music to breathe. And, yes, playing is my hobby having taking the piano up again a few years ago after a 30 year break...
I’ve listened to some of your videos today, i really like it! Your piano also sounds really amazing, btw it’s probably the first time i can really listen to a CF6, i’d be curious to know what made you choose this one instead of a more common steinway B ? (if this is because of the price, it’s already a good reason for sure haha)
Thank you. My dream was always to have a 'B' like the ones I played and had lessons on at the RCM and RAM. However, after a wonderful tour of the factory in Hambueg, we went to the showroom. A modern 'B' is nothing like the ones I remember: horrible plastic keys and too brilliant a sound. I considered buying secondhand, but don't have the technical knowledge of frames and soundboards. I was going to give up, but on a visit to Yamaha London was presented with this beauty, worth a not dissimilar amount, but negotatiated a sizable discount. She is lovely and the ivories keys are so much better than the Steinway plastic.
@@jamesv61 what you say sounds really interesting to me, i have myself tested several recent B and i have to admit i was quite disappointed by the tone in general (not really bothered by the keyboard though). However i have recently tried a Steingraeber C212, it’s truly a wonderful instrument, i would certainly fall for this one. One day, I’ll try to go in Yamaha London to see this CF6, do you know if it’s possible to try it there?
I like chopin very much but you just Played ist Like i always Wanted to Hear Chopin. I really think that the way you played the piece is the way Chopin intendet when wrote it. Great playing! I am now curious how you Play Beethovens pathetique Lovely greetings From Germany!
Sound of this Yamaha is amazing. I love your interpretation. Any chance to see you playing the Prélude N. 2 or that fantastic Nocturne N. 1 Op. 62 ? Greets from Paris.
a 23 year old young man who has just finished university but doenst know what to do with life while also being mentally ill is sitting in his children room and is thinking i love you.
Thank you, Jonaa. Life has many twists and turns, sometimes cruel, sometimes loving. I gave up the piano at 30 having reached a point of no return. Like you, I had no idea what I was going to do next as music had been central to my life since the age of five. I trusted life and ultimately myself, and after starting at the bottom and working through, I was able again to buy a lovely piano and play again. There's a lot of joy ahead of you - let it be.
Beautiful and well done! Makes me want to go and play Chopin today! Thank you!
Thank you
same :))

the double accent at 0:59 truly shows your incredible technical and interpretative ability, second time around and beautiful as the first. bravo!

Good effort mate. Bit slow for me but what I like is the passion. If I was sat in that room I think I would have cried.
Thank you
You play clearly from your heart... Thank you for sharing such a beautiful rendition with us ❤
You and Chopin gave me goosebumps 🙏🏽💕

Thanks for great performance, I am more determined to learn this nocturne after listening to you
Thank you
Whoa, that was intense.! Perhaps the slower tempo added to the intensity. A long night felt, definitely.
Thank you
